Delta ...
This name sounds like a false note to the ears of other wolves.
In their eyes, these are only errors of nature, failed creatures...
That's why I have to be careful that no one finds out.
My parents were also Delta. All their life, they lived with this secret on their back and still live with it.
They are the ones who transmitted these genes to me.
My childhood was rocked by advice necessary for my survival, I was told to obey the Alphas, to behave like an Omega even if my instinct ordered me otherwise.
To help me through this very difficult ordeal, they told me lies about what happened to the Deltas that were discovered.
Even if it wasn't honest, I never blamed them because thanks to them I'm invisible among the other wolves.
I had never thought of researching the real fate of people like me until Maeva discovered it.
I was 13 and had just started school at a new middle school.
As soon as I arrived, trouble had fallen on me.
Quite provocatively, I had triggered a conflict between a group of Alpha and my friends.
Defending them and having never lowered her eyes in front of them, Maeva had quickly thought that I was a Delta and she had gone to inquire with my parents who, after having deemed her trustworthy, had told her everything.
Very curious, she had dragged me into the library and for a whole week, we had immersed ourselves in huge books in search of information.
I winced slightly when I saw what was happening...
When a Delta was spotted, it was immediately captured.
If he was a wanderer without a pack, he was either killed or imprisoned for life or sold as a fairground beast to a nearby Alpha for his personal pleasure. And there is no doubt that as a woman, I will not only be used for decoration.
Charming...
After this episode, Maeva had become my confidante, best friend, ally as well as everything that goes with it and helped me to hide myself. Even if lately, the talkative side of Maeva made more and more doubt the safety of my secret.

The rest of the day goes wonderfully. No other appearances of Aiden in my line of sight so all good. And then the spectacle offered to me by Maeva at this very moment is well worth all the detours in the world. She's currently talking to Jack and blushes at every sentence.
Jack is a childhood friend of mine. Pretty cute, I had been all smiles when he recently came to see me, telling me he thought Maeva was his soulmate. A kindred spirit was a wolf's lover par excellence. Complementing each other more than anyone else, soul mates were meant to be together. We recognized his thanks to the succulent smell that emanated from it. So when Jack told me that my best friend seemed to bathe in a constant scent of mint, I didn't hesitate and dragged him to her.
It's been five minutes now that I've been all crimson from giggling seeing the two of them, both as embarrassed as each other.
They are only a few meters from me and I see the incessant furious glances that Maeva throws at me.
Then all of a sudden, I see Jack lean over her and kiss her quickly before leaving. I freeze. My friend joins me, stars in her eyes and slumps over me, shouting that she is the happiest in the world.
How silly love is...
After that, I head for the bus stop, a few minutes early so as not to reproduce the catastrophic scenario of this morning.
I sit at the back and put on my headphones while watching the landscape. Lady Gaga's phone rings in my ears as I get off the bus.
When I pull into my driveway, I don't see my parents' car.
Strange, they are always there when I usually come home. They are certainly in traffic jams.
I throw my shoes in the closet before going into the kitchen, grabbing a packet of cakes and heading to my room. An hour passes. The clock has almost finished a second round and still no one. I shrug my shoulders before going into the bathroom, my phone in my hand, in case my parents try to reach me. Pensive, I take the time to contemplate my reflection in the mirror. I grimace, thinking back to the voluptuous curves of Maeva and tries to reassure myself by congratulating myself on my seventy feet.
Finally I decide to go in the shower and after ten minutes, I come out washed, the towel wrapped around my chest.
I try to call my parents but no answer and hang up without leaving a message.
I don't have to worry. This is certainly a minor drawback.
At 10 p.m., I fall asleep, anxious.
I woke up the next day by the doorbell. I try to go back to sleep, hoping my parents will wake up for me. But after two minutes, the doorbell still rings and I even hear someone banging on the door. I wake up cringing. I expect to find my parents in the kitchen and am about to bitch about my father, certainly responsible for this most unpleasant awakening.
But there is no one. The house is empty. No smell of toast, no briefcase in the hallway. And then yesterday evening comes back to me. I open the door, my hand shaking.
In front of me, the dominant Alpha. Aiden's father. Dominant master of the city.
His demeanor is serious, dark.
-Swan I'm sorry...
He doesn't need to say more.
I already understood...
