This morning, strangely, I felt good. My troubles from yesterday had evaporated, giving me a feeling of fulfillment.

After getting a makeover, and having eaten a good breakfast, I went to my first lesson of the day, which was French. A subject that I didn't really like so luckily my new friend, Bonnie, was in that class as well.

I trotted into the French room and the first thing I saw was Matt's happy face. He was sitting at the back of the class, a beaming smile on his lips. He waved at me, I returned the gesture before going to sit down a few rows from the boy.

The professor suddenly appeared in the room, arriving in a whirlwind, arms loaded with a box full of books.

- Hello dear students! Mr. Bones exclaimed happily. His face looked like that of a little boy on Christmas Day.

- Today, I am going to introduce you to a wonderful book - he makes big gestures with his hands - it is called - Le destin de Clara Fox! he told us with a broad smile.

Sighs were heard from the class. I must have been the only one excited at the idea of reading a book, and yet I didn't like French.

- This book is about...  Mr. Bones was about to give us the summary of the book he held firmly in his hand when the door opened, interrupting him.

Jace walked in, shuffling as if carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

He trotted back to his seat, his face expressionless. His gaze met mine as he passed my table and a smirk tugged at his lips.

I thought it was strange that Jace was here. Since he wasn't here yesterday, I figured he wasn't in my class.

- Hello to you Mr. Moohood. We don't change our habits apparently, the professor whispered. Always late, said Mr. Bones, starting to take the books out of the box to put them on his desk.

Jace, leaning back in his chair, rolled his eyes. His attitude seemed not to be unusual for Mr.Bones.

- May I know why you weren't here yesterday? asked the professor, sorting the books into small piles. He didn't seem alarmed by the young man's behavior.

I thought the professor's reaction was kind of nice, considering Jace didn't seem to mind being late.

The whole class turned towards the back of the room where Jace was, completely enthralled by this exchange. It even seemed to me that she was more passionate now than before Jace arrived. Mr. Bones was organizing stacks of books on his desk waiting for an answer.

I turned my head slightly towards the back of the class, observing the scene like everyone else.

Jace scans the room for a moment, making all curious heads turn. However, when his gaze landed on me, I didn't immediately turn my head. His gaze is now fixed on me, daring me to look down. The tension, almost palpable, finally forced me to succumb to his threat and turn away.

I had a headache, unfortunately, Jace replied with his smirk.

I sighed, already tired by the boy's behavior and focused on the teacher who placed a book on my table. I flipped this one over and started reading the summary.

Summary

- The fate of Clara Fox

- Clara lost her parents when she was 10 years old. She's 18 now and she hasn't said a word since they died. She withdrew into herself, refusing to speak.

The rest of her family tries by all means to restore Clara's joie de vivre, to make her talk... But all their attempts end in failure. Her old friends are drifting away little by little because of her silence.

When Clara's loved ones think this is a hopeless case, she meets Samuel, a simple, fun, bubbly boy who is friends with many people in high school.

Samuel spends a lot of time trying to decipher Clara, and little by little she regains a taste for life, thanks to him. -

The summary was not very thorough, but gave just enough to make you want to turn the pages of this novel.

The teacher asked the class to describe the summary and give their opinion, it lasted all hour.

When the bell rang, I walked out first alongside Matt. We both walked to our lockers talking about the book we were going to read next. Once arrived in front of my locker, I opened it and put away my notebooks. Matt was leaning next to the wall of lockers, talking about the book. It was strange that he would talk about a book that way.

- I may be a boy, but I can't wait to read this book, he said to me with a smile as I loaded my backpack with my things for the rest of the day.

- Who said boys can't like love stories? I replied with a smile as I slammed my locker shut, making Matt jump slightly.

I saw that Matt was making a weird face after I closed my locker. Confused, I turned to suddenly come face to face with Jace. He had one arm stuck against my locker. He towered over me with his height. A wave of disgust washed over me. I sighed as I looked up before turning back to Matt, who seemed a little confused and shy around Jace.

- You don't introduce me, sweetheart - Jace said confidently, showing all his perfectly aligned teeth when he smiled.

- Jace, Matt. Matt, Jace, I introduced them jadedly with a sigh.

Samuel spends a lot of time trying to decipher Clara, and little by little she regains a taste for life, thanks to him. -

- Jace, Matt. Matt, Jace, I introduced them jadedly with a sigh.

I didn't want to linger with him any longer, so the sooner I gave him what he wanted, the sooner he would leave. Jace was a boy who ate attention, once satiated he returned to his habits.

Wait, do you know each other? Matt asked suddenly, as if a wave of confidence washed over him.

Of course, it's my little heart, Jace said raising his eyebrows as if it were obvious. But that was not the case.

Matt's face became confused. There is something to say. I wondered what her precious Haylay would say if she heard that nickname, which was far too affectionate for my taste.

I rolled my eyes at his stupid answer and gritted my teeth, I was way too pissed off.

-  No, we don't know each other, he's a jester, don't mind,  I said to Matt while ignoring Jace's piercing eyes.

"Are you dating or something like that? Matt asked me, not taking his eyes off Jace.

Would it be stupid? It was obvious that we weren't together.

- What ? NO ! Why are you asking me that Matt…, I said with a look of disgust, at the thought of Jace and me together.

Jace tried to hide his giggles, but his dimples betrayed him.

"I don't know... maybe the fact that he just called you - sweetheart," Matt told me, raising his hands as if the answer was obvious. Perhaps a clarification was needed all the same.

It was true that this nickname was confusing. The truth was, Jace was only doing this to piss me off. It must have brought him some kind of satisfaction.

"We hate each other," I said more calmly.

It wasn't hard to guess that Jace hated me. The way he treated me since yesterday was proof of that.

- She's not wrong about that, we hate each other  nodded Jace, removing his hand from my locker to put it on his heart.

I sighed and grabbed Matt by the arm to pull him as far away from Jace as possible. The latter, being proud of his intervention, displayed a pretentious air.

Matt turned to take one last look at Jace, but I forced him to keep walking.

"Don't pay attention to him," I repeated to Matt.

A few minutes later, the bell rang and Matt left for his next class without saying a word to me.

As for me, I had math with Bonnie.

When I entered the room, Bonnie was already installed. I took a seat at the table next to her and silently took out my things.

"I'm supposed to be the one who's always late," Bonnie tells me, accompanied by a wink.

I smile at his remark. Bonnie had told me that she was never on time when we were at her cabin, before the bonfire.

- Sorry, my roommate decided to do his little arrogant act, I say, sitting down and sighing, thinking back to the scene.

- You see what I mean...  I continued, raising my eyes to the sky, already tired.

"I see very well what you mean. You are so lucky! Bonnie called out to me, starting to daydream again. She had that annoying habit of resting her head in one of her hands when daydreaming about Jace.

I really had to change her mind about him. I had to open her eyes, for her to realize how unsuitable he was for her. It wasn't hard to see him though.

- You are wrong, I breathed in a sigh.

- Never mind. I wanted us to swap numbers  she said to change the subject.

So I wrote down my number on a piece of paper and she promised to send me a message so I could save hers on my phone.

Once the teacher arrived, I saw that it was a woman. She was in her mid-thirties, dark-haired, with very drawn facial features, giving her a stern look.

- Good morning! Who allowed you to sit down? she said haughtily, waving her hand. Which had the effect of making us get up from our chairs.

- GOOD. My name is Mrs. Hock, I will be your math teacher for the coming year. Don't count on me to give you a break after class, I'll always give you homework, she said, writing her name on the board.

Great, homework every day. I didn't particularly care about math, but I was doing pretty well.

Casually, what an introduction!

Teachers like him are often divorced people, having lost custody of their child because their ex-husband or ex-wife was earning a lot more money.

- But of course, count on me! said a male voice in an ironic tone. His voice floated to the professor's ears.

Everyone turned to associate a face with that voice.

It was a boy with brown hair and green eyes. He was slumped in his chair, arms behind his head. He sounded like Jace's spiritual brother.

- Excuse me young man, what is your name? Mrs. Hock asked sternly.

- Peter Black  sighed the boy with an annoyed air.

"Listen to me Peter, in my class you don't rule the roost. I am in no way one of your girlfriends to whom you can afford to talk badly, irritated Mrs. Hock.

"That's for sure..." muttered Peter, however everyone had heard him.

Bonnie rolled her eyes at Peter's remark. She seemed not to appreciate his attitude. She needed to open her eyes and realize that Jace had the same attitude. I will succeed in making him change his mind about his little protege. He had to.

The class laughed at what Peter had just said while Bonnie and I remained jaded.

The hour was endless... Mrs. Hock seemed quite severe and I had to admit that the severe teachers worried me a bit. I always felt the need to do my best to impress them.

The bell rang and Bonnie packed her things faster than me. She explained to me that she had to pick up her things in her locker, leaving me alone.

Once my things were put away, I left the room and bumped into someone. Jack.

What irony...

Was he following me? He was the last person I wanted to see at this school.

- Hey, but who is it! he said grabbing my wrist for some reason.

- Stop following me Jace  I said dryly, breaking free from his grip.

He burst out laughing. He was so strange it was almost scary.

- Do you really think I follow you? he said trying to stop laughing.

I was confused, why was he here then?

- Isn't that what you do? I say crossing my arms over my chest.

"Hey Jace! Peter shouted behind me.

Did they know each other? Not surprising.

- Hey Peter! Jace greeted, giving me a proud smile.

Of course they knew each other.

I was left speechless. I had just looked like a stupid girl thinking he was following me.

- I don't follow you my heart... I hate you, Jace whispered in my ear when he walked past me with Peter, not forgetting to give me a shoulder bump as he passed.

It seems that the hatred we felt for each other is now official.

"I hate you too! I shouted down the hall, causing a few odd looks at me. Jace turned and gave me one of his mischievous smiles.

With those words, I was off to my last two classes of the morning.

I was more distracted than present during these two classes. I still couldn't get over being looked like a stupid girl, and in front of Jace too...
