prologue

Have you ever got up in the morning so enthusiastic that waking up is less harsh than it can be on any other day? You know that feeling of impatience that gnaws at you even at night? Well, that's what happens to me. I haven't slept a wink all night, far too impatient to face the great adventure that is back to school. A sentence that few young people have had to say in their lives. But you see, I'm not talking about an ordinary back to school where you go back to the halls of hell, facing the same insignificant people you've been around your whole life. Or even a return to school where you know that one of your teachers is going to have you in the sights. No, I'm talking about a very different back to school, in a very different school.

I'm talking about a return to a school out of the ordinary.

Mystic High School.

A school surrounded by shimmering forests and large lakes, far from everything. A school whose name is reputed to be the Elite of schools. A school where my mother spent most of her teenage years.

My mother has always had a passion for writing. A passion that, strangely, displeased Grandmother. From what mom explained to me, grandma didn't appreciate the fact that mom spent all her time in her room writing. I was surprised when mom told me this.

This is why, once she was of age and free of her choices, my mother made the choice to go and study away from the world, where no one could forbid her to practice writing and reading. She decided to go to Mystic High. Back then, the notoriety of the school was not the same as it is now.

Mystic High is not just a school, it's much more. It is a school that knows how to combine pleasure with studies. Mom says she had the best years of her life there, and from the crazy stories she tells us every chance she gets, I want to believe her. Over time, I learned a lot about this school, such as the fact that it does middle school through high school, and that there are lots of extracurricular activities available. Going to school has never seemed so fun.

So, can you imagine my excitement when my parents told my brother and I that we were going to continue our studies there?

The right word to use would be - hysterical.

Why didn't you do it earlier? Why have you waited all these years, you will tell me? Well for the simple fact that Lucky has always refused to set foot there, not wanting to abandon his friends in Los Angeles. One reason I totally understand, it's never easy to leave your friends, your habits for the unknown. As far as I'm concerned, it's obvious that I'm going to have a little heartache to leave my friends, but since I've been dreaming of going to this school for so long, I've come to terms with the idea of separating from my old life.

A little adventure never killed anyone after all.
