Chapter 4: I’m Elise’s Husband

“You? You are a beggar. How will you resolve it? Will you beg Mr. Granger for help?” David chuckled again.

“Beg me for help? I won’t agree. However, if you can crawl under my crotch and respectfully call me Mr. Granger, I’ll consider it.”

A jest filled John’s eyes.

John had a great sense of achievement to insult Elise’s husband.

“I... Forget it. By noon tomorrow, I’ll bring you the investment agreement,” Robin said after a thought.

He didn’t tell them he was a general, Primus of Kisia, because they wouldn’t believe him.

Elise would probably tell Leslie he was a liar. Robin wanted to give Elise some time to digest it.

However, David added immediately, “Robin Bailey is your husband, Elise. It’s official. He has the right to make decisions on your behalf. It’s the deal. If you failed, you must return the 10%.”

The board of directors was the core of the Lands Corporation’s power center. After entering the board, Elise would be in the corridors of power. However, it would be challenging for her to get in. After all, nearly no one in Stillwater was willing to help Lands Corporation.

Besides, the Houry family hinted at others to avoid doing it.

“No problem,” Robin agreed.

David burst into laughter and left the villa with John. He hadn’t achieved his goal only but also had extra gains.

After they were gone, Elise walked to Robin and glared at him, “Who do you think you are to make the decision on my behalf? Who are you to me? Do you know how important the last 10% of shares are for me? You know nothing!”

Several years ago, Elise started Lands Corporation from scratch and was the president, holding 60% of the company shares. However, after the incident, her family took over the company and only left her the last 10% of the shares.

It was her only property, pretty essential to her.

“Robin Bailey, you have no right to make any decision for me. I want to divorce you tomorrow. Now, get out of here!” Elise snapped him hoarsely.

Pointing at the door, she wanted to kick him out.

“Elise, I...”

“Get the fuck out of my sight!”

Elise didn’t give Robin a chance to explain.

“Robin Bailey, you are a beggar. How dare you brag! Shame on you! You even don’t know how important the 10% of shares is for us all. My family relies on it. How dare you collude with others to take over the 10% from us!”

“We’re so lucky to have an ungrateful son-in-law like you!”

Karen looked at Robin in anger.

“Tell us. How much has the Houry family paid you to do so?”

Elise’s father sat on the chair, frowning deeply. The longer he looked at Robin, the more disgusted he felt.

“It turned out you colluded with others to harm us.”

Elise stared daggers at Robin. The Houry family always wanted her to give them the 10% of shares so they could control Lands Corporation completely. In that case, Elise would never return to the company or become the president again.

She knew it for a long time but didn’t expect Robin to be part of it.

“Fuck off! I don’t want to see you again.”

Elise pointed at the door.

“I’ll go to your company tomorrow.”

Robin knew his explanation wouldn’t work, so he turned away.

Leslie wanted to follow him, but Elise seized her hand. Leslie pointed at Robin outside the house and said eagerly, “Mom... Mom... Dad...”

“You don’t have a dad. He’s dead.”

Elise lifted Leslie and took her into the bedroom. She slammed the door shut, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I knew this guy was a scum before. What would I still have hope in him?”

She was a tough businesswoman but also a weak woman. She had suffered in the past seven years and always imagined Robin would return to rescue her.

However, her last ray of hope was gone today.

“Mr. Bailey, the Robin-Sophia Group hasn’t officially settled in Stillwater yet. Besides, we lack employees now. However, we have a client company, Sunrise Properties. We can ask them to invest in Lands Corporation.”

“Who runs Sunrise Properties?”

“John Granger.”

Robin was surprised. ‘John Granger again?’ He said, “Jim, use some means to make Sunrise Properties go bankrupt. Tell them they’ve offended someone. The only way to save the company is to let John Granger personally take the investment agreement to Elise Houry in Lands Corporation.”

“If he delays one second, Sunrise Properties will go bankrupt.”
