Chapter 11: I’m Married

“Lands Corporation is way too small. I don’t think the Robin-Sophia Group is willing to work with us. I decided to work with Lucas Corporation to gain the project. Unfortunately, Elise offended Reginald Lucas last night.”

Gordon finally looked at Elise, his eyes filled with anger. It turned out he wanted to blame her after ignoring her for a long time.

“What?”

Elise flinched, blood draining from her face.

She knew Reginald was the heir of Lucas Corporation and had a lot of influence in the company. However, she didn’t expect Lucas Corporation to cooperate with Lands Corporation to gain the Robin-Sophia’s project. The previous night, she was too angry, so she kicked Reginald out of her house.

“Elise, tell us. Did I tell the truth?”

Gordon gazed at her.

“Yes.”

Elise looked pale.

“Last night, Lucas Corporation called me to cancel the cooperation with Lands Corporation. Let me make it clear. Lucas Corporation is one of the companies having the highest possibility to gain the Robin-Sophia Group’s project,” Gordon added slowly, emanating a pressure.

Suddenly, David stood up. “Since Elise has offended Mr. Lucas, eliminated our cooperation with Lucas Corporation, and disabled Lands Corporation to gain the Robin-Sophia’s project, she must be responsible. What do you say, Elise?”

“I agree. We finally have such a good chance. As long as we won the project, Lands Corporation would definitely become great.”

“What an excellent opportunity! Elise ruined it. Alas...”

“Elise, you are indeed incompetent. We’ve made a wise decision to kick her out of the family and the company's management team.”

The directors discussed and echoed, looking at Elise unkindly.

“No problem. I’ll be responsible for this matter,” Elise answered with difficulty, gritting her teeth.

She had to. Everyone in the conference room blamed her. Besides, she did offend Reginald.

“All right. Mr. Lucas has a crush on you, Elise. You should marry Mr. Lucas to unite Lucas Corporation and Lands Corporation,” David suggested.

“No! I won’t do it!” Elise immediately refused.

She added, “I’m married. I have a husband. I cannot marry Mr. Lucas.”

“Married? Elise, all of us know Robin Bailey is good for nothing. How dare you mention him right now! You should feel honored as Mr. Lucas likes you.”

“Do you know who Mr. Lucas is? The oldest son of the Lucas family who has just returned from abroad. He holds a master’s degree and is wealthy and handsome. Isn’t he far better than your so-called husband?”

“You should appreciate this chance. You’ve ruined our cooperation. Otherwise, Lucas Corporation wouldn’t have terminated working with us. This is an excellent opportunity to gain the Robin-Sophia Group’s project. You’ve ruined it.”

The longer David spoke, the harsher his words became. He gazed at Elise, pushing her aggressively.

In the end, he pounded on the table and snapped, “Let me ask you again. You’re responsible for this incident. Will you make it up for us or not?”

“I...”

Elise felt suffocated under pressure.

A man’s voice sounded behind her, “We’ll deal with this matter ourselves, but we won’t do as you expect. After all, like my wife said, she’s married.”

“Robin Bailey?”

Elise turned around immediately after recognizing Robin’s voice.

“How dare you come to our company, Robin Bailey!” David squeezed the words between his teeth, gazing at Robin in hatred.

If it weren’t for Robin, they would have pushed Elise to a dead end, and she would have returned the 10% of the company shares.

Then he wouldn’t have to set up Elise again.

“Why wouldn’t I? I’m a man of integrity and have never done anything evil,” Robin retorted.

“Humph! How will you deal with this matter?” David insisted on asking him.

“It’s none of your business. Anyway, my wife will gain cooperation with the Robin-Sophia Group,” Robin answered affirmatively.

“Gee! So over-confident. Are you bragging?” David retorted ironically.

“Mind your own business,” Robin replied.

“All right. Elise, your good husband made a decision on your behalf again. However, I don’t think you’ll still be as lucky as last time,” David snorted, arching his eyebrow.

“Bang! Bang!”

Gordon paced the floor with his walking stick and said, “Elise, since you’ve made the decision, I’ll make it clear to you. Once you fail to gain the Robin-Sophia Group’s project or reconcile with Lucas Corporation, it will cause a huge loss for our company. You should know what a loss it would be. It wouldn’t be only a few hundred million dollars.”

“Once you fail, it would also be your responsibility. We’ll take back your 10% of the company share and all your properties and kick you and your family out of the Houry family.”

“Since you want to bet, I’ll gamble with you.”

“Dismiss!”

Other directors laughed ironically, looking at Elise playfully. The Robin-Sophia Group was an enterprise from the capital. They didn’t think such an organization would cooperate with an infamous small company like Lands Corporation.

Besides, Reginald was a well-known dandy and only wanted to sleep with Elise.

They believe Elise and her family would be doomed definitely.

“Robin Bailey, how can you bet on my behalf again?”

After all the directors had left, Elise glared at Robin with a pale look. She snapped hoarsely, “Do you know how difficult this matter is? The only breakthrough is Mr. Lucas. Only by working with Lucas Corporation can we have the hope to gain the Robin-Sophia’s project. If I gained the project, I would return to be the chairwoman of the board and gain back my things.”

“This project is critical for me.”

“Forget it. I don’t think you understand anything. Fortunately, I have some connections in the Robin-Sophia Group.”

Elise stormed away.

“Silly woman.”

Robin stared at her receding figure, shaking his head.

However, he suddenly found Elise had a curved body under her suit. Although she had become a mother, her body shape was perfect. Besides, her features were exquisite. Incredibly, her eyes reminded him of the starry night. No wonder Elise was the most beautiful woman in Stillwater. Robin felt proud of his wife.

He thought she looked extremely charming when blowing up on him.
