Chapter 11 You Are So Fully Fledged
The end result would only lead one into embarrassment, something Ayan realized too well from Camille's words, which held inexplicable meanings implying him or totally unrelated to him. Was this just his overthinking?
Camille didn't want to keep talking to him. She was afraid that she wouldn't be able to control her emotions. Since yesterday, she had been constantly reminding herself, "Camille, don't expect anything and don't do this to yourself. It's useless; he doesn't love you. All your hard work won't pay off and it will only make him get bored of you." She took a deep breath and calmed down .
...
The couple drove to the Simpson mansion before nightfall. The mansion was located in the mid-levels villa of Hance City where the first generation of Hance City gentry lived.
Camille walked into the hall holding Ayan's hand while old Simpson waited for them with a kind smile on his face. When he saw Camille, his face lit up even more: "Cami is back! Come over here and let me see if you are well! How is Ayan treating you?"
Camille let go of Ayan's arm and quickly walked over to old Simpson. She rubbed his shoulders playfully as she said: "Grandpa, I'm fine! Don't worry about me! I'm chubby now so I still need lose weight."
Old Simpson glared at her, but pretended to be serious: "Nonsense! Chubby? You're not allowed to lose weight or go on a diet like other people!"
Camille nodded obediently: "Okay, I'll do as you say. You take care of yourself too, Grandpa, okay?"
"Hmph! You girl! How long has it been since you came back here?!" Old Simpson asked while pretending to be angry so that Camille could coax him.
She quickly reviewed; more than half a month had passed since she last left but old Simpson wasn’t mad at her - he just pretended so that Camille could coax him.
A few words from her were enough for old Simpson’s laughter.
Ayan watched from the side as Camile charmed old simpson with ease making him happy again.
His thin lips showed a shallow arc. He thought she was good at coaxing people. In fact, he didn’t quite understand why Old simpson who has been in business for decades awe-inspiring by other people favored only Camile- even his own grandson couldn’t compare with her.
He wondered why this woman was so charming?
He said lightly, "Grandpa, why don't you let Camille come back to keep you company next time on her own? I don't think I need to come back and be ignored."
The old Simpson's smile disappeared as his eyes glared unhappily at him. He hummed lightly, "What? Now that I'm an old man, I can't command you?"
Ayan asked, "How so?"
"You're all grown up now," the old Simpson replied.
Camille saw the tension in the air and quickly spoke out to ease it. "Grandpa, anger can cause wrinkles. Don't be angry."
The old Simpson laughed lightly. "You'll just make fun of me. I’m already an old man."
"I'm telling the truth," Camille assured him.
"This brat needs to be managed," he grumbled. "Don't help him with this or he'll bully you."
Ayan was helpless but hadn't said anything yet when he explained himself: "Grandpa, how dare I?"
"You better not dare, or else I won't spare you," warned the old Simpson.
Ayan narrowed his eyes slightly; he knew what his grandfather's words implied.
Because of Camille's presence, the atmosphere was a little more relaxed. Soon after, Ayan's father Fletcher Simpson and mother Talia Graham returned home and everyone sat down for dinner at a restaurant together. Camille was able to face her in-laws with ease, dignity and good manners.
However, old Simpson didn’t move his tableware which made everyone wait for him before they could start eating their meals.
Suddenly the old man’s gentle magnetic face turned serious and cold as he questioned Ayan with a thick voice: “I heard from Cami’s parents that you want a divorce?”
What's coming is coming sooner or later.
All three pairs of eyes turned towards Ayan and Camille as the atmosphere became instantly frosty.
Camille pursed her lips tightly without saying anything, while Ayan met his grandfather’s gaze with deep-set eyes before whispering: “Grandpa this is between me and Camille, so please stay out of it.”
