Chapter 12: Going Home

"Miss Robson has recovered well after a week of treatment. Her body is in good condition now, but she still needs to continue with nutritional supplements before she can be discharged," the attending physician said to Miles with a warm smile. "Here are all the health data. Miss Robson can be discharged at any time."

Miles glanced briefly at the medical report and nodded, "Just leave it there."

After everyone else had left, Miles handed the report to Madam Reeves. Madam Reeves carefully reviewed the report and said, "Since your health is no longer an issue, we should go to your home tomorrow to propose marriage. The child in your belly is growing, and it's best to get married as soon as possible."

Miles frowned slightly, "Grandmother, isn't it a bit too soon to rush into marriage?"

Claire didn't want to get married so early either. She felt that once they were married, there would be no turning back.

Madam Reeves calmly glanced at her grandson. She knew exactly what Miles was thinking. She simply said, "In just a few days, Mr. Garza and Mrs. Garza from the Korean company will be arriving. They have specifically requested to meet you and your wife together. If you're not married, in what capacity will Claire meet them?"

Madam Reeves' words immediately reminded Miles.

Although Miles really didn't want to get married so soon, personal matters seemed trivial compared to the company's major affairs.

"I understand, Grandmother," Miles chose to comply with Madam Reeves' decision.

Hearing that Miles also agreed to the marriage, Claire's heart sank.

Are they really getting married?

It all happened so suddenly. The transition from decision to implementation was too fast.

Claire's resistant gaze swept over Miles, and Miles felt a slight irritation when he caught her look.

Not wanting to get married was one thing for him, but the other party not wanting to get married was another matter entirely.

Originally somewhat resistant, Miles suddenly found his grandmother's words very reasonable and felt that the marriage should indeed happen soon.

Seeing both Madam Reeves and Miles so determined, Claire knew she had no room to argue.

After all, at this point, what else could she not accept? Marriage was inevitable, whether it happened sooner or later didn't make much difference anymore.

She just didn't want to go home with such a big entourage suddenly, it would frighten her mother.

It would be best if she could have some buffer time to inform her mother in advance so she wouldn't be shocked by the sudden news.

Having sorted out her thoughts, Claire said, "Madam Reeves, may I go home first to inform my family before returning with the Reeves family?"

"No! You are no longer alone, the child in your belly must not be put at any risk," Madam Reeves decisively refused. "You will have all the dignity you deserve. You just need to safely deliver this child."

Claire hurriedly assured Madam Reeves, "Madam Reeves, I have no doubt that the Reeves family's status and wealth will not wrong me. I just don't want to frighten my mother. I want to go home first to inform my family. I promise nothing will happen!"

Seeing Madam Reeves' firm attitude, Claire instinctively looked up at Miles with pleading eyes.

She didn't know why she suddenly sought help from Miles. Maybe it was because there were only three people in the room, or maybe for other reasons, she just did it.

Seeing Claire look at him with such eyes for the first time, Miles inexplicably recalled her smile while trimming flowers in front of the camellias yesterday evening. He impulsively said, "Grandmother, she's not a child anymore, she knows what she's doing."

Hearing her grandson say this, Madam Reeves smiled lightly, seemingly satisfied with their tacit understanding. "What a filial child. Alright, you can go home first to inform your family. However, as Miss Robson of the Reeves family, you cannot go alone. Miles, the assistant who brought Claire to the hospital is quite good—courageous and meticulous. Let him accompany Claire home."

"Whatever Grandmother decides," Miles replied with a slight raise of his eyebrow. Seeing Claire's relieved expression, his eyes flashed with an unreadable emotion.

Having successfully persuaded Madam Reeves, Claire packed up and prepared to leave.

A drove a very low-profile car and took Claire home with lots of luggage.

Despite Claire repeatedly stating it wasn't necessary, A thoughtfully brought gifts for everyone in her family.

A was very tactful, knowing what to say and what not to say, what to do and what not to do.

After delivering the gifts for Claire's family, A promptly left.

"Grandma, these things are for the family, distribute them as you see fit," Claire said as she placed the items on the ground and stood up straight.
