Chapter 11: This is His Child!

For three consecutive days, Claire had become somewhat accustomed to Miles joining her for meals.

Perhaps due to these three days of acclimatization, Miles, who initially felt out of place, gradually started to get used to it as well.

After work, without waiting for Madam Reeves to urge him, he would drive straight to the hospital to accompany Claire for dinner.

Today, Miles arrived a bit early, so it wasn't yet mealtime.

As soon as he got out of the car, he saw the woman through the glass window, smiling as she pruned a camellia.

From the first time he saw this woman, she was either expressionless or silently crying.

He had never known that her smile could be so beautiful.

She was completely different from Dina. Dina had a bold and sensual beauty, while she had a quiet and blossoming beauty, much like the camellia in her hands—its fragrance lingering and worth savoring.

Claire smiled and said to the long line of nurses following her, "This camellia should be placed in a cool area to grow well. Camellia plants prefer shade and moisture. Prolonged exposure to sunlight is actually harmful to them."

"Miss Robson, you know so much!" Having spent several days together, everyone had become more familiar and talkative.

"Because my grandmother also liked to grow flowers. If they didn't grow well, my mother would get..." Claire paused suddenly. "It's nothing. After growing many, you just get to know."

At that moment, Claire heard someone behind her repeatedly saying, "Good evening, Mr. Reeves."

Claire was stunned. It wasn't mealtime yet, why was he here?

As Miles approached, he glanced at the camellia Claire had been pruning, his narrow eyes hiding emotions that others couldn't decipher.

"Do you like flowers? Tell them to put more fresh flowers in your room," Miles said as he walked past Claire.

Claire stood there in a daze. What did he mean by that?

After Miles left, a young nurse couldn't help but whisper excitedly, "Mr. Reeves is so good to Miss Robson!"

Claire felt a bitter smile in her heart. Was he really being good to her? He was clearly being good to the child in her belly!

At that moment, the attending physician came over with a smile and said to Claire, "Miss Robson, it's time for your routine check-up today!"

Claire nodded and cooperatively followed him back to the room.

This was a daily check-up that Claire had gotten used to.

But it was Miles' first time seeing it.

When the sound of the fetal heartbeat was clearly transmitted through the air, Miles' eyes lit up suddenly. He couldn't help but ask, "What is that sound? Is it the baby's heartbeat?"

The attending physician replied with a smile, "Yes, that's the baby's heartbeat. Listen, how strong it is! The baby is very healthy! It seems that Miss Robson's body has finally responded well to the care these days."

Hearing the doctor say this, a strange feeling flashed through Claire's heart.

That sense of blood connection became more and more apparent.

The little baby in her belly was growing bit by bit, forming little by little.

Originally having no particular feelings for this child, Claire now felt filled with anticipation and joy as she listened to the baby's heartbeat.

Standing nearby, Miles' eyes flickered several times. Although he said nothing, the joy in his eyes was unmistakable.

This is his child!

This thought instantly popped into Miles' mind.

After the check-up was completed, Miles' usually stern expression seemed to soften a bit.

During dinner, Miles took the initiative to cut Claire's steak. "Eat more. You're too thin."

Claire didn't really want to eat but didn't dare not to.

However, after taking just one bite, she felt a wave of nausea in her stomach.

Miles noticed something was wrong with her. "What's wrong?"

Claire's eyes flickered. What was wrong with Miles today? Had he gone mad?

Recalling what Miles had said a few days ago, Claire's eyes dimmed.

He cared so much about her only because of his child, right?

Claire obediently finished the steak.

Since she had decided to have this child, she might as well nourish herself properly.

She had also made up her mind during the check-up in the afternoon to supplement her nutrition well.

The next day at noon, Madam Reeves also came by. Seeing that Miles had been following her orders to accompany Claire for meals, she nodded in satisfaction.

After lunch, the attending physician came over to report on the week's observations.
