Chapter 10: Eating Together

Despite her dislike for the man, Claire had to admit that he looked good eating anything.

Someone nearby handed Claire a towel. She took it, wiped her hands, and returned it. The person, following Miles' habit, wiped three towels in succession before pulling out a chair for Claire.

Claire could only sit opposite Miles. After hesitating for a moment, she said, "You really didn't have to come."

Miles elegantly wiped his mouth and replied, "From the moment I decided to marry you, it became my duty. Just a duty, of course."

Claire understood what Miles meant and stopped being pretentious, silently eating the food the chef had prepared for her.

Miles glanced at her and said coldly, "You've already eaten three pieces of salmon."

Upon hearing this, the chef immediately removed the plate of salmon.

Claire couldn't help but laugh bitterly. "Do you have to control what I eat too?"

"I don't care what you eat, but I do care about the child in your belly," Miles said directly to the chef. "Bring her the ginseng soup."

Claire was about to refuse when her phone suddenly rang. She glanced at the number and a hint of sadness flashed in her eyes.

She flipped the phone over, silencing the ringtone.

"Why didn't you answer?" Miles raised an eyebrow.

Claire continued eating with her head down. "It's an irrelevant call."

An irrelevant call? How could an irrelevant call make her look so sad?

Miles just glanced at Claire but said nothing more.

They ate in silence.

After finishing his meal, Miles left immediately. Once the chefs cleared the table, Claire picked up her phone and saw several missed calls.

Seeing the familiar name, Claire felt a mix of emotions.

Since that night she had been with the wrong person, she hadn't answered any of Samuel's calls or replied to his messages.

Her attitude was clear enough. Why wouldn't he give up? Why did he keep calling and telling her about interesting things abroad as if nothing had happened?

Hadn't he suspected that she had changed?

Why?

If only he would disappear too. Maybe then she would feel better.

But for two months now, he had called and messaged every day. Watching him talk to himself broke her heart.

That evening, Miles came again with a group of chefs bringing dinner.

Probably due to her bad mood in the afternoon, Claire had no appetite.

Miles looked at Claire. "Is the food not to your liking?"

Claire shook her head. "No, I'm just not hungry."

Miles frowned slightly and extended his right hand. Someone immediately handed him an exquisite cloisonné bowl.

Miles scooped a spoonful of bird's nest soup and brought it to Claire's mouth.

Claire was stunned, she never expected Miles to feed her himself!

"This child must not be harmed in any way. Eat!" His commanding tone shattered any romantic illusions.

Claire wanted to refuse but had no right to do so. She could only open her mouth and reluctantly eat.

The chefs standing by almost popped their eyes out!

The CEO had always been distant from women! This was the first time he had ever fed a woman himself!

Miss Robson was indeed special, the CEO clearly cared about her.

After a few bites, Claire's face changed suddenly. She covered her mouth, pushed back her chair, and rushed to the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of flushing came from the bathroom.

Miles frowned slightly. When Claire came out of the bathroom, he said, "Even if you don't want to eat, you must. You may not fear hunger, but I worry about starving the fourth generation of the Reeves family!"

Claire glanced at Miles. Knowing he wasn't joking, she silently took the bowl and forced herself to swallow its contents despite feeling nauseous.

What was this stuff? It tasted awful!

She couldn't understand how rich people could enjoy such terrible food!

Seeing Claire obediently finish the bird's nest soup, Miles finally smiled with satisfaction.

The chefs exchanged glances and couldn't help but wipe their eyes.

Oh my God, the CEO actually smiled! He really smiled!

For several days in a row, Miles came to the hospital room to accompany Claire for meals.

It was only then that Claire realized Miles was there on Madam Reeves' orders.

Claire laughed at herself. Of course, she and Miles were only together by accident, there were no feelings involved. How could he willingly come to accompany her for meals?

Besides, just smelling those dishes made her want to vomit. Didn't he find it disgusting to hear her retching?
