Chapter 9: Let's Get Married

Claire had calmed down. She understood very well what the Reeves family represented. Since the Reeves family wanted this child so much, even if she gave birth to the child, they would never let her keep it!

But this child was her flesh and blood. How could she possibly allow the child to be taken away as soon as it was born?

Just thinking about that scenario made Claire lose her composure.

Although Miles only glanced at Claire, he was already certain that this woman had fallen into his trap and had no ability to resist anymore. Advancing by retreating had always been one of his tactics.

"So, what do you want?" Miles didn't give Claire more time to think. "My time is very busy."

Claire lowered her head and thought for a moment. She and Samuel could never go back to the way things were.

She had no way out.

Just because she spent one night with Miles at the hotel, she was almost kicked out of the house by her grandmother.

If the news of her pregnancy reached home, she and her mother would be completely finished.

At that time, she would have no home to return to, and the company would fire her.

She would be utterly trapped with no way out.

Claire gritted her teeth and said, "Fine, I choose to get married! I know the Reeves family needs this child too. As long as we get married, I'll have the baby."

"Since you agree, then prepare for the wedding." Miles didn't wait for Claire to finish speaking before turning and leaving the room. "You can take a long vacation and rest well."

Claire's supervisor received a notification: Claire was given special treatment by Mr. Reeves, allowing her to take a long vacation with full pay and bonuses.

The entire office was stunned when they heard the news.

A female colleague who often bullied Claire and dumped her own work on Claire was suddenly panicked. Why would the president suddenly give such privileges to a low-level employee?

Did they have some hidden secret?

Could it be that Claire's initiative to get close to the president made him see her in a different light?

Other female colleagues in the office immediately felt regretful!

If they had known this would be the outcome, they wouldn't have missed the opportunity!

However, before they could take action, someone else had already paved the way for them.

A female colleague from another department also heard about this and dressed up flamboyantly, waiting on the path Miles took to work. She pretended to accidentally bump into him but was immediately fired.

Upon hearing this result, those eager female colleagues were instantly doused with cold water and didn't dare to act rashly.

But everyone became even more curious. Why did the president care so much about a small employee like Claire?

Claire received the best care in the hospital.

A top-tier medical team served only her.

When Claire took a walk in the garden downstairs, she felt stifled from being cooped up in the ward every day.

But she hadn't walked far before a group of nurses surrounded her.

"Miss Robson, it's windy today, be careful not to catch a cold. You're in the early stages of pregnancy, so it's better not to be exposed to such wind," the head nurse followed closely behind and said. "Madam Reeves has instructed us not to let anything happen to you."

Seeing such a large group following her, Claire realized she couldn't continue her walk and reluctantly stopped. "Alright, I understand."

Since Claire couldn't walk outside, she could only wander indoors.

When she returned to her ward floor, she saw a group of chefs pushing a food cart towards her room.

Claire was puzzled. What was going on?

She returned to her room and saw several chefs setting up an array of exquisite dishes on the dining table.

Seeing Claire, the chefs immediately stood at attention and greeted her. "Miss Robson, this is lunch ordered by Madam Reeves. If you don't like it, we can change it to other flavors."

Claire was dumbfounded. So much food just for one person's lunch?

"No need, I can't eat that much by myself," Claire replied.

From being an ordinary rural girl to suddenly being in the spotlight, she truly felt overwhelmed.

"Mr. Reeves will join Miss Robson for lunch. These are Mr. Reeves' usual dishes," one of the chefs replied.

Claire felt embarrassed, she seemed to have misunderstood!

Wait, what did he say? Miles would join her for lunch?

Before Claire could ask further, she heard synchronized voices outside: "Good afternoon, Mr. Reeves!"

Claire's body tensed up, she didn't dare turn around.

Although she had agreed to marry Miles, he was still a stranger in her subconscious mind.

Miles entered and saw Claire standing there with her back to him. He immediately said, "What are you standing there for? Eat."

As soon as Miles sat down, someone brought him a towel to wipe his hands.

After using three towels in succession, Miles picked up his knife and fork and began eating with extreme elegance.
