Eternity’s pov
After 2 weeks
I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since I joined the team here at Knights Empire Industry. Overall, I’m thoroughly enjoying my work, and the people here are so warm and welcoming. The only exception seems to be the CEO himself, Aaron Knight, who can be a bit arrogant at times.Luckily, I did make fast friends with Avery, the receptionist, and we’ve become quite close. It’s always great walking into such an interesting and varied workplace every day.I’ve even developed a bit of a routine – stopping for coffee on my way in, with one for Mrs. Clark and Avery, and of course, one for myself. It’s those little moments that make my day here all the better.
Eternity’s outfit
Introducing my fashionable self, clad in a black little number that’s longer than a mini but shorter than a midi. Topped off with a sharp white jacket and sleek black boots. To keep my luscious brown locks out of my face, I tied them up into an elegant ponytail. As I strolled away from Starbucks, I made sure to grab a little something to keep me going – three cups of coffee, because one just won’t cut it.But before I could strut any further towards the towering skyscraper of the Knight Empire, a shady character appeared. Dressed in black from head to toe, with a hood covering his face, he handed me a mysterious brown folder and uttered only two words : « Keep it. » Intrigued, I was about to ask for more information when he vanished into thin air. I stood there, stunned, clutching onto the enigmatic folder with a perplexed expression. What secrets could it hold ? Only time will tell..
« What’s up with the random act of kindness ? » I whispered to myself before deciding to hold off on opening the mysterious folder until I reached the office.I strutted into the Knight Empire’s Skyscraper like I owned the place. As I breezed past Avery’s desk, I left a cup of coffee, cementing our friendship forever. »Aw, you didn’t have to ! » Avery beamed at me. »Please, a cup of joe for a friend in need is the least I can do, » I replied with a wink.Next up was Mrs. Elle Clark’s, head honcho of my department. As I placed the coffee on her desk, she graciously thanked me.I couldn’t help but look dazed, though. My mind was still mulling over the brown folder from that shady hooded dude. What’s the deal with that thing anyway.
« Well, well, well, what’s got you looking like a cat on a hot tin roof ? » she whispered inquisitively. »Oh, nothing, just feeling like a rooster who crowed too early, » I retorted while avoiding her gaze like a game of dodgeball.Until I sauntered over to my desk and caught sight of that ominous folder. I perched myself on my chair, gnawed on my lip and dared to delve into its contents.Lo and behold, my skin started to tingle with the sight of what was inside. Confidential information about Knight Empire, my employer, alongside some highly personal details about upcoming deals.Well, isn’t that peculiar ? Such top-secret information is typically reserved for the boss and owner of the company, no ? »
Have you ever had a burning desire to reveal a secret to someone ? That’s how I felt when I approached the elevator with my brown folder, filled with the truth that I desperately needed to share. As I ascended to the CEO’s Floor, my heart was racing with anticipation. I knew that speaking to the CEO was the only way to find answers to my burning questions. When I arrived, I wasted no time and quickly proceeded towards his office, greeted by his friendly assistant Ancy. I needed to speak to the CEO and share my burden, and with your encouragement, it could be the step towards uncovering a mystery that has been plaguing me for far too long.
As sweat trickled down my forehead and tingling cramps writhed in my stomach, I desperately asked the receptionist, « Can I please meet Mr. Knight ? It’s very important. » Her smile fell, and she gently replied, « I am sorry, Eter. Sir is currently away in California. »Feeling defeated, I whispered, « Um, okay, » clutching onto my folder as if it was a lifeline. The sympathetic receptionist asked if there was anything she could help me with, but I couldn’t find the words to say anything. Offering a weak smile, I thanked her and walked away from the CEO’s floor.Later that evening, I was engrossed in my work when a bodyguard suddenly appeared before me. « Excuse me, Miss Granger, you are being summoned to the CEO’s office, » he informed me. With a sense of trepidation, I stood up and headed towards the elevator, anxious about what awaited me.As soon as we arrived at Aaron’s office, my eyes fell upon two individuals. One was a middle-aged man with a stern expression, while the other was a young girl who looked quite innocent in comparison. Surrounding them were several lawyers, all of whom appeared quite serious about the matter at hand. Unfortunately, my boss Aaron Knight was nowhere to be found. The middle-aged man immediately rose to his feet when he spotted me and introduced himself as Coyle. Despite his hard expression, he greeted me with a polite tone before quickly getting down to business. »Miss Granger, we’re glad you could join us today. We need to know where you were this morning and who you met with, » he said, leaving no room for any small talk.I responded calmly, « I’m happy to help, but can you please clarify the reason for all these questions ? » »That’s because you’re involved in a crime investigation, » his younger colleague, who had blonde hair tied back in a ponytail, chimed in.With a sympathetic tone, she added, « It seems that our surveillance and investigation have led us to believe that you received a package from someone this morning. » As soon as she mentioned it, I remembered the mysterious package I had received earlier that day.
« I did receive something, » I said to them.
The woman looked at me with a mix of confusion and concern in her eyes, « Oh, » she said softly.Coyle turned to me, « Do you have that document ? »I fidgeted nervously, « Yes, it’s at my desk. »After what felt like an eternity, the guard appeared with the document. They examined it thoroughly and their faces fell as they realized it contained confidential information about Knight Industries.Coyle turned to me, his voice laced with suspicion, « Why would someone give these documents to you ? Were they collecting them for you ? »I felt my anxiety rising as they began to investigate me, asking questions about the incident. I tried to remain calm, but couldn’t help poking my tongue lightly into my cheek and inhaling a long breath.Despite my fear, I remained steadfast in my claims that I didn’t know the hooded man. To my relief, they seemed to believe me.After what felt like hours, the CEO of Knight Industries, Aaron Knight himself, arrived in a crisp, wrinkle-free Armani suit with two men following behind him. I couldn’t help but feel a pang of anger towards the arrogant jerk. Coyle, Abby ! He acknowledged them and cast a sleep-deprived gaze in our direction. His deep crystal blue eyes locked onto me, and I could feel his unwavering stare. His disheveled hair was evidence of his frustration, yet he still exuded an irresistible handsomeness. But as I analyzed his features, I couldn’t help but notice the intensity in his eye contact, the tightness in his jaw, the furrowed brows, and the reddened skin that all hinted at his pent-up frustration. »You ! » he shouted, his voice echoing through the room as his furrowed eyebrows and clenched teeth sent a shiver down my spine, tightening my muscles and causing cramps in my stomach. It was then that I realized the grave extent of trouble I had found myself in.
