Eternity pov

As I gradually peel back the covers, I can’t help but feel a bit sluggish. Blinking several times, I try to adjust to the sudden beams of sunlight streaming in through the window. Eventually, I manage to sit up, let my feet touch the floor, and rub my eyes vigorously. Arms above my head, I give a good stretch and let out a big yawn.

Living in my own place here in New York City is pretty sweet, especially at the ripe age of 21. No need to worry about living with my parents anymore !

Eternity apartment

My bedroom may be on the smaller side compared to my living room, but it’s still cozy and fits everything I need perfectly. My bed takes up a good amount of space, but I adore having it nestled in the middle of my square room. You’ll often find me curled up with a good book, basking in the natural light streaming through my window. Hidden storage above my built-in wardrobe keeps things tidy, although most of my belongings are stored under the bed. A roomy black shoebox keeps all my footwear organized, and I have a mirror hanging beautifully above a small table on my off-white walls. My tall white dresser is full of clothing, and my bedside table holds an alarm clock, rose-red touch lamp, and a snazzy blue Bluetooth speaker.

As I was scrolling through social media, I realized how boring my life may seem at times. However, I believe that with hard work and passion, every day holds the potential to be extraordinary !

In the morning, I head towards the restroom to take care of business before putting on my trusty sweatshirt and shorts. Then, it’s time for breakfast, and I make my way to the kitchen to grab something from the fridge.

Suddenly, the sound of a door interrupts my routine, and I jump in surprise. « Surprise, Eter ! » My best friend, Olivia, greets me in her unmistakable voice.

Overwhelmed with emotion at seeing my childhood partner in crime, I press my fist to my mouth to hide my grin. « Olli, you’re back ! » I exclaim.

Olivia is in London on business, and her visit is a complete surprise. We’ve been best friends since elementary school, so seeing her again is a joyous occasion.

« I wanted to surprise my hag, » Olivia explains, wrapping me in a tight embrace.

As we catch up on each other’s lives, I can’t help but ask about Olivia’s trip. Recovering from her hug, I tilt my head back and grin, « So, spill the tea, bitch ! »

« Geez Louise, that was a total migraine-inducing situation, especially with our lovely branch manager there to make it worse. But I managed to keep my cool, despite the foaming at the mouth, » quipped Olivia.

« You’re a real champ for holding it together. I’m pretty sure that guy wouldn’t have survived if you unleashed your inner Hulk on him, » I remarked, scanning the fridge for my morning toast toppings.

« Ha, you got that right. Let’s just hope he never sees the dark side of me, » Olivia replied, flexing her fingers with a slightly crazed look in her eye.

« Good call. So, speaking of things that we like, have you thought about that dress we saw last time we went window shopping ? » I suggested, swiftly changing the subject before things got too heated.

Just a heads up, careful not to push her buttons, my bestie can get pretty wild when she’s upset. ;)

« Well, well, well, what do we have here ? » Olivia’s voice dripped with intrigue as she revealed the exquisite photo frame, glistening in the warm light of my apartment.

My eyes widened in excitement as I took in the childhood image of us peering back at me from the frame. « Holy hell, Oli, this is frickin’ awesome ! » I exclaimed, unable to contain my joy.

« Ha ! I knew you’d love it, » Olivia chimed in, a mischievous glint in her eye. « I mean, who wouldn’t want a picture of us as cute little munchkins ? Am I right ? » she added, nudging me playfully.

« You’re definitely right, » I replied, feeling a sense of warmth spread through my chest. « Thank you so much, this is amazing. »

Olivia simply smiled and placed the frame in a prominent spot in my living room. « Now, let’s get down to business – Starbucks time ! » she declared, grabbing her head and pulling a face.

I couldn’t help but laugh at the gesture. « Sure thing, Oli. Let’s go grab some Vanilla Bean goodness. »

And with that, we were off – two childhood friends, taking on the world one sip of coffee at a time.

« Hell yeah, count me in ! I hugged myself as I strutted towards my boudoir, channeling my inner fashionista. I snagged my go-to white sweatshirt, black jeans, and beloved white kicks. One single, fierce French braid later, I slicked on some ravishing Babylips lip balm and decided my naturally stunning face didn’t need makeup. Why mess with perfection ?! »

I grabbed my backpack and placed my credit card into it and reached out to the living room.

Olivia is lying on one of the couches in the living room watching a random movie while munching chips. She is in blue jeans with a yellow tank top and a denim jacket over it. Her black hair is in a ponytail.

« Ready ? » I asked while locking the door of my bedroom.

Olivia lifted her eyes at me and grinned.

I snatched my trusty backpack, slid my credit card into the deepest abyss, and sauntered towards the living room where Olivia was parked on the sofa, engrossed in some random movie, chips in hand. Her attire could only be described as a masterpiece of denim and yellow – a true fashion icon.

« Game time, Olivi-baby. You ready ? » I uttered, locking my bedroom door behind me.

Olivia glanced in my direction and flashed a mischievous grin.

« Boy, oh boy, you look like something the cat dragged in, » she teased as she wiggled her eyebrows. Typical Olivia.

« You know it, Witch, » I shot back, rolling my eyes but secretly relishing in our playful banter.

Our friendship is a rare gem – we show our affection through a plethora of colorful names like wanker, whore, and hag. A bond like no other, one could say.

« Let’s hit the road, Bitch ! » Olivia exclaimed, jumping off the couch and flailing her arms like a bird in flight.

We strutted out of my apartment building and hopped into her car, ready for what’s to come. And with Olivia by my side, I knew it would be an adventure worth writing about.

As we park the car at the caffeine haven that is Starbucks, I inhale deeply, enjoying the intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee. My stomach rumbles with excitement, doing a little jig that would make even the most nimble rats jealous.

« I’ll grab our orders, you hold the fort, » Olivia declares, whipping out her credit card with a flourish.

« Sounds good, but please hurry – my stomach is singing an opera over here, » I reply with a sheepish grin, leading us to a cozy little table.

After coffee, gossip, and laughter, we reluctantly leave Starbucks – only to be interrupted by Olivia’s buzzing phone.

« Hello ? » she answers, brows furrowing at the sound of a colleague’s voice.

« Ugh, work emergencies are the worst, » I sympathize.

« I know, right ? » she groans, rubbing her hands together in worry.

« I’ll drop you off at your place, » she offers kindly.

As soon as Olivia departed, I wasted no time and hopped onto a bicycle I rented from a website on my phone. Before I knew it, a boy appeared from nowhere, offering me the keys and showing me the magnificent bicycle that was soon to become my trusty steed for the day.

For as long as I can remember, my heart has always belonged to biking. The thrill of the wind in my hair, the speed of the path and the ups and downs of the road has always been a source of sheer joy for me. To be able to explore places where cars can’t go – be it the lush green grass or the dusty rugged roads – is a freedom that I will always crave for.

It’s a luxury that not everyone can afford. Being able to propel oneself and strengthen one’s body while having a ball of a time is a gift bestowed on few. And as I effortlessly zoom past the cars that pollute and the passengers who sit in them, I feel the sense of empowerment coursing through my veins.

But as I was pedaling away on my bicycle, I caught a glimpse of the Lexus LC – a true epitome of luxury sports. My obsession for cars reared its head again, and I couldn’t help but be in awe of its sheer magnificence. Nevertheless, I was content with riding my bicycle and quenching my thirst for adventure.

As I careened towards the colossal wall looming in front of me, I suddenly realized the impending disaster. My mouth gaped open, my upper lip curling back in terror. Clutching the handlebars of my bicycle, I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for impact.

But then something unexpected happened. Strong hands wrapped around my waist, lifting me up and spinning me around. The bike skidded away, and I collided with the rough surface of the road.

I cried out in despair, feeling overwhelmed by the situation. My body was trembling, and I struggled to catch my breath. But then, as time passed, the pain subsided, and I gradually calmed down.

Opening my eyes, I felt my muscles tighten with tension as I surveyed my surroundings. Despite the chaos and confusion, I attempted to steady myself and regain my composure. In this moment of fear and uncertainty, I longed for reassurance and understanding.
