Chapter Four
Chapter 4.
"I got the job!"
"Oh my goodness! I got accepted!" Lelia squealed in excitement. With the mail in her right hand, she ran into her mother's room, her eyes beamed with joy.
"I got the job, mother, I got the job!" She yelled so loudly that her mom covered her ears with her hands.
"I am so happy to hear this darling, you have always wanted this"
Lelia laughed at her mom's words
"Wanted? Mother, I have craved for a job like this. Not just any type, but an assistant secretary in a powerful and affluent company. I still can't believe my lucky mother, I thought I ran out of luck months ago when I got rejected twice." She held the paper and stared countless times at it just to be certain that she wasn't dreaming.
"You do deserve this job. This Is a very huge opportunity and I am happy you were able to bag the job."
Lelia smiles.
Just a year ago, she was allowed to interact with humans due to her being a werewolf.
Lelia has always taught her as different.
A beast
Or a curse.
Her siblings were all perfect humans but she wondered why she was born as a human with werewolf abilities to her human parents.
She hated this right from her childhood.
All her life, she has been locked up, away, her childhood was filled with sad memories. Every day, Lelia watched as her neighbors were being picked and taken to school but she wasn't given that chance.
Her parents have always been worried for her. They fear that she might be bullied or reveal her identity if she had associated with her mates or attended a school.
All Lelia wanted was to be free, to see the outside world meet humans. She has spent all her life being homeschooled, meeting friends online, and watching the outside world from her window like a locked-up princess.
Every day, she sobs.
Hated herself and cursed that she was a werewolf.
She remembered the night of her eighteenth birthday, naive Lelia sneaked out of her house through her room window only to get lured and kidnapped by a couple in a van. To Lelia's shock, sensing danger, she transformed into a wolf and killed the couple instantly. She wandered back home with her body covered in a pool of blood. Her parents quickly took her in and ever since then, she promised herself not to step outside until her parents decided the right time.
Ever since that night, Lelia dreaded vans and hated walking alone at night.
Her parents endeavored to always shut her room windows just to prevent her from killing any more humans.
After that incident, Lelia acquired a high school certificate after graduating and finally applied for an online course.
At the same time, her parents never failed to train her and make her ready to associate with the outside world. They knew it was going to come soon and they never failed to protect her.
On her 21st birthday, her parents finally gave her the freedom she had always craved her.
Lelia's joy had no bounds.
They took her to many places and they explored the beach.
Lelia was so amazed at how big the world was, the image before her was quite larger than her imagination and she couldn't help but stare in awe, her lips filled with thanks to her parents.
"Mother, I need to get a job." Lelia broke out with her mother one evening during dinner.
Surprised at her daughter's words, her mom gazed at her, her expression was unexplainable.
"A job?"
"Yes Mom, a job."
"But, why do you need a job? You have everything being provided for you. Have you forgotten how rich you and your father are? We can provide for all your needs without you adding a cent. You don't lack anything and all your bills are being taken care of. What else do you want, Lelia?"
"Mother, I am a grown-ass woman. I can't sit and laze around with my certificate because my parents are rich. I can't keep letting you guys pay for my expenses. I need to be the boss of my own, and this will help me develop my social skills as a human '' she pounded, her eyes searching that of her mother who didn't look pleased.
"Lelia" her dad spoke for the first time.
His eyes were filled with love for his favorite daughter.
"Listen to your mother. You were let go for just a year, I don't think you are fully ready to handle a job and be around people all the time. What if your anxiety comes in and you shift in front of people? This is going to be very dangerous Lelia and I don't think I and your mother are ready to lose our daughter to some scientists for stupid experiments."
Lelia wasn't buying it.
"I am tired of being treated like a child."
"You are our child."
"But this is my life!" She fired as tears welled up in her eyes.
Her mom sighed.
"We aren't saying that you won't take up a job. What we are afraid of is your anxiety taking total control of you. Why don't you give yourself time, at least, two or three years? Maybe by then, I and your mother will see reasons to let you do as you please."
Angered, Lelia stormed out of the dining room and locked herself in her room. She refused to open her door to her parents for two days. Not wanting it to go on, her father finally gave in even though her mother was still skeptical about it.
"I guess you are happy now?" Her mother asked, watching her daughter stare at the mail.
Lelia laughed.
"Very happy mother, I am thrilled. I am asked to come over to the office tomorrow morning. I can't wait!" She squealed in excitement and ran into her room.
Quickly, she picked up a dress. She has worn it once.
"I guess you are the perfect dress for a special occasion." She beamed with smiles and her stomach flustered with a thousand butterflies.
