Chapter Three

Chapter 3.

The night breeze held her strongly. With loud sobs and endless flowing tears, Lelia ran deeper into the woods.

Her heart was broken.

Shattered into countless pieces.

There is nothing that can ever mend her broken heart or heal her from the pain she is going through.

"Gabriel…" she muttered, pain and love written in her voice.

The look in his eyes when he rejected her. Lelia has never seen Gabriel in such a mood nor has he spoken to her with so much hate.

His words were like sharp knives, every word that came out of his mouth made her heart bleed.

"What wrong did I do Gabriel?"

"What is my offense to you?"

"We were on good terms before tonight, what changed?"

Immediately, Lelia howled in distress, her fingers began to elongate as thick hairs covered her skin. She glanced at the full moon, her blue eyes were as sharp as ever.

At once, she transformed into a werewolf, running faster than before. She couldn't think of anything else but Gabriel's words.

Why?

This word rang in her head.

Why did he change all of a sudden?"

She knew deep inside that Gabriel was her mate. She has never felt so attached to someone the way she does with him. He always makes her feel safe, everything about him makes her feel like a complete woman only for him to disgrace her in the presence of his subjects.

"No!" She howls loudly. The moon shone so brightly that it made her see the path before her.

Hot tears blinded her eyes and her heart couldn't stop pounding hard and loud.

Gabriel.

Her handsome boss.

A man and Alpha she fell in love with.

She isn't a golddigger that wants him because of his wealth.

She loves him.

Deep in her soul.

More than anything.

Her heart beats in a fast rhythm every time he is with her.

His words,

Smile,

Endless affection he pours to her but what changed?

"What changed Gabriel? Why did you do this to me? Made me a fool in front of everyone? Did you invite me to the festival just to humiliate me?"

Anger began to rise in her.

She clenched her teeth, her eyes shone with deep hatred.

"I hate you, Gabriel! I hate you!" She howls with more tears flowing. She has never experienced heartbreak and no one told her it can be this devastating.

At that moment, she wished Gabriel was present for her to ask him all the questions that troubled her.

Was he pretending to love her?

If he wanted to reject her, why didn't he do it before his invitation? Why invite her just to make a fool of her?

She tightened her hand in a fist.

An alpha?

An alpha my foot!

Selfish beast!

Lelia fastened her sight so hard, she tried so much to ignite a deep hatred in her heart towards Gabriel but it wasn't working.

She kept on running.

Running as fast as her four feet could take her.

All she wanted at that moment was to get to the city and bury her head on her bed, crying away her sorrows.

Being rejected by her mate hurt her so badly.

She has always known Gabriel to be very secretive.

Although he has never told her he loves her, his actions every time they are together speak louder.

What must have happened for him to change his attitude towards her?

Was something wrong?

Is there anything Gabriel is hiding away from her? The Gabriel she is familiar with will never cause so much pain to her.

"If there is something wrong, why can't he just open up to me? Why did he choose to hurt me instead?"

"What must he be hiding that changed him from a gentleman to a heartless beast?"

She shakes her head.

He slapped her.

Harder than anyone has ever done?

The Gabriel she has been friends with won't even hurt a fly.

"Why Gabriel? Why?" She lamented countless times, biting her lower lip. All she wanted was to take the pain in her heart away but nothing was working.

Her heart ached the more.

She tried to breathe but it was so hard for her.

Lelia felt her heart about to fall out of her chest.

Gabriel has rejected her and there is nothing she can do about it.

She will never force herself to be loved by any man, human or beast.

She will never beg to be mated by a man who has clearly rejected her and warned her clearly to stay off his path and that of his pack.

If Gabriel thinks she isn't worthy enough to be his Luna, then she will give him that peace he craves.

Never will she yearn for him.

"No Lelia! That's a lie! You can lie to anyone but yourself. We both know that your heart beats for no one but Gabriel. You can't let him go no matter how hard you try, no matter how much you choose to forget about him. You love him and will always do." her inner wolf spoke for the first time ever since she ran out of the pack.

Lelia sobs.

"I know Gabriel to keep things, lots of things to himself. I am certain that there is something he isn't telling us, something that resulted in him rejecting us. This didn't just occur out of the blues, something dangerous or serious must have triggered it." her inner wolf spoke again.

More hot painful tears rolled out of her eyes.

"Then what do you want me to do? How can I live without Gabriel, he is my mate! How do you expect me to get another mate?"

"The moon goddess will provide you with a second mate. You were clearly rejected by Gabriel, and once an alpha rejects you, no one can change his mind except himself." her inner wolf pointed out.

"So what do you suggest I do?"

Her inner wolf growls.

"Show him! Yes, Lilia! Show him what he has lost. Do not bury yourself under your bed sheet and cry your eyes out. The best revenge you can give to him is to make him see what he has lost. You are a trophy to any man or beast and Gabriel will have to learn this the harder way."

With a nod, pain flowing through her veins, she wiped her tears and ran further.

At once, memories of the past began to flood her mind and everything goes back to when she first met Gabriel, her beast in shining armor.
