Chapter 4: Wedding Day

Lily stared longingly at the wedding dress she was going to wear on her wedding day. The wedding dress looked expensive and luxurious, Lily felt disgusted when she saw the dress. She didn't even touch the dress. Unlike Ester who looked excited because she saw her daughter's wedding dress which was very expensive and luxurious.

“Look at this Lily. You are the luckiest girl in town, having married a wealthy man,” Esther said shamelessly and laughed with satisfaction.

“No, I'm not. I don't even feel happy anymore after you sold me out and made me a slave in that rich family!” replied Lily with bated breath. Her mother's words made Lily very angry and she wanted to slap Esther.

“You insolent child! You should be thanking me. You don't realize there are thousands of people who would be in your shoes right now! You even keep blaming me!” Esther shouted loudly. She didn't hesitate to say that to her own daughter.

“So? Let them take my place. Let them be the second wife! I don't want any of this,” Lily told her mother and threw all the fancy things around.

Esther was furious at her daughter's behavior. She rushed over and grabbed Lily's long hair.

“Remember! You won't be able to run away anywhere! You will remain a money-making machine for me!” Ester whispered right in Lily's ear.

The girl winced in pain. Her hair felt like it was going to fall out of her scalp. But Lily tried to hold on with all her might.

“Remember that!” continued Ester then released the hold on Lily's hair. The girl could only smile bitterly. It turned out that she had been a money-making machine all along.

“You insolent child!” Ester scolded before leaving Lily alone with all her sorrows.

The girl sat down limply. Her head was still throbbing with pain. She felt like her hair was falling out of her head.

“This pain is not worth the fate I'm facing,” Lily said fixing her messy hair.

Getting up, she looked at herself in the mirror.

“Look. Even more, my body seems to be losing its life.” Lilu looked sadly at the reflection of herself in the mirror. The girl seemed to have lost her world. The girl was looking more and more miserable by the day.

Soon, some maids came and entered Lily's room without permission. The girl looked sad at the behavior of the servants who seemed to be happy with Lily's suffering.

Soon the maids sat Lily on the dressing table chair. Their hands moved quickly, Lily did not even have time to resist. She really couldn't do much. Today her wedding would be officially held.

“Shut up!” scolded a maid who was applying Lily's makeup. The maid was angry because Lily had been crying, and as a result, the makeup that was applied to Lily's face was smudged.

“Don't be a hypocrite. Aren't you happy about this marriage. What woman wouldn't be happy to be married to the richest man in town,” another waitress chided. Her words managed to make Lily clench her fists. But she soon realized it was useless to fight their evil mouths.

“That's right. You're very lucky to be in this position. Even thousands of people out there are expecting to be married to a wealthy man,” said one of the other maids.

They were busy talking about Lily right in front of the girl herself. Shamelessly, they stopped babbling as if they were intentionally making Lily emotional.

The girl could only close her eyes, she had resigned herself to her fate that would soon become a second wife.

The wedding dress was already perfectly fitted on Lily's slightly thin body. The girl did not even want to look at her reflection in the mirror. She was afraid that she would not be able to accept this reality anymore.

“I hope there is justice for myself,” Lily muttered softly before being picked up to the wedding altar.

The girl was still faithfully waiting inside her room. Her body was ready in a very expensive and luxurious wedding dress. But her heart was not ready to accept the fact. Lily trembled even more when the time came for her to become the second wife.

“Mother, can you please cancel this wedding,” Lily murmured in a pleading manner when Esther came to take Lily to the altar.

“Cancel? Don't even dream about it. You will still be Alex's second wife. Remember that!” Esther replied cruelly.

The girl could only look down in resignation. Once again she lost and ended up crying on the altar of a wedding that should have made her happy.

Lily's father arrogantly led the girl to the altar. The man had considered her a part of the wealthy family in their town.

“Help me, Father.” Lily said softly. But her father didn't care and smiled more with pleasure at his daughter's marriage.

Lily arrived at the altar. There stood a man who was none other than Alex. The girl took a quick glance at the man who would become her husband.

Alex wore an expensive and elegant suit. The aura of luxury clearly radiated from Alex's tantalizing body. But Lily was not a girl who had such an outlook. She had never thought of marrying a wealthy man with a tantalizing masculine touch.

Lily was silent. She was reluctant to even look at Alex, which made him quite offended. Then with a single embrace, Lily was perfectly pressed against Alex's broad chest.

“Don't expect you to run away from me, let alone kill yourself!” Alex whispered making Lily instantly terrified. How could she be married to someone who had such a cruel voice.

Instead, the people who saw the scene applauded loudly. They thought Alex was a romantic man.

Meanwhile, Sasa smiled bitterly at her husband's behavior. She was forced to give up her husband to marry another woman. Sasa's heart ached even more when she heard the applause after Lily and Alex were officially married. Especially when she saw her in-laws who seemed happy to welcome Alex's second wife.

“You're all evil! You're deliberately playing with my feelings. Can't you be a little patient. I will definitely get pregnant,” Sasa muttered sadly. She could only surrender. The people around her whispered their condolences to her for being widowed.

“It's a pity for Sasa. Even though she's married to one of the richest men in the city, her heart must not be at ease. Look, even Alex's second wife is still young and fresh,” muttered the people around Sasa who had dared to talk about her.

“Insolent! I won't let you have a child from Alex!” muttered Sasa, clenching her fists tightly. She stared intently at Lily.

The girl could only surrender. She briefly glanced at Sasa who did not let go of her gaze on Lily.

“I know, you must be very upset with this unfair fate. If I could choose, I wouldn't want to be your husband's second wife,” Lily thought to herself. She shed tears again. Meanwhile, the people around her laughed happily, especially her parents.

“We are finally part of a wealthy family. I never thought the time we've been waiting for would finally come,” said Esther with a happy face because she had successfully sold her daughter to a wealthy man in the town they lived in.
