Chapter 3

The moment Sonia left Camile's family mansion she walked to her shop to continue baking since she still had some orders to deliver. She spent the whole day at the shop baking and delivering people's cakes and when she checked the time it was already 6:30 in the evening. She closed the store and went home. When she got home she was greeted by her younger sibling Mark.

Soni, where are you from? Because when I got up in the morning you were not at home.

Sorry big boss I just went out for some work.

And how did it go? Mark asked again. Mark let your sister go freshen up so she can join us for dinner on time. Sonia's mother said from the kitchen 

The work went well. Let me freshen up and come back so you continue asking me questions okay? Sonia said and walked away from her younger brother to the kitchen where she saw her mother making dinner.

Good evening mom

Good evening dear, why are you late today?

I was at the store, Mom. I had some orders and delivery to do.

I thought you said you were going to your friend's place. 

Yes, Mom, I went there and they chose the type of cake their need and since the party is in two week time I decide to finish with all the orders I have so I won't have excess work to do on that day or that week and also my friend mother gave me 500,000 for my payment for the cake they need.

Wow, is that money too much for you to use and bake the cake, and by the way which type of cake did you need?

Well Mom the money was much because the total amount of money needed for the four-step cake they needed and the cake design was 300,000 but Camile's mom told me to keep the remaining 200,000 because it was her support.

The woman is good. You know that a friend of yours is a good friend and such a friend is very difficult to find so make sure you avoid everything or anyone who will want to separate you both because there will be no relationship that will be better than your guy's friendship.

Okay, Mom and you don't need to worry yourself because no one or nothing will ever separate our friendship. Mom let me freshen up. I will join you soon. Sonia said and was about to leave the kitchen when something came into her mind. By the way, mom Camile's mother asked me to greet you.

Okay, and when next you see her greet her for me too.

Alright, Mom. Sonia said and left the kitchen to her room.

After some time she came out of the room and sat down on one of the chairs at the dining table and they all had their dinner together. Mom please there is something I will love to discuss with you. 

What is it? Sonia's mother asked worriedly.

Mom is nothing serious. Mom is just that, a friend of mine is looking for someone she could trust to handle her fashion store and she asked me to help her find anyone interested in it.

And you are asking me to know if I am interested right?

Yes, Mom. What she needs is someone who can control the business now that she is not around because she already has two sales girls there and the person she needs is someone she can trust.

But dear, do you think I can take care of your friend's store?

Yes, Mom I know you can have you forgotten you are the one taking care of us so you can also take care of the store.

Yes, Mom big sis is right. I know you can do it. Mark said

It seems like both of you already plan on it before informing me about it so I can only say yes to it.

Wow, Mom, thanks so much for accepting the job let me call her, and Mom you don't need to worry yourself because you are already my friend.

Is it Camile? Sonia mother asked

No, Mom, it is Patricia. Sonia answered 

Wow, Patricia, how is she doing?

Well, Mom, she is fine and the main reason why she wants to hand her business to someone to control it for her is because her husband needs her at his company.

Yes, Mom let me call her now and inform her. Sonia said and took her phone to call Patricia after about 2 rings the phone was finally answered.

Soni, you call late any problem? Patricia asked the moment she picked up the call

Sorry for disturbing you this late and there is no problem at all, just that I have found someone who can help you with your store. Sonia said 

Are you serious? Hope you are not joking.

Yes Patricia you told me to find someone you can trust and to think of it you know my mother very well so I thought she will be the best candidate especially now that she told me she is tired of always staying home the whole day That is why I told her about you in need of someone to control her business and she accepted since it your business.

Alright if your mom has accepted to work then I don't have any problem please can I speak to her?

Sure. Sonia said and put the phone on speaker.

Good evening Aunty. 

Good evening dear. How are you doing?

Aunty am fine and thanks for accepting to work and my workplace 

No problem dear. You are just like a daughter to me and there will be no use if I refuse to assist you out.

Alright, Aunty, All you need to do is just help me supervise my two sales girls in the store, and at the end of the day the report makes you go through it first before you call me to give me an account of what happened in the store for the whole day and if you can't get to me allow a message and a photo of the account book for the day and you are to do that every day and the money sold for that day should be kept somewhere and I will show you the place when we meet tomorrow aunty.

Lastly, your salary will be 80,000 for now and it shall increase as time goes by.

That is not a problem there. Just that 80,000 is too much.

No Aunty it is small is just that all this while things have not been going well and I haven't brought new goods but don't worry I will buy them tomorrow so Aunty please meet me tomorrow at 3 in the afternoon at Landmark Street and please tell the travel you are going to Patricia fashion house. The man will just drop you at the location. 

Alright dear that won't be a problem. Sonia's mother said and the call came to an end 

Wow, Mom you now have a job and they will be paying very well.

Yes dear at least I will now have small savings and I will be able to contribute to the house expenses. Thanks so much, dear for encouraging me to take the job.

It is nothing, Mom. I just wanted you to be happy because whenever you are happy I am also a happy mom.

After a long chat, they all went to bed and as usual Sonia got up early and went to her shop but since her mother still has 3 pm to go to work she decided to arrange and prepare food in the house. After ensuring that the house was perfectly in good shape Sonia's mother rushed to her room to freshen up and prepared to leave the house and by the time she was at Patricia's workplace, it was still early which made her happy for coming on time.

One of the sales persons helped open the door for her to come inside and when she did she met Patricia arranging some of the new goods she brought.

After she was done arranging the store she introduced Sonia's mother to the Sales girls as their new boss and that they should respect her and everything she asks them to do or else they will be fired from their work.

After Patricia was done discussing with the sales girls she took Sonia's mother to her office and said Aunty this will be your new workplace and should in case anything gets finished please call me on time so they can deliver the new stuff also Aunty this is my book shell if you want to keep any money which was sold for the day, you open this cupboard by pressing the button which is found behind this book Patricia said and press the button and the cupboard open and took them to another room. 

Here Aunty any box has its date so when you are keeping the money write the date of that day and then press the button under the box and it will open like this and you can then keep the money. 

Wow dear this is a very brilliant method of keeping your money safe.

Yes, aunt, I don't like banks, because when they notice you have lots of money in your bank account they will start increasing the taxes. That's why I keep just small amounts of money in my account.

Wow, dear, that is a great idea. Sonia's mother said and they both left the room to the office where Patricia started teaching her about some basic stuff like the sale price of the goods and also their market prices. 

It was exactly 6 in the evening when they closed the store and Sonia's mother went home and heated the food she prepared for dinner they all ate and went to bed and just like that time went by very fast and it was already the day of Camile's birthday. Sonia was just grateful since the party was to start around 6 pm. I will be going now to Camile's place. I need to check on the cake I baked last night to see if the icing design is alright. You don't need to worry yourself. I will change my clothes there when it is time for the party and don't forget to attend the party at 6 pm and you can bring Mark along and for Dad please beg him to respect himself when he gets there. Sonia said and left the house for Camile's place.
