Chapter Eight

Nina's POV

After I sat his plate in front of him I grabbed my plate and sat down at the island across from him. He spoke up and said that he wanted to talk to me about something and I noticed that he sounded a little nervous. I said yes but before we talked about what he wanted I asked him about his mark first. After he told me that he got it at midnight of the 12th I realized that he got it the same night and time as I had gotten mine, seeing as the 12th was the day I turned 18. I guess when the clock struck midnight signalling my 18th birthday it triggered my protector side that was dormant until I became of age which also triggered his mark and fate of becoming the next Alpha King.

As we were eating I told him that I knew what his mark meant and why he had it, as he sat there just staring at me stunned as I stared down at my plate nervously. I took a couple deep breaths as I finished eating my food quickly and I tell him that while I was out from the rogue attack and my fall that the Moon Goddess came to me in my dreams and told me what I was and what my purpose and what our marks meant. When I was done he asked me about what the Moon Goddess had told me about his mark but I wanted to know just how much he knew about the tale of the Alpha King and his protector.

"What do you know about the Alpha King and his protector?" I asked him as I stared down at my empty plate. He told me everything that he knew about them which wasn't much seeing as not much was even known about the subject. I stand up and put our dishes in the dishwasher before I sat back down across from him and closed my eyes and focused on revealing my mark so that I sat there utter unveiled. I was nervous about doing it but then I remembered that he had already seen it and it was just the two of us so I figured it wasn't that big of a deal to do. I trusted him a lot even though we didn't really know each other he was my mate and future Alpha King so if there was anyone I could trust it was him.

After revealing my mark I opened my eyes and looked at him and see him staring at me with adoration and awe swirling around in his gorgeous metallic blue eyes. I sat there nervously playing with my fingers as I wait for him to say something as he just sat there staring at me before he finally broke the silence that fell between us.

"You are absolutely fucking gorgeous" He says as he reached out across the island and took my hands in his. I looked at him and watched as he let one of my hands go as he reached up to trace the moon and filigree on my face sending sparks throughout my body from every little touch he gave me. He already knew about the one on my face since I let my mask sip when I found out we were mates and if he thought I was beautiful now then I couldn't wait to see his reaction when he see's my wolf.

"So you going to tell me the story behind our marks yet?" Alpha Dark asked me as he rubs his thumbs across the backs of my hands.

"Well as you know by my mark I am a special kind of wolf and when I shifted for the first time and showed my adoptive parents they told me to never show or tell anyone my wolf ever so I never did. My wolf has the same kind of marking as me and in the same place. The night of the 11th when the clock read midnight making it the 12th I woke up with a burning sensation on my face and I ran to my bathroom to splash water on it to make the feeling stop and when it finally did I looked at my reflection and I had the crescent moon and filigree across my forehead just like my wolf.

Since no one was to know anything about my wolf I had to hide everything from the outside world. You are the first person since I shifted to see it, so when the Moon Goddess told me that I was the protector of the next Alpha King and that my mission was to find him" I tell him while he listens to me attentively.

"So I got this the same night as you did when it officially became your 18th birthday" he states looking at me to make sure he was right.

"I believe so and when I asked the Moon Goddess how I would be able to tell who the next Alpha King was from any other werewolf and she told me that he would have a distinctive mark on his chest right above his heart. She also said that the mark he would bare would be that of a two-tailed wolf silhouette." I finished saying as I looked at him to see what his reaction would be.

Confusion was written all over his face at what I had just told him. "Wait, wait, wait are you telling me that I am the next Alpha King?"

"Yes and there's something else you should know about me or rather about my wolf that is" I tell him cautiously

He stares at me intently before he nods his head for me to continue with what I had to tell him. I took a few deep breaths before I tell him about my wolf.

"Well you see my wolf is very different and not what you would expect and it would probably be easier if I showed you rather then explain it to you" I say to him in a low voice

"Well then let's head outside so you can show me and don't worry there shouldn't be anyone around. I like my privacy so no one really comes around but if you would like we can go to my private training area. It's the one place no one but my Beta knows about so there will be no chance of anyone seeing you if that makes you feel better" Alpha Dark says to me while he takes my hand in his before leading me to the door before I even get a chance to answer him. He seems very eager to see what my wolf looks like.

It's been a while since I had let my wolf out for a run and Brea is jumping and howling and going crazy in my mind just waiting to be let out. She has been cooped up for too long but now I will be able to let her out more often for runs and training since we finally have somewhere safe to shift.

"Your private training area sounds like a good choice. I don't want anyone knowing about my wolf because if people found out and then word got out I don't want what happened to me old pack to happen to yours." I reply back to him slightly scared by what could happen if anyone I didn't trust saw my wolf and told others about it.

"Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you and what happened to your old pack will never happen again especially here alright." he says back to me with the widest grin I have ever seen anyone made making him kinda look like the cheshire cat. I let him take my hand again and lead me to the clearing he uses as a private training area. The clearing is beautiful and there is even a very big and deep pond at the far end of the clearing which looks like it would be nice and refreshing after a vigorous training session.

Once we are in the middle of the clearing where there were some big rocks placed there probably for jumping over and jumping off of and over your opponent. I get Alpha Dark to sit on one of the big rocks as I head back over to the edge of the clearing and strip off my clothes behind a tree placing them in a neat pile on the ground before I started to shift into my wolf. The only sounds that rang out in the clearing were the sounds of my bones breaking and repositioning themselves.

As soon as I am fully shifted into my wolf I slowly walk over to where Alpha Dark is on the rocks and nudge him with my big snout. Since I am the daughter of the previous Alpha King and the protector of the new Alpha King my wolf isn't exactly small, I'm actually pretty big I'm just as big as an Alpha male's wolf. When he finally turned around after I nudged him he looked at my wolf and his jaw literally hit the ground as he stood there mouth agape just staring at me in amazement and wonder.
