Chapter Seven

Gray's POV

The next morning I awoke to find my mate missing from my bed. I sit up and throw on some sweat pants and forego putting on a shirt as the faint smell of food cooking wafts into my nose. I leave my room and make my way towards the kitchen. When I round the corner to the kitchen I see my mate standing there in her pj's as she stands at the stove cooking breakfast for us.

"Good Morning" she says without looking at me

"Morning gorgeous" I say back as I watch her cook

I sit on one of the bar stools at the island in the kitchen watching her move around the kitchen. She turns around and sets a cup of black coffee in front of me and then sets the creamer and sugar in front of me as well before returning to what she was doing.

"Thank you" I say huskily

I know the effect my voice has on her as I watch a shiver run down her spine before she speaks again.

"I hope you don't mind me making you breakfast seeing as you made us dinner last night." She says while she finishes cooking and placing it on 2 plates.

"It's not a problem darling, I actually like not having to make myself something for once" I say back while fixing my coffee and taking a sip of the hot liquid.

Nervous I run my hands through my bed head "There's something I want to talk to you about"

"Okay what do you wanna talk about?" Nina asks me as she places a plate of food in front of me. I look up at her as she's staring at me blushing. I realize then that I wasn't wearing a shirt and she was definitely checking me out.

"Like what you see?" I ask her seductively

She looks away blushing even harder as she looks down at her plate and start to pick at her food to avoid looking at me. I smile and start on my food before it gets cold when her shy little voice breaks the silence.

"Where did you get that mark on your chest?" my mate asks me with shock and realization written across her face.

I rub the back of my neck before I look up at her and tell her, "Well you see I never used to have it until it just appeared one night before the 12th. I was sound asleep when I woke up with a burning sensation on my left peck and after a little bit the burning feeling stopped. When I looked down I saw that this mark had appeared and when I glanced at the clock it was midnight telling me it was officially the 12th and then I didn't really think much of it and went back to sleep confused as to why I had it and what it meant." I tell her truthfully before I go back to eating.

"No one knows that I have it as I keep it covered all the time." I say between mouthfuls of delicious food. I look at her and she's staring at me like I have two heads. The mark I have on my left peck right above my heart is the silhouette of a two-tailed wolf howling. I notice Nina staring at me for a little while longer before she continues to eat her food across from me. She's about 3 quarters of the way done her food when she says something very odd yet very intriguing to me.

"I know the truth about your mark" She tells me between bites of food. I sit there and stare at my mate letting what she just said to me sink in.

"H-how do you know what it means?" I question her looking confused by how she could know when I didn't and couldn't find anything about it either.

"After I was attacked by that rogue and your Beta brought me back her to your pack hospital, the Moon Goddess visited me in my dreams while I was out cold. She told me why that man wanted me and why he killed my pack. She also told me what my purpose was which is why I have my markings and she also told me what your mark means." She said staring down at her empty plate while she played with her fingers nervously. I sat there staring at her in amazement and then I quickly finished my food before turning to her and giving her my complete and undivided attention.

"Okay so what did the Moon Goddess say about you and our marks?" I ask her to explain as she peaked my curiosity with wanting to know more.

"First, how much do you know about the Alpha King and his protector?" She asks me out of the blue confusing me more.

"I don't know much since not much is actually known about them. The only things that is well known is that the protector is some especially rare wolf that's usually female and rarely male. They are the only ones who are destined to be able to find the next Alpha King when the previous one dies. They say that they can identify him by some mark on his body and that the marks on their human forms are also on their wolfs fur." I tell her as I recall what little I knew and could find on the subject.

I sat there and watched her as she closed her eyes and focused on revealing her mark and not hiding it from me. I knew she was used to hiding it from people for a long time since she didn't even have to think about doing it. I looked at her and thought just how beautiful she was with her white hair, metallic blue eyes, and the very nice black crown mark on her face making her look so regal and majestic and unique.

Nina's POV

I wake up and walk downstairs and find the kitchen and start making some breakfast for Alpha Dark as a thank you for him making me food last night and for letting me stay here for the night. As I was cooking I could smell his scent getting stronger as he came towards the kitchen and sat down as the island. I turned around after saying good morning to him and hand him a cup of coffee and then I set the creamer and sugar in front of him so he could fix his coffee. We talked a little as I cooked and then when I was done I turned to give him his plate of food when I noticed that he wasn't wearing a shirt. I couldn't help but stare at him and examine all the dips and curves of his muscles that rippled under his skin as he moved. As I was staring at his well toned and sculpted body I noticed the black silhouette of a two-tailed wolf on his left peck right above where his heart is. While I stared at the mark the Moon Goddess's voice rang out through my mind as I recalled what she had told me.

'The next Alpha King will have a mark of a two-tailed wolf silhouette on his chest above his heart' the Moon Goddess Selene told me. I then realized that this man in front of me, my mate, was the next Alpha King which would make me his protector and his Queen.
