CHAPTER 5 : REJECTED MATES

‘Dear mate:

Do you attend my university or do you attend another but maintain touch with Crystal and Keith? Whatever it is, I wish I don't meet you because I am terrified of meeting you. Just thinking about you makes my chest hurt, my body hurt, and my head hurt. You rejected me, and I'm supposed to avoid you now, but I can't. I believe I am going crazy and will die soon as a result of the rejection that is slowly killing me like poison. Whatever the case may be, I will make every effort to avoid you. Is it even necessary for me to write to you? I should stop writing to you because we are no longer mates. You know what these letters will now be for, my future second mate, or you can read them after I die.

Alexander sighed as he stood up and grabbed his bag, keeping his diary inside. He stretched as he yawned, tired from not being able to sleep at night due to all the thoughts that ran through his mind.

Alexander hummed in approval as he tested his clothes and whispered, "You rejected me, and now I hope you suffer." He was dressed in black jeans and an oversized orange shirt that reached his knees. He let his hair down. He grabbed his sneakers and wore them.

“Let’s just go out to relax” Alexander whispered as he grabbed everything he needed and walked out of his house after locking it. He kept the keys in his bag while he just walked down the stairs not wanting to take the elevator. He exited the building as he hummed a melody while he walked towards his university when he felt someone walking behind him as he shuddered in fear.

“Ignore Al ignore” Alexander spoke to himself as just kept on walking when he saw a car stopped next to him.

“Hey, Alex” Alexander stared at him confused as the person rolled their window down making Alexander sigh and giggle.

“Hi Rei and Daisy, how are you?” Alexander questioned as Rei answered “I am good kiddo”

“I am doing great what about you?” Daisy questioned as Alexander sighed answering “I am not doing fine because I am sleepy” which made Rei chuckle.

“Come on in, everyone is going to Keith's place, so he told me to get you too.” Rei talked as Alexander sat in the back seat, nodding his head and looking back to see no one, which made him sigh with relief.

“You can try sleeping for a while” Daisy spoke as Alexander yawned nodding his head while he laid down on the back seat closing his eyes and just relaxing.

Alexander’s fluttered open as he looked around to see himself on a comfortable king-size bed. He sat up all confused as he yawned scratching his head confused.

“How did I end up here?” Alexander whispered all confused as he shrugged his shoulder while he stood up.

The room was quite big and simple. One wall was colored red while the rest were in grey. The frames of beautiful scenery caught Alexander’s eyes as he stared at them when the door opened startling him.

“Oh, it’s just you” Alexander huffed out seeing his ex-mate.

“Yeah, it’s me. I just came to check you since it’s been 4 hours and you didn’t wake up” Jace huffed annoyed as Alexander remembered he was supposed to be with Rei and Daisy.

“How did I end up here?” Alexander questioned Jace who smirked as he answered “You were asleep and Rei was carrying the groceries so he asked my help”

Alexander’s eyes widened as he coughed covering his face since he was all red. “W-Where is Keith? Why didn’t he carry me?” Alexander questioned as he looked around for his bag when he saw it on the table.

“What’s with you going after someone’s mate?” Jace questioned as he solved a Rubik’s cube while Alexander answered him “I am not going after him. He is my brother besides being carried by him is thousands of time better than being carried by an idiot”

Alexander stood up as he grabbed his bag, he unzipped it and took out his mobile throwing the bag on the bed. Jace sighed as he kept the Rubik cube aside while he walked towards Alexander who was now using his mobile.

Jace angrily pushed Alexander towards the wall trapping him as he spoke “Well jokes on you because you are in a house that belongs to the idiot”

Alexander’s face flushed red as he pushed Jace away while he spoke “That means I should take my leave and go to Keith’s house”.

Jace noticed the embarrassments written all over Alexander’s face which made him sigh while he touched his own wrist where ‘Richa’ was written.

“Keith and I live together” Jace spoke as Alexander suddenly stopped as he glanced back at Jace to see him staring at his wrist.

“Oh, wow what a coincidence. You should stay away from someone’s mate” Alexander used Jace’s words which made Jace laugh as he shook his head and said “Keith’s mom and my mom are best friends so we practically grew up together as brothers”

Alexander didn’t know what to do or say. All he wanted was to stay away from Jace who had not only trapped him against the wall but also picked him up and to top that he had also rejected him.

“Well like I care” Alexander spoke as Jace sighed noticing the sad tone.

“If you have so many problems, why don’t you go out of my room” Jace spoke seeing how uneasy Alexander was now feeling.

“Y-You should have said sooner because I-I never wanted to ever enter your room” Alexander stuttered out as Jace hummed while he spoke “You are already here so why creating such a big fuzz?” which made Alexander irritated.

“Stop annoying me and go to your mate” Alexander half yelled as he turned around.

“…” Jace had nothing to say except he kept on staring at his wrist.

“Idiot” Alexander spoke bitterly as he walked out of the room.

The house was extremely big like a castle in Alexander’s eyes even though it was just an apartment that Jace shared with Keith and Crystal.

Jace stayed quiet as he sat on his bed when he saw a diary so he opened it and read the first page in a low voice.

“If lost give it to Jace or give it back to me. Me as in Alexander Edward from music and art department”

Jace sighed as he rubbed his face while he shrugged his shoulder and kept the dairy under his pillow since it did say to return to him after all. Jace stood up as he followed Alexander to see him sitting next to Crystal with his mood now being jolly.

“Takes few seconds for him to be happy” Jace muttered annoyed as he rolled his eyes when he saw Alexander giggle while he tried to hid which made Jace smile.

“Oh, Jace you are back” Zain spoke as Jace stopped smiling as he saw Alexander glance at him and roll his eyes.

“Yeah, but I am going out” Jace smirked as he wore his shoes ignoring his friends.

“Where are you going?” Keith questioned as Alexander starred at Jace who replied “To meet Richa” while Alexander sadly averted his gaze.

“NO, DON’T GO” Daisy and Ruby yelled in unison as Jace raised his eyebrow while they both starred at Alexander.

Jace groaned as he waved at his friends while he yelled “Whatever bye” as he walked out of the gate while Keith and Crystal started cursing since they were quite annoyed at their childhood friend.

“Why don’t you let him meet his mate?” Alexander questioned confused as Crystal glanced at Keith who nodded his head.

“Jace’s mate named Richa was his girlfriend in high school days and she loved him dearly. We thought she would love him forever but one day suddenly Jace came home crying that his mate ran away with a human guy. Her mate hates wolves” Crystal spoke as Alexander just stayed quiet.

“…”

“Why aren’t you saying anything?” Maya questioned as Alexander shrugged his shoulder while he stuttered out “I…I don’t know what to say”

“Obviously he doesn’t, that heartless idiot rejected him” Keith bitterly said as he clicked his tongue annoyed.

“Just give him time and everything would be fine” Alena spoke as Alexander glanced at her confused.

“How can you be so sure?” Alexander questioned as Crystal replied “Because this is normal for our Jace”

“He will like me?” Alexander questioned with hope as Daisy sighed knowing how omega wolves carve love and only a few can get especially if they are males.

“I am not sure about that because he already rejected you and he is crazy for Richa even though she is married. He visits her every day and just sees her all happy with someone else” Keith spoke as he clenched his fist tightly remembering all the pain his friend had gone through.

“D…Doesn’t it hurt to see the one you love with someone else?” Alexander questioned since he loved his mate dearly and seeing his mate with someone else hurt him a lot.

“It hurts a lot but Jace has been through this once” Zain spoke as glanced at Aleena while he gestured her to go to Alexander who had tears in his eyes.

“Babe, he will be yours” Crystal spoke in a low voice as Aleena hugged Alexander who suddenly started to cry.

“I don’t care if he loves me or not but how come that girl leave him? Doesn’t she know what mates are? How can someone do that? How can she be so heartless?” Alexander cried as no one knew what to do because, in the end, Alexander didn’t care about his feelings.

“I…I am scared. What if Jace’s name disappears one day?” Alexander questioned as tears streamed down his cheeks while Keith replied “That will happen if he doesn’t accept you”

When your partner rejects you or stops loving you, their name fades. Jace had loved Richa in the past and still did, so the name on his wrist wouldn't change, but the name on his collar bone could because he wasn't in love with his new mate.

“I know it happened to a neighbor of mine when I lived with my parents. She loved a boy who was her mate but he rejected her so his name slowly vanished from her collarbone but soon a new name came to her wrist.” Alexander spoke as he wiped away his tears as his friends who were all wolves understood the pain.

“She’s lucky to have another mate” Daisy whispered out knowing how it feels to be rejected since she saw how Crystal cried for days after Keith rejected her before but he later apologized saying that he was wrong to think an alpha couldn’t be with another alpha.

“Yeah, not everyone is blessed with the second mate” Crystal spoke as she glanced at Keith who smiled at Crystal while he pecked her lips.

“I am sure you will have the second mate if Jace rejects you” Ruby huffed out annoyed at Jace for rejecting Alexander who was like a little brother to her.

“I hope so too because an omega like me can die” Daisy spoke as she felt sad for Alexander who was trying his best not to cry.

“Yeah, omegas willpower isn’t much” Rei spoke as he hugged Daisy since he could tell she was feeling sad.

“Don’t worry, we won’t let anything happen to you. You have us” Rei smiled at Alexander as Maya spoke “Let’s see what Jace does and after that take the next step”

“What next step?” Alexander questioned confused while Keith answered “A fake mate to make that idiot realize that he loves you”

“He loves Richa not me. We can’t change someone’s feeling” Alexander sternly spoke as he faked laughed.

“I agree with you but that girl is married and he can either have you or die.” Crystal half-yelled angrily as Alexander shrugged.

“I think you would prefer you rather than death?” Maya spoke as Alexander sighed and nodded his head, saying, "Yeah, I'll do whatever you say, just give him time."

“We will allow him time, but you must speak with him. At the very least, be his friend.” Aleena grinned at Alexander, who hummed in agreement.

They all suddenly heard the door open and close as Keith looked in the direction to see Jace.

“How come you've returned so early?” Keith questioned as Jace hummed while responding, "She...She was busy," which worried Crystal as she noticed Keith's eyes red.

“I'm going to see if he's okay,” Crystal said as she stood up before Alexander grabbed her hand and stopped her.

“Can I go and cheer Jace up?” Alexander inquired, hoping Crystal would agree as she sat down, cupped his cheeks, and replied, "Sure."

Crystal let go of Alexander, who stood up and walked up to Jace's room, knocking on the door.

“COME IN” Jace yelled as Alexander entered the room and saw the guitar in Jace's hand as he sat on his bed with red eyes.

Alexander knew he had to cheer up his mate and that is what he planned to do even if they were known as ‘rejected mates’
