CHAPTER FOUR

ASHER’S POV

The walk, or should I say the journey to the living goes on in total silence and I can’t seem to get that girl off my mind.

Her hair, as black as ebony. It looked rough and very unkept but it’s beautiful all the same.

Her eyes, as blue as a millionaire’s swimming pool. I would give anything to swim in them.

Her lips, as smooth and tender as rose leaves in a coppice wild.

Everything about that girl was hypnotizing and how I wish I could see…

“Asher!” A thunderous voice sounds my name, rudely ripping me from my thoughts and I instantly stop on my tracks. That’s when I realize we have arrived at our destination.

The living room of the almighty Alpha Adolph and his very famous throne gracefully sited Far North of the living room.

I scan the around and notice there are guards at every corner of room and I’m tempted to scoff.

Of course he feels insecure. I am an Alpha and technically, he is not. My presence must definitely intimidate him.

“Nice to meet you Alpha Adolph”

Right now I just want to chew my tongue and swallow it. That is how disgusted about the fact that I have to address as Alpha. He is no Alpha.

“Nice to meet you too, son of Arthur” He says extending his hand for a handshake which I willingly take with my fakest smile plastered on my face.

“Please have a seat” Be cheerfully offers.

“Thank you” I make myself comfortable on the nearest couch while Kane and the others remain standing.

I don’t know, but I notice that I keep looking at the door if I would see at least a glimpse of that girl again, but I know that won’t happen. For as long as we both are in here, no servant will be allowed to trespass.

How disappointing!

“Asher…”

“With all due respect Alpha Adolph, I would very much appreciate it if you’d address me properly and by properly, I mean by my Alpha title”

“Oh… forgive my indulgence, Alpha, I didn’t mean to disrespect you”

“You have been forgiven. I was told you requested to see me”

“The message reached correctly, Alpha Asher”

I can feel the sarcasm in his tone, but I just smile. As long as he calls me Alpha, I don’t care if it’s hurting his pride.

“Why have I been summoned, if I may ask?”

“I was told that you have not been very much around to know how pack issues are handled. Before your father passed away, you took pleasure in mingling with the humans and you even gave up your right as Alpha to your younger brother. Is that true?”

“As much as I’d like to know how you got to know all this, I think it’s irrelevant as of now. But just so know, I wasn’t just mingling with the humans, they have a well defined educational systems which caught my interest and I intended to study as much as I could but that dream of mine was shattered when my father passed away. Now I’m back to my pack to take over as Alpha, I hope they told you that too”

“Of course they did, but I’m just worried that there might be a few things you are not aware of, especially the deals your father and I stroke while you were away” He explains and I look at him with creased brows.

“What deals, if I may ask?”

“Well, you see, two years ago, yout father was facing a major rogue problem. The rogues seemed to be invading his pack more than usual and it was getting out of hand. He ran out of ways to fight them so he reached out to me for assistance and so we stroke a deal. I helped him fight off the rogues and restored peace in his pack, and in return, my daughter was going to marry his eldest son, that eldest son which happens to be you!”

“No! You are lying, my father will never do that to me behind my back. If he were to strike a deal of such magnitude, he would let me know! You are lying!” I point out fearlessly and he just laughs as he takes calculated steps over to the table at the center.

Right now I’m fuming in anger and my wolf, Kai, is ready to bolt out at any given time, but I know I have to keep him in.

This is another man’s territory. Starting a fight in another man’s territory is the dumbest move ever!

“I had known the day would come when either you or father himself would try to deny this, so I made sure to keep the evidence of the event in as many ways as I could and this happened to be the most concrete! Have a look” He stretches forward a piece of paper towards me and I hesitate to take it.

I’m scared that this might be evidence of what he just said.

That my father actually stroke that deal without my consent.

That will break me.

“Go on, don’t be shy. Have a look” He insists and I reluctantly take the paper from his hand.

The first thing I read is the heading, then I look down at the signatures and when I recognize that of my father’s, a beat of sweat trickles down my right temple and my breath hitches.

My eyes go over the sentences over and over again and the minute I’m done reading, I feel all hot and sweaty. My palms are sweaty and without warning, I drop the paper to the floor and look up at Kane and the guards.

“So, you see…”

“You planned this, didn’t you?”

“I’m afraid I don’t know what you are talking about”

“You made all this up, this was all your plan!”

Right now I’m trying hard to not raise my voice but I can feel my temper slowly giving away.

Sooner or later I’m going to cause a scene and that will not be good at all.

“I didn’t make anything up young man, this is just a deal”

“Why do you want me to marry your daughter? What do you gain from that?”

“Her happiness my boy, her happiness means everything to me”

“This was done without my consent, I have the right to object!”

“No you don’t. You were sold off by your father and you have no say in this. You have clearly seen his signature on that paper. Failure to adhere to the terms and conditions of that deal, you and you pack will face apocalyptic consequences. You very well know I have a reputation of bringing misery upon packs and Alphas who go against their words. You wouldn’t want your precious pack to be the next to feel my wrath, do you?” He narrated as he switched his glance over to Kane and the other guards who look petrified.

I stay on the spot, fuming in anger which I know is very unnecessary at the moment.

When Alpha Adolph says he will bring misery upon a Pack, he will do just that and I’m not willing to let that happen to my subjects.

After all, it’s just marriage and his daughter is a werewolf, just like myself.

I can do this.

“Fine then, you win! I will marry her and you are going to take your eyes off my pack for ever”

“Done! Come back in two days time to take your bride to be”

“That’s too soon!”

“I’m afraid it’s not up to you to decide on that. Just do as I day if you love your subjects” He threatens and I go mute. “In two days time, I need you here to take her over to your pack. Is that clear”

“Clear as day, Alpha Adolph” I rise up from my seat and straighten up my over all. “If that’s all then, I will take my leave now”

“Won’t you at lease see your bride to be?”

“I’m going to spend the rest of my life with her, Alpha. I can wait two more days for to see her, I have pack business to coordinate back at home”

“My guards will see you out”

I don’t even wait for his guards to lead the way, I bolt out of the living room and my Beta and guards follow me.

I stop on my tracks when I hear familiar scream from a room nearby.

I can swear that it’s the voice of the servant girl I saw a while ago.

“Freya it wasn’t intentional, I just bumped into him unknowingly” I hear her defend and I immediately understand that she is being punished for bumping into me earlier.

“That’s because you are nothing but a blind klutz!” The sound of a smack follows the insults and the servant girl comes running out of the room.

My heart skips a beat when I see her tattered self running away from her oppressor and I fight my urge to go after her. When she sees me, she immediately runs into another room and that’s when her oppressor comes out of the previous room looking all furious and hideous but the moment she sees me, she stops a d smiles.

“Alpha Asher!” She calls in amusement and I recognize her to be Alpha Adolph’s daughter.

The girl I’m supposed to get married to.

I don’t wait for her to get close to me, I hasten my steps out of the castle and make my way to my Range Rover that’s still parked at the yard.

The moment I arrive at my pack, I’m going to let Kai out and go for a long run to get things settled on my mind.

Never in my life did I ever think I would end up with the heartless daughter of a tyrant.
