Chapter 6
Talon's Perspective
[Flashback continues]
Just as I anticipated, I ran into our mate again in a misty forest one month later, when I got wounded from killing a senior member of the Purple Moon Pack, the pack my mate belonged to.
“Talon!” Shocked to see me here and find me covered in blood, she called out.
Without asking any question, she immediately slit a few strips from her nightgown to dress my wound, despite the risks of getting caught and exiled by her Alpha.
“Mate cares for us!” Exalted by our mate’s gesture, my wolf and I both felt stronger as the connection between mate and us deepened.
Right after she finished handling my wounds, the footsteps of the searching force approached.
"It's time for you to leave," she urged me in haste.
But I could tell in her voice the emptiness of having to send me off.
As the searching force drew closer, I dipped a kiss on her lips after asking her name.
Then my wolf took control and darted away.
“Mate! Caitlyn!! Mate!” On our way back to the pack, my wolf kept roaring in excitement when mate’s scent lingered around my nose.
“Mate’ll be by our side soon.” I wanted to calm my wolf down, but found I myself was no less thrilled than it.
[Flashback ends]
******
“Getting you filthy hands off her!” My wolf roared when a hewolf’s hand was about to fall on my mate’s face.
After dashing a long distance, my wolf sniffed the faint trace of mate’s sweet all the way along. As her scent got strong, we finally stooped in front of Caitlyn’s house.
I stepped forward to stop Jayce,.
"Are you feeling all right?" I turned to Caitlyn’s side after twisting Jayce’s arms and threw him away forcefully.
“T-Thank you." Instead of answering my question directly, my mate murmured her thanks, dodging my eyes.
Her response confirmed my guess. I didn’t hear it wrong: my mate was pregnant with another hewolf’s baby!
“Ahh!!!!” My wolf howled in tremendous pain when I turned to look at her tummy again.
"T-Talon? " Noticing I’d been quiet for a few minutes, Caitlyn asked tentatively, interrupting my thoughts.
"It’s okay. I happen to pass by. I’m simply doing this to return your favor," I said in a flat tone, turning my back on her to leave.
"What a torture," I whispered to myself while taking a step. Because she was a human, I was the only one who could feel our bond as fated mates.
"It's yours," she suddenly spoke out, “The baby’s yours, Talon. You’re the father”
My feet froze upon hearing her words.
I turned back over my shoulders, only to find Caitlyn look me in the eyes affectionately, caressing her still flat tummy.
“It's yours.”
“You're the father.”
Her words swirled in my head over and over again. I didn't see this coming.
"We got her pregnant at one try? What a sharpshooter!" My wolf chirped cockily.
"I saw this coming. I know you wouldn't believe me. But I can show you the test result from the doctor.” With that, she went home and soon came back with the report.
“Here.” She handed the paper to me.
In the findings, it was confirmed that Caitlyn was five weeks pregnant.
"It's exactly five weeks since we had a one-night stand with mate in the hotel!" My wolf cannonaded inside my head.
“But don’t worry. I’m not gonna ask you to make me your Luna because of this baby.” Caitlyn nibbled her lower lip.
“I’m happy about this baby,” I told her calmly.
"What?" She muttered, completely shocked. "You may not know it, but I’m a human. Human and werewolf is never a blessed match. This is why Jayce, my ex-boyfriend, chose Morgana over me. Plus…”
"There’s no plus, Caitlyn. I'll take care of you and my pup," I interrupted her, opening her palm and leaving my calling card there.
"But you'd be shamed for having a human mate, Talon. That will weaken you! Other Alphas could use me against you."
"You'll never be a weakness of mine." I looked at the card in her hand. "Call me when you feel okay with this arrangement."
"Just tell her the truth, Talon! Tell her that we are her fated mate!" My wolf urged me impatiently.
Just as I was about to hush my wolf, a car pulled over in front of her house.
"It’s my dad!” Clearly, Caitlyn freaked out. “He's not supposed to be home this early!"
“Relax. I’m gonna meet him eventually," I patted on her shoulder before turning to the door.
When the door was pushed open, both Caitlyn's father and I froze.
We knew each other!
I didn’t expect Caitlyn’s father to be Pantheon Hart, who used to be my father’s best friend but betrayed him later!
It had been years since we last saw each other, but I knew Pantheon Hart remembered me.
"Our fated mate is the daughter of the shifter who betrayed your father?!" My wolf was consumed by rage, “Is the Moon Goddess fooling us around?”
It took me great efforts to stop it from taking control and attack the man in front of me.
"Oh…I didn't know we’re having a visitor." Pantheon cleared his throat, breaking the dead silence in the tense atmosphere.
“D-Dad, this is Alpha Talon. He helped me out when Jayce came over here harassing me.” Caitlyn told her father in a stuttering manner, wringing her hands nervously.
“It’s good you’re home now,” I spoke out in a flat tone, “Caitlyn got pestered by a hewolf when I passed by, so I stepped in to drive him away and sent Caitlyn home.”
"Thank you so much Alpha Talon, for helping my daughter out," Pantheon responded, pretending that we never knew each other.
I nodded and left their house with hardened knuckles.
"Fuck!" I cursed out loud, running nonstop towards the misty forest.
Brimming in rage, I transformed into my wolf form and took out my anger on the rogues that I came across along the way.
