Chapter 5 He will never love her

Ayan's response to Eileen's distress was warm and reassuring. "I'll go over now and have the caregiver stay with you first, okay?" His tone was always nonchalant, but after hearing Eileen's words, his gaze became intense.

Eileen felt relieved by his answer. "Okay, I'll wait for you."

When they hung up the phone, Ayan instructed the maid to remind Camille to eat dinner before he left in his car.

The car's engine soon sounded, and Camille stood at the master bedroom window, watching the black car drive away.

Camile's white and soft face was flooded with cold indifference, the corners of her mouth overflowed with self-deprecating light smile, the mind is full of the image of how Ayan left quickly worried about Eileen.

He really does love Eileen, so what else is she hoping for?

It was the first time in over a year that Ayan didn't come home except for business trips. Camille tried not to bother him by texting or calling him; instead, she focused on being a dignified wife who didn't bore her husband.

Her mother had taught her how to be a good wife when she married Ayan - but despite doing everything right - he still wasn't attracted to her.

The truth hit hard: He hated her so much as a person that he couldn't love her at all.

Camille had no choice but to accept reality: "He never loved me," she told herself repeatedly throughout the night.

She slept poorly and woke up early when Ayan called.

"Are you awake?" he asked.

"Yes," Camille replied sleepily.

"Prepare some clothes for Eileen to change in the hospital. She doesn't want other people to see her now, so bring them here by yourself."

The demand was made with the tone of a statement.

Mixed emotions were swirling inside of her. Camille's face was pale and colorless, her soft, thin lashes fluttering as she froze for a moment before asking, "You want me to bring them to the hospital?"

The man on the other end of the line replied with equal indifference, "Yeah, bring them over."

Camille hesitated. "I don't know Miss Khan very well. I'm practically a stranger to her. Would she even want me there?"

"She won't mind," he said dismissively. "Just get here as soon as you can."

Camille pursed her lips tightly together until they were almost white with tension. She could feel something clenching painfully around her heart and told herself that this would be the last time she did something she didn't want to do for him.

Her eyes were cold and clear when she spoke again: "I'll be there in an hour." Without waiting for his response or any further conversation, Camille ended the call abruptly.

She tried hard not to let her emotions show, but felt an overwhelming sense of pain building up inside of her until it became almost unbearable.

Was he doing this just because she had come back last night in Preston's car?

Regardless of his reasons or motives behind it all, Camille knew one thing for sure: She wanted out of this marriage more than ever before.

Eileen had only just woken up; what would happen if things continued like this every day?

She couldn't bear thinking about it any longer and quickly grabbed two outfits from the closet that she never wore but changed every season anyway before driving off towards the hospital.

As Camille reached out to knock on the door at the ward entrance, their conversation floated clearly through:

"Ayan," a woman said softly with insecurity lacing through each word. "Do you think I look ugly now? Will Camille laugh at me when she sees me?"
