Chapter 03

My anguished moans alarmed them. Lauren looked at me with an excited expression, realizing I was about to give birth.

My mother-in-law glanced at me and whispered to Lauren, "After all these months of tending to her, cooking her meals, and making her soups, I was so fed up I wanted to strangle her. Now that she's finally giving birth, Lauren, you must take the labor-inducing medicine quickly, or it will be too late."

Lauren nodded and told her mother, "Mom, keep an eye on her. I'm going to take the medicine now."

I was in such pain that I sweated profusely, yet I still had to listen to them plotting to steal my child.

I grabbed my mother-in-law's hand and pleaded, "I'm about to give birth. Please, take me to the hospital quickly."

She shrugged off my hand and said, "No need. I'll call Mr. Allan to come over and deliver the baby here. What if you go into labor on the way?"

With that, she took out her phone and called Mr. Allan.

Mr. Allan was the doctor whom my mother-in-law and Lauren had bribed in my past life. The three of them stole my child after I gave birth to my son.

I initially planned to have my husband wait at the hospital beforehand this time, so my mother-in-law and Lauren wouldn't have a chance to intervene. Unfortunately, they overheard me making the call and decided to have Mr. Allan come to the house instead.

My mother-in-law had taken my phone away, rendering me unable to contact Colin.

Now, it was just my mother-in-law, Lauren, and me at home. I knew they would steal my child again after I gave birth.

No matter what, I couldn't give birth at home. I had to hold on until I saw Colin.

Lauren took the labor-inducing medicine, and soon after, her water broke and the contractions started. Hearing her agonizing screams only added to my distress.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of the neighbors across from us opening their doors. With my mother-in-law and Lauren in the bedroom, this was my chance to ask for help.

I quietly opened the door and grabbed the hand of the young neighbor girl, saying, "I'm about to give birth. Please help me contact my husband and tell him that his mother wants me to give birth at home. He needs to come quickly and take me to the hospital."

The young girl hesitated at first, but seeing me drenched in sweat, she nodded and agreed to help me.

Just then, my mother-in-law suddenly pulled me back inside and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

She scolded me, "Where do you think you're going? Giving birth at the door would bring bad luck. Just wait here. Mr. Allan will be here soon."

As soon as she finished speaking, Mr. Allan knocked on the door.
