Chapter 2
Piers and I had been together since high school, dating for ten years, plus five years of marriage. He always prioritized me, warmly greeting me whenever he got home and never leaving me behind because of work. Perhaps there really was an urgent matter this time. Adjusting my mindset, I got up and changed into a regular set of pajamas. As I approached the nightstand, I inadvertently noticed that his tablet was still at home, plugged in and charging. On a whim, I unplugged it.
The password for the tablet was simple, but I seldom used it. It was mostly Piers who did. Glancing at it, I saw the screen was still on a Facebook chat page. I opened his profile and realized this must be Piers's alternate account. It contained a lot of information, some about us and some shared articles. Seeing those posts, I couldn't help but laugh.
But then, a new update from a friend on his FB main page made me pause for a few seconds. "After all the twists and turns, the person I love the most has come back to me, PB." P and B were the capital letters of Piers's full name. Soon after, someone left a comment below that post. My husband replied to the comment. "I'm glad, my love."
This was Piers's primary account. I couldn't be mistaken. I casually clicked on the small profile picture on his FB homepage. In an instant, I remembered someone. Jan, a woman who had been pursuing Piers for fourteen years.
