Chapter 2

"I know, and we are in the territory of King Alcaeus the Second," Giselle said.

She was also afraid since the one who rules this land hates the handlers with perfect hatred. Just at the mention of his name, even the handler queen trembles.

"We are doomed" the poor maid almost collapsed.

"What should we do, my princess?" the maid whispered, her voice trembling.

Giselle pressed a finger to her lips, signaling for silence. Her mind raced, recalling the tales her father told her about werewolves and their brutal nature. She knew they could not afford to be discovered.

"I—I don't know, but we can’t stay here," she murmured, her gaze darting around for an escape route.

The hybrid king named Royce Alcaeus the Second is the most dangerous being that ever existed. Not only is he brutal and callous, one who rules the werewolf kingdom, but he is also a shapeshifter, and that's why he can never be conquered. His brutality has spread from generation to generation, and even though many do not know him, they know of his ruthlessness. He never showed mercy.

"My princess, what are we going to do?," her maid cried out softly, her entire body tense and a chill running down her spine. The color drained from her face , making it look ghostly pale. Giselle was no different. It was as if they had escaped from hot oil only to be thrown directly into burning iron.

"Let's leave here quietly," Giselle said to her maid.

Suddenly, a low growl broke through the air, and Giselle felt the hair on her neck stand up.

"Did you hear that?" the maid gasped, her eyes wide with fear.

Before Giselle could respond, a dark figure emerged from the underbrush. A werewolf, colossal and muscular, with fur that shimmered like the night sky, prowled toward them, sniffing the air.

"We must run!" Giselle breathed, but as she turned to lead the way, the forest erupted in a cacophony of growls and howls.

Unfortunately, as they turned to sneak away, they saw the handlers teleport to where they were and start surveying with their eyes.

"Oh no this is bad!" Giselle exclaimed in her head.

"What are we to do, Princess?" Her maid asked, her trembling hands clutched to her racing chest.

Giselle couldn't tell the girl that she didn't know. Her heart rate was faster than the gallops of a warhorse at full speed. She didn't want to give up..

" It is better to die at the hands of a stranger than at the hands of those you call your family," Giselle replied as they ran.

She only said that to encourage the girl, even though she was dreadfully afraid.

"His Majesty's wedding can't be missed, brother," he said.

They were so afraid that the wolves would notice them, only to see that the wolves were already in a different direction. It meant that they weren't noticed as they thought. They were only growling to show how happy they were about their king's marriage.

Giselle and her maid picked up their pace and wouldn't stop running. The handlers were limited in knowing where they were.

"Stop!" One of the handlers shouted as she saw them entering the territory.

Soon, Giselle and her maid came to a clearing and realized that they had lost the handlers. The two collapsed on the floor tired and hungry but then Giselle knew that soon they would be found.

Just as she was thinking about what to do next, she saw two horses standing before them. They were tied to a tree, and on each horse lay a coat. One was a beautiful royal blue coat laced with fur, and the other was a plain black jacket. Giselle smiled and ran to the horses and her maid followed her.

"What are you doing my princess?" She asked.

" Escaping, " she replied, throwing her the black coat.

Her maid didn't argue as she helped her onto the back of the horse. She was glad that she had trained her maid how to ride a horse. She wore the blue coat, covering her hair with the hoodie, and they headed for a place they didn't even know.

"Let's use the werewolves as our refuge today and by morning, we will leave before they notice," she said to her maid who nodded.

Their plan was the best until they entered a village and saw many warriors who ran to the front of their horses and stopped them.

"Princess," the maid called.

Giselle widened her eyes, and her fears returned a thousandfold.

Giselle had been mistaken for the king's bride as they entered town, and escaping was all they could do.

"Lily," she called her maid. "Let's flee," she said.

Lily understood that she was talking about them disappearing. As that was the only thing that could save them at that moment.

"Mish...co,"

"Mish...co,"

The two chorused and waved their hands to disappear, but nothing happened. They looked at each other and tried again and the response was the same. She looked at her maid and she looked at her head and this time the warriors were already lined up in front of them. They were terrified.

"My princess, we've been waiting for you," one of the warriors said.

The two stiffened as they heard what the man who looked like a killer warrior said. Although he wasn't looking angry, his appearance was still intimidating.

"Princess....." Lily whispered agitated.

"They must have mistaken me for another," Giselle replied.

" Come let's get you to the palace, the King awaits you, " the captain said and he was ready to help Giselle down from the horse.

As Giselle got down she wanted to tell him he got the wrong person.

"Wait, please......." But the man didn't reply he just led her to the cart.

They had been waiting for the person whom they mistook for Giselle for a long time. Gisele was just so scared, she didn't know how to face the storm rushing toward her. The worst part was that the man entered the cart with her and Lily was taken to another. It was as if they knew they were planning to escape.

"You can relax my princess," the captain said calmly even though he wasn't smiling. He noticed that Giselle looked tense.
