Chapter 1
"Keep running, Giselle, you are almost there," Giselle said to herself as she grew weaker with every footstep she took.
The weeds rustled, and the sound of creaking dry wood echoed as she ran, and she couldn't help but feel tense. managed to escape the prison where she had been kept, and now she was being pursued to death. She wished she could die, but then dying would do a lot of harm , as her father had told her on his deathbed.
Although she didn't know what harm it could cause, she still held on to it.
She had been living fine until she made the stupid mistake of revealing her secret to her stepmother, and all she wanted was to take everything she had. She lied to the elders , claiming that Giselle had killed someone to gain her powers..
Her stepmother, being the handler queen , believed Giselle was going to overthrow her , so she sought to kill her.
"Mish.....ret......kibru," she chanted, but the spell didn't work.
While she was in prison, her stepmother had fed her a potion that made her powers dormant, fearing that she would escape, still she escaped.
She kept running, praying that she would reach the border soon. Her footsteps slowed and her vision became blurry , making it hard for her to see where she was heading. She almost fell to the ground but her maid held her. She would have given up but she didn't want the poor girl's sacrifice to be in vain.
Giselle felt very happy as she saw the border in front of them. She put more effort into running. Just as they were about to cross, eight people in black teleported right in front of them , causing the two to fall to the ground.
Seeing this, Giselle realized it was the handler queen and her cohorts. She quickly hid the maid behind her, as if they couldn't see her. The poor maid was so scared that her body was shaking.
"Do you really think you can run from me?" Her stepmother asked with a sinister smile on her very lean face.
Who wouldn't fear the handler queen because her eyes were always as dark as the color of a black hawk, and from her body emitted an aura of darkness.. It wouldn't be so hard to find out that she's the witch queen..
"Leave us alone!" Giselle shouted.
Her throat was sore because she had been kept in prison for days without food and just a few drops of water. She didn't have the strength to shout.
The handler queen gave a snort, but it disappeared as if it had never existed. Her golden wand laced with black ornament moved from left to right as she gave Giselle a condescending scrutiny.
"I didn't come here to argue with you, just give me the Spirit Beast," she said plainly.
Since Giselle knew that woman, a real smile had never found its way to her lips. Her angular nose and high cheekbones added to the air of her wickedness, not to mention her dark, feathered, long gown. She was always afraid of the handler queen, and until now, she didn't know why she kept her alive after her father died. Giselle had always wondered how her father, who had a good heart, fell in love with this devil.
"It's mine and I won't give it to anyone," Giselle shouted.
Taking her spirit beast was like leaving her half-dead and she wasn't ready to die.
"Do not kid me, girl," the handler queen said in a very dangerous voice.
Her expression shifted from mockery to deadly satisfaction as she looked at Giselle and her maid who was trembling. Giselle realized that her powers were returning but she still pretended to be weak.
"I won't give you what you want" she breathed out.
" Then you leave me no choice, girl," the handler queen said with a gruesome voice.
Her eyebrows twisted and the color of her eyes became pitch black like that of an unending pit. Her nails grew longer as her lips moved, and then her wand was directed at Giselle.
Giselle couldn't hear what the handler queen was chanting, but she could feel the wave beneath her feet. She and her maid grabbed each other tightly. Giselle could feel the magic engulfing her and her spirit beasts struggling not to come out. Giselle knew she must do something quickly.
The handler queen, seeing Giselle choking, gave a sinister smirk, knowing she was succeeding.
"Ba......ki.....bash," Giselle shouted with all her strength, and before those standing could know what was going on, Giselle and her maid disappeared in the blue flame..
It was a shock to the handler queen that it took her a few seconds to realize that Giselle had already escaped.
"No!" She roared, with her knuckles folded into a tight fist. As if the color of her eyes could get any darker. Her roar scared the forest and even the animals took refuge.
"Find me that thing! You must not return until she's right in front of me!" She ordered, her body trembling with anger.
"Yes my Queen" they chorused and disappeared.
By the time Giselle and her maid landed, they had arrived in the forest of a very strange land.
"Are you alright my princess?" her maid asked with concern.
Giselle managed to nod as she held her chest tightly, coughing slightly.
The two looked around them and saw that it was a strange place. Giselle had never left her kingdom, so she didn't recognize the area.
"We escaped, my princess," the maid said with a big smile, still looking around. All that mattered to the poor maid was that they had crossed their border.
Giselle knew it wasn't time to be happy. She wanted to make sure that they were indeed safe. As they looked around, they heard footsteps and voices. Giselle dragged her maid behind a tree.
"I can't believe that King Royce Alcaeus the Second is finally getting married, after decades of persuading him"
" Likewise I. He had stayed hundreds of years without a bride. "
" He must be thrilled. "
The second chuckled. " Thrilled, my foot. The council won this time. I just pitied the poor bride given to him. "
As they spoke, the two hiding looked at each other as if they had seen a ghost. They went pale immediately
"They are werewolves, my princess" Giselle's maid whispered with a horrified look.
Giselle’s heart raced as they crouched in their hiding spot. The voices continued to echo through the trees, a reminder of how perilous their situation was.
