Chapter 3

Giselle gave him a stiff smile. She couldn't help but be tense. Her powers wouldn't work, and she wasn't familiar with this place to know how to draw an escape plan. She was so scared that if they found out she wasn't the one whom they were looking for. She didn't know that she had dozed off until rays of light seeped into her eyes. She slowly opened her eyes wondering where she was. She realized that they were still in the cart and right in front of her was the most beautiful building she would ever see.

She had always thought that the handler's palace was beautiful, but compared to this, it was nothing. The building was almost biting into the clouds, it perched as a majestic sentinel, and there stood the dazzling castle. It was as if the builder had used light itself to construct the castle. Its beauty was quite magnificent.

But then she wondered how the land could be so bright. The hybrid king was also a vampire, and light was one of vampires' weaknesses, and she was sure that she wasn't mistaken.

As they approached the massive gate of the castle, which was adorned with undiluted gold and a grand coat of arms on display, Giselle could recognize the large image on it as the hybrid king... Even the Handler Castle wasn't as bright as this.

"Are you sure this is the palace of King Alcaeus?" She couldn't help but ask.

The general who had taken it upon himself to stay with her looked at her.

"Don't worry princess, you are in the right place," he replied.

If he had known how scared the female beside him was, he wouldn't have talked. She didn't know what weapon to use to escape, knowing it would be so difficult to do so. Upon arriving, she saw that many people were already waiting for them. This made her wonder who the person they had mistaken her for was. She looked at Lily, who was as white as a ghost because she was so scared to be among brutal creatures.

Walking into a room, everywhere was as silent as an empty barrel. A man was backing them, there was no crown on his head so it was hard to know who he was but his aura was so cold that it sent chills to Giselle's body. She wondered who the person was. Just then, he turned, and Giselle held her breath, taken aback at the appearance of the man. He was definitely the most handsome man she had ever seen.

Giselle shook her head in disbelief because it felt like she was going to faint. His features made him rival a Greek god. The color of his eyes was that of a very deep blue sea, and it was as if they were going to drown her as they met hers. She couldn't help but notice that the black regalia on him spoke of everything majestic. He was the true definition of breathtaking.

"Who the hell is this dangerously handsome man!" Giselle felt like screaming.

"Do you think I have the luxury of time to wait for you, woman?" His thick powerful voice made the room tense but instead of Giselle trembling like others, she was actually swooning at the beauty of the one standing before her. She stretched her hands forward dreamily as she saw the spotlight surround the man, giving her the wildest imagination. White glowing butterflies were flying around him.

The handsome man took a deliberate step closer, and Giselle's heart raced as she struggled to maintain her composure.

"What are you doing my princess?" Lily whispered to her.

Giselle jumped, and everything she thought she saw disappeared. She looked at Lily with a stiff smile. She felt so embarrassed and put her hands behind her back. Who is that man?

"Where are your people?" He continued, his voice a commanding whisper that sent shivers down her spine. Instead of fear, a strange excitement drummed through her. Who was this man who exuded such power and allure?

She wasn't the only one checking out the man but he also was looking at her with well hidden interest. Although he was told that the one who is coming is beautiful, his expectations weren't very high. He didn't expect her to be such a rare beauty. Just by shaking her head slowly, he felt as if she were drawing him closer. He didn't like this feeling, but he couldn't help it.

Yet, in all this, he felt something was strange about his bride to be.

"Huh,...... I think......" Giselle said not knowing what to say.

"Forget it," he said and walked away.

He literally ran away from her because he didn't know if he would be able to control himself anymore. That woman's blood smelled so nice that he felt like taking a bite.

Well, he's a half vampire, so he knew how her blood smelled. Although he does know the smell of blood, none have smelled that sweet.

"Take her to her room. "The ceremony starts by dawn," the man said and started to leave.

Giselle's brain didn't catch his words at first but later she did.

"No, you took the....."She started to run after him, but she was stopped by another fierce-looking man.

"You don't need to worry princess, it's fine," the man said and before she knew it she was been dragged away and taken to a well decorated room.

Even though the room was so nice and she hadn't seen its kind before, she was angry about the way they didn't give her the chance to explain herself. She didn't know how long her powers would be dormant for them to know that they were handlers. As she was still thinking, some maids , who were nicely dressed in black and white gowns, filed in front of her, and a man came and bowed to her.

"My princess, I'm Hort and I'm the butler of this esteemed palace. I'm at your service" he said, still bowing.

Giselle's troubles were piling up, and it became more difficult to escape.

"I'm not actually......." She started to explain, but as usual, he interrupted her.

"Princess, why don't we get you rested? His Majesty would have my head if I keep you waiting," he said.

He looked at the maid and soon they dragged her deeper into a large room. The room was fit for a queen, but her......

The man shook his bald head. "No my princess, you need to get rested. You might be a nightwalker, but you've been on a journey for days. Your need for rest is paramount so as not to look like someone who was beaten up, " the butler said.

"Wedding? What wedding? ' she asked agitatedly.

" Your wedding to King Royce Alcaeus the Second," the man said with so much pride.

" Oh no! " Giselle screamed in her head.

She looked at Lily and she had the same expression. She had been mistaken for the king's bride. She regretted that they had taken the horses. They must ensure not to see Royce. If they do, they will be dead.

The maids led her into the bathroom. She kept trying to talk to the man but he left. The hot bath she was given was so relaxing and tempting that she almost forgot all her troubles.

After the bath, she was clad in fluffy nightwear that hugged her body perfectly. Then, a meal fit for a king was placed in front of her and her maid. She gulped it down happily. In her entire life, she didn't remember eating such good food. She wondered how the werewolves could prepare a tasty meal.

"Our King is not that bad. "He might look intimidating, but he's kind," one of the maids said. She must have noticed that Giselle didn't want to marry the king.

"It's because you don't know that I'm a handler," Giselle said in her head.

She couldn't just tell a maid about her troubles, and the butler didn't return until they lay down to sleep. He had begged one of the maids to let Lily stay with her.

Giselle pretended to be asleep so that the butler would let her be. When he left, Giselle and her maid sprang into action.

"We are trapped, Princess," Lily said when everyone had left.

She wasn't as scared as when she walked in. She didn't know that they would be nice to a lowly maid like her, but she also understood that things would change if they found out who she really was...

They looked for ways to escape, and they concluded that they would go through the window.

Lily ran to the drawer and brought out all the bedspreads and they tied them together.

"Let's wait until everyone retires to their rooms, and then we will leave," Giselle said, even though she wasn't sure how she was going to escape, but she still wanted to try.to try..

"Yes my princess," Lily said and they both lay down to wait for the perfect escape time.
