Chapter 13: As Expected!

On Monday morning, Jamie pulled up to the Atkinson Group's entrance in his BMW X6. In his hand was an exquisite gift box containing a bottle of wine he had acquired for several hundred thousand dollars. While not exorbitantly priced, it was a rare find that money alone couldn't easily buy. Jamie felt this would adequately demonstrate his sincerity.

After parking, he strode directly towards the the Atkinson Group building. Just as he reached the entrance, two security guards stopped him.

He looked at the ordinary-looking guards and asked, "What are you doing?"

"What's your business here?" one of the guards asked Jamie suspiciously.

Jamie straightened his suit, looking disdainfully at the two lowly guards. He said dismissively, "I'm Jamie, young master of the Adams family and its future head. I'm here to sign a contract with Mr. Robinson."

As he spoke, he tried to walk in, not even bothering to give the two security guards a second glance.

But no sooner had he finished speaking than the two men blocked his path. They looked Jamie up and down and said, "Wait here. I'll go ask Mr. Robinson. No one gets in without Mr. Robinson's permission."

"Wait!" Jamie called out to the guard. He then handed over the wine, saying, "This is a gift for Mr. Robinson. Please give it to him as well."

The guard took the wine and went inside.

"Damn it!" Jamie couldn't help but curse. "Just you wait. You'll both be apologizing to me soon enough."

The contract was already a done deal, as everyone knew. He couldn't believe these watchdogs didn't know that. Being stopped at the door like this - damn! He couldn't help but grin inwardly at the thought of Mr. Robinson coming out to teach these fools a lesson for failing to recognize his importance.

Thinking of happier things, he couldn't help but smirk at the memory of Georgia being kicked out of the family. Today was doubly joyous for him - not only had he gotten rid of that thorn in his side, Georgia, but he was also about to join the Adams family's management. Most importantly, once he signed this contract, the Adams family would be elevated to a first-tier family, all thanks to him. It was truly a cause for celebration.

Five minutes later, the guard came back out. Jamie snorted and asked, "Well? Did Mr. Robinson say to let me in?"

The guard shook his head slightly, then approached Jamie. Seeing this, Jamie waved his hand and said, "No need to apologize. Just wait until I come out and see how Mr. Robinson deals with you."

As he spoke, he raised his hand to pat the guard's clothes, but the guard pushed him to the ground and punched him. The punch caught Jamie off guard, sending him sprawling and rolling on the ground.

"Fuck!" Jamie cursed again, shouting at the guard, "What the hell? You dare hit me? You're just a watchdog! Do you know who I am?"

The guard nodded and said, "Of course I know. This is on Mr. Robinson's orders. If you have any issues, take it up with him. He said to take your things and get lost. If you're still here in five minutes, you'll get another punch."

With that, the guard threw the wine bottle at Jamie's feet and spat, "Oh, and when you go back, tell Old Mrs. Adams that this contract isn't for the Adams family - it's for Miss Georgia. Anyone from the Adams family who comes to sign the contract, except Miss Georgia, will get the same treatment. Now scram!"

Jamie was petrified. He stared at the guard, dumbfounded, and stammered, "W-what did you say?"

"Are you deaf? You're not qualified to sign the contract! Get lost before I have to hit you again." Jamie swallowed hard. He couldn't disbelieve it now - not with a fist to the face as proof.

---

Back home, he reported the incident truthfully to Old Mrs. Adams.

After hearing the story, Old Mrs. Adams flew into a rage. She slapped her palm and exclaimed, "What? They have such a rule?"

"Grandma, you must stand up for me. They even hit me! They said anyone from the Adams family who goes to sign the contract will be kicked out - even you wouldn't be allowed," Jamie whined, on the verge of tears.

Old Mrs. Adams' face darkened as she muttered to herself, "What is this Mr. Robinson playing at?"

"Grandma, it must be Georgia's doing. How else could Mr. Robinson insist on her signing the contract? I've got it - she must have used her looks to her advantage after being kicked out the other day and secretly met with Mr. Robinson. The contract was originally a done deal - anyone from our family could have signed it. How could it suddenly change to only Georgia being allowed to sign?"

"Silence!" Old Mrs. Adams knew very well what this contract meant for the Adams family. It meant an instant promotion to a first-tier family in Hiphia. Collaborating with the Atkinson Group was an incredible opportunity.

After a few moments of contemplation, she told Jamie, "Go find Georgia immediately. Tell her to come sign this contract."

"Grandma, you're not really going to let Georgia sign, are you? You promised me I could do it," Jamie protested, his face full of resentment.

"Can you make it then?" Old Mrs. Adams asked sternly.

Jamie touched his still-aching cheek. He indeed couldn't sign the contract.

"I don't care what method you use. Apologize, beg on your knees if you have to, but make sure Georgia signs that contract," Old Mrs. Adams ordered Jamie harshly.

Georgia returned home, her body weary. Kayden had just finished preparing dinner. Today, Georgia had gone out job hunting. She hadn't found anything suitable - many places were interested in her, but the salaries weren't ideal.

Seeing Georgia's tired and dejected face, Kayden said, "Dinner's ready. If Jamie comes later asking you to sign the contract, don't agree. Wait until I tell you to sign before you do it. Don't fall for his tricks so easily."

"I have some business to attend to. I'll be out for a bit," he added.

With that, Kayden left without looking back.

Georgia hadn't even processed Kayden's words before he was out the door.

She couldn't understand why Kayden would say such a thing. What made him think Jamie would come looking for her?

Georgia couldn't figure it out, but the smell of food reminded her how hungry she was. So she sat down at the table to eat alone. Kayden had been like this for the past few days - preparing meals for Georgia but never eating with her.

Halfway through her meal, there was a sudden knock at the door.

"Who is it?" Georgia called out.

Jamie's voice came from outside. "It's me, Jamie. Open up!"
