Chapter 12: Heartache!

Kayden didn't return home until nightfall. Having just regained his memories, he needed to recuperate. He had found a quiet place to heal his body, using the forces of nature to restore his innate abilities.

Overall, the results were quite good. He had recovered about 15% of his power. The internal injury he had suffered had been circulating in his body for three years, and it was impossible to expel it completely in such a short time.

As soon as he entered the house, he heard his mother-in-law Scarlett's angry voice. She was still ranting about how Kayden had led Georgia out of the meeting room that afternoon, and how furious Old Mrs. Adams had been.

Upon seeing Kayden, Scarlett immediately turned her wrath on him.

"So you finally decided to come back? I thought you'd run away for good. Why can't you be like other people and just leave? If you had, would my family be in this mess?" Scarlett berated Kayden fiercely.

"You idiot! It's bad enough that you can't do anything right, but now you're dragging Georgia down with you. I suggest you take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself if you're worthy of her."

Georgia sat on the sofa, her round eyes fixed on Kayden, saying nothing. Leah, on the other hand, was nonchalantly eating an apple. She looked up at Kayden and said, "Hey, dummy, where did you buy the food today? It was delicious. Can you take me there tomorrow?"

"Don't change the subject!" Scarlett glared at Leah, who stuck out her tongue and continued munching on her apple.

Kayden's gaze settled on Georgia, and he repeated the same words from the night before, "I'm tired. I'm going to bed."

With that, Kayden walked into the bedroom. Scarlett, feeling her authority challenged, stood up to continue berating him. But Leah quickly intervened, saying, "Mom, stop yelling for a moment. I'll go talk to him."

Leah then limped into Georgia's room on her swollen foot.

"Hey, dummy," Leah called out to Kayden, who had just sat down on the floor.

Hearing her, Kayden looked up, slightly puzzled. "I cooked the food myself. I didn't buy it."

Leah sat down next to Kayden and said, "That's not why I'm here. I wanted to ask you something. Have you... remembered anything?"

Kayden pondered for a few seconds, then nodded. "I suppose so. Is there a problem?"

Leah licked her lips, her eyes darting around before she leaned in closer to Kayden. She smelled of soap and shampoo - a pleasant scent that Kayden noticed without any particular interest.

She whispered, "So, do you remember those things I used to make you do for me?"

"What things?" Kayden asked, genuinely confused.

Leah hesitated, embarrassed. "You know... those... those..."

She stumbled over her words, unable to finish. Kayden asked, "You mean eating ice cream off your thighs, massaging your legs, and giving you baths?"

At these words, Leah's face turned bright red. This had been weighing on her mind ever since she learned Kayden had regained his memories. She didn't know what kind of person he really was - if he used this information to blackmail her, it would be disastrous.

She hurriedly said, "You absolutely can't tell anyone about this. If my sister finds out, she'll kill me. Don't worry, as long as you keep quiet, I'll be on your side. I'll oppose my mom and won't force you to divorce my sister."

Kayden looked at this interesting woman and couldn't help but add, "Don't worry. Just don't ask me to do those things again."

Leah quickly covered her ample chest and exclaimed, "In your dreams! I only had you do those things before because you were an idiot and there was no one else around. Now, don't even think about it."

Just then, the door creaked open, and Georgia walked in.

Leah sprang to her feet, calling out, "Georgia!"

Georgia looked at Leah, then at Kayden, clearly puzzled.

Leah said, "Well, you two get some rest. I'm off to bed."

She left, leaving Georgia and Kayden alone. The man before her seemed like a stranger, making Georgia feel uneasy.

After a few seconds of eye contact, Georgia asked, "What was Leah talking to you about?"

"Nothing important," Kayden replied casually, then added, "Actually, I think your mother is right."

"What?" Georgia asked, confused.

Kayden said, "If you meet a man who's worthy of you and want a divorce, you can have one anytime."

Kayden belonged to the battlefield, his blood long since chilled by the ghosts of war. He didn't understand love; he only knew that Georgia had been genuinely good to him, and he would repay her kindness. He had thought about this for days before speaking, worried that his old enemies might try to get to him through Georgia.

He didn't want anyone to find his weakness.

Suddenly, Georgia stepped in front of Kayden and struck him hard in the chest. The blow rang out sharply, leaving Kayden bewildered.

When he looked back at Georgia, her eyes were red, as if she were about to cry.

"Do you have any idea how much ridicule I've endured because of you? Now that you've regained your memory, is this how you treat me? Fine, if you want a divorce, if you want people to keep laughing at me, then let's get divorced!" Georgia said, her voice filled with despair. She was fighting back tears, but her eyes were full of resentment.

Kayden felt a sharp pang in his heart. Indeed, this woman had borne too much mockery because of him. People had laughed at her for marrying an idiot, and now her family was pressuring her to divorce. Now even the "idiot" wanted to abandon her - it was the cruelest blow. Kayden realized he had been thoughtless, neglecting Georgia's feelings.

"I'm sorry," Kayden murmured these three words.

He was a war god, and pride was his natural demeanor. He had never apologized to anyone before, because he had never wronged anyone, including his country. But saying those words now, he truly felt he had wronged Georgia.

Georgia didn't respond. She simply sat down on the bed silently. Kayden didn't know that Georgia was crying.

For three years, Georgia had endured so much gossip and slander. The most heartbreaking thing was that now even this "idiot" wanted to divorce her.

She felt a heartache.

Hearing Kayden's words, Georgia felt a chill in her heart.
