"Grandpa!" Jamie yelled as she walked into the backyard.
"You are here" an old man came into view as he stood up. At the backyard were several eggplants. The old man had a watering can in his hand and one look at the eggplants, Jamie knew he just finished watering them.
"Tsk, tsk, Grandma did say you spend a lot of time with your eggplants" Jamie said as she interlocked her arm with her grandpa's.
"Your grandma is jealous of eggplants" The old man said and Jamie burst into laughter.
"I think its cool though" Jamie said as the old man glared at her and allowed her to pull him inside the house.
"Pancakes are ready" her grandma said as she placed plates of pancakes on the table. She walked into the kitchen before coming out with a tray filled with cups of milk before placing it beside each plate.
Jamie sat down and crossed her legs as she bit into her pancake. She ate and took sips of milk occasionally. She liked staying with her grandparents. Old fashioned but cool and understanding.
Her dad had lost his mom while he was young and he lost his dad when she was little. Although she was little; she could still remember a few things about her paternal grandfather. He liked ice cream.
How could an old man like ice cream?
He liked ice cream and craved for it like a child. Jamie remembered her mom saying ice cream was the last thing he took before he died few minutes later. They never forgot to take ice cream along on his anniversaries.
Her maternal grandparents were still healthy and strong. They were really nice and Jamie enjoyed staying with them a lot.
She packed her plates and dropped it in the kitchen sink as she turned to her grandfather.
"You still have paint huh?" She asked as the older man pursed his lips.
"What are you graffiting this time around?" He asked as the old woman turned to her.
"Someone. A beautiful stranger" Jamie replied as she grabbed her spray cans from her bag and walked outside the house. She walked towards the bare side of the house as she grabbed one of her spray cans.
Shaking it with a small smile, she started graffiting an outline. Jamie had a bad habit, an habit of graffiting wherever she went. She had landed in trouble a lot of times due to it but many a time she couldn't hold herself back.
Her grandparents house was built facing the West so the East side was blank. She had grafted there a lot of times while the old man would repaint it later. Of course, her mom had stacked them with a store full of buckets of paints.
The outline she was drawing was taking shape slowly. The slim body was already obvious as Jamie bobbed her head to the music playing in her music.
Two things Jamie thought she couldn't live without, music and graffiti. They had already become part of her.
Stepping backwards from the completed graffiti; Jamie admired the hotter version of the beautiful stranger she had seen the day before. She didn't know why but she wanted to see him again. She had seen a lot of handsome, sexy, cute guys before but she didn't know why this particular guy just caught her interest.
Unable to get him off her mind, Jamie didn't know what to do. She watched as her grandmother raised an eyebrow at the graffiti.
"What's his name?" She asked as Jamie laughed.
"I don't know. I don't know his name" Jamie replied as her grandmother turned to her and turned back to walk back inside the house.
Jamie burst into laughter as her laughter sounded like melody to the old woman's ears and she laughed as Jamie grabbed her arms and interlocked them before they walked inside the house together.
"You are starting final year in a few days ehn?" Her grandfather said and Jamie nodded as she scrolled through her phone.
Lily had released another set of pictures and the likes and comments were just increasing and increasing. As an ambassador to a popular brand she had over ten million followers on Instagram.
She was quite popular since she was very friendly and nice. It wasn't a really big surprise to her that her name came second on the list of most popular teens the last month.
She was a natural influence. That was her talent, her ability. Jamie reduced the volume of her music seeing her grandfather lips moving again.
"How's your college or univeristy preparations going?" He asked and Jamie shrugged.
"Fine" she replied.
"Don't tell me you are going to some other continent like your brothers?" Her grandmother asked and Jamie laughed.
"Is that your way of saying that you are going to miss me when I go to college?" Jamie asked as her grandmother snickered making her laugh again.
"Don't worry. I'm schooling here. I'm going nowhere. I'll accompany you two" Jamie said with a light laugh.
"Accompany me till when?" Her grandmother asked and Jamie shrugged.
"I'll accompany you even when you are six feet under but its gonna take a while but for the mean time" Jamie replied as her grandmother smiled and pinched her cheeks.
"Don't say nonsense" she said as Jamie frowned feigning annoyance.
"Nonsense? What do you mean by nonsense?" Jamie asked with mock seriousness all over her face.
"I'll smack you right across the face" her grandmother said and Jamie burst into laughter again as the old woman smiled.
It was obvious not just Jamie liked staying with her grandparents. The old parents also liked having this particular granddaughter over. She was nice and beaugifuland had a way of lifting their moods exponentially.
Just like that, Jamie couldn't count how many times she had laughed in the barely four hours she had spent in her grandparents house; something she found hard to do expect when she was with her friends. They just gave her joy, naturally.
Her smile widened again as she stared at them.
