Chapter 4 breath Kai

Chapter 4.

Subtitle: breath Kai

Jared had just moved back home after leaving for about a decade.

What brought him back home? It was an urgent pack issue which he needed to deal with since his mother could no longer act as the Alpha for long.

He needed to be there for his community which had managed to grow stronger even with his absence.

He had just picked up a new sports car and was heading back towards home.

The rain fell hard on the windscreen so he had to drive at a slow pace just in case, even though he hated it.

As he drove through the somehow busy- quiet street leading to the suburbs lights from other cars shone as he drove.

Although it was raining and everywhere was damp he still picked up the scent he's not forgotten even after years.

The sweet scent of vanilla mixed up with lavender, coupled with the spiky scent of the mud it was a little bit muffled but he could still smell it.

Where was she?

He stared through his rear view mirror and noticed the fact that he's just passed by a lady standing at the bus stop with an umbrella over her head.

Was it her?

Swiftly he drove towards the little packing spot ahead of him and packed by it.

He flung the car door open at once and stepped out, he was too excited to finally meet her again after all these years.

He raced towards the bus stop but he was too late. The same lady with the lovely scent had just stepped into the bus that was now moving.

He reached out with his hands as if she could see him as the bus raced past him in a swift manner.

He sighed and made to walk back to his car but then remembered she had dropped something while stepping into the bus.

His eyes darted to the floor at once. She had dropped a small sling bag.

A sly smile creeped up at the end of his lips as he picked up the sling bag from the floor and headed back to his car. The bag had her scent filtered all over it and some of the sweet vanilla plus lavender scent still lingered around the area even though the rain was still drizzling.

Taking in a deep breath of the scent to refresh his memory he left the bus stop and headed back to his sports car that was packed just a few walks away from where he had headed.

As the mighty sports beast rolled past the moving bus he tried looking into it with his great eye sight to see if he could catch a glimpse of her but it was pointless.

The glass windows were locking him away from his vanilla scented lady, plus there were similar looking ladies with black hair in the bus.

"I'll get you some other time, little one."

It was a promise he muttered to himself as he speed past the lazy bus and headed home.

The heavy scent of blood hit Kylynn as soon as she entered the house and it made her so dizzy she had to pause and hold onto the frame for support.

It made her dizzy and weak and just like that she felt her stomach churn with immense hunger, as if she hadn't filled herself up with a lot of pasta before leaving the house early on.

The hunger was a typical reaction she has everytime she smells blood. This has made her dread the sight and smell of blood since she was a child.

She quietly used her sleeves to cover her nose before advancing further into the house.

She realised where the smell was coming from because Gianna was seated on the couch with Miami beside her.

Miami was trying to clean up the bloody fingers of her mother.

"Sorry Kai... I kind of hurt myself while trying to trim the flowers. I'll clean up quickly so you don't have to smell it."

Gianna apologised to Kylynn who just nodded and ran up the stairs in a jiffy to avoid smelling it any further.

As soon as she got into the room the first thing she did was rush into the bathroom and wash up, the hunger vanished as soon as she was all clean.

Afterwards she jumped on her bed ready to go to sleep early without having dinner when the realisation hit her that she didn't come into the house with her phone. Infact her sling bag was not with her when she came in.

"Kai you useless girl! Just where did you drop off your belongings?"

She muttered as she sat back up on her bed, trying to think of where she could have dropped the bag.

She could remember clearly that she left the catering Academy with her bag and phone tugged into it, then somewhere along the line she had to hold up her umbrella to shield herself from the rain so her bag must have dropped off at that point.

She groaned tiredly as she left the bed with only a large hoodie and a jean short on. Walking down the stairs was the only fun thing about stairs. The stairs in her house in particular were wooden and made funny squishy and jumpy sounds when someone walked on it, it's just a fun reminder that the stairs are old and need to rest.

But who cares.

"Miami, can I use your phone for a minute or two? Looks like I've lost mine while coming back home."

Kylynn called as she walked into the sitting room. Miami was seated on the couch with her laptop in front of her and a huge blanket covering her body.

The stench of blood was gone and was replaced with a nice and faint scent of citrus. Gianna must have sprayed it in the room when Kylynn was upstairs.

"Here it is. I've unlocked it for you "

Maimi handed Kylynn her phone and went back to watching her movie. She munched on a bowl of cereal in a loud way.

"Thanks.. you're a darling."

The lather stalked towards the stairs and quietly sat on the second one while she dialed her line on Miami's phone.

The phone rang for a long time with no one picking it up and eventually disconnected.

"Oh come on! Are you trying to tell me no one picked up my bag yet?"

She murmured in annoyance.

She re-dialed her line for the second time and thankfully someone picked it up.

"Hello."

She called, a little nervous.

For a few seconds no one said anything.

"Hello.."

A husky male voice finally replied, easing down Kylynn's fast beating heart.

"Hello please, who is this? I'm the owner of the line you're using and I dropped my phone earlier on, would you mind returning it to me along with my belongings? I'd be very grateful."

She said,

"It's alright. It's late now and I won't be able to bring your phone to you but text me your address so I can bring it back to you. Also text the time you'll be available. I won't appreciate a vain trip."

The person on the other line replied.

Kylynn thanked the strange man profusely and finally ended the call.

"Thank goodness!"

She didn't hesitate to text her address to the man, not minding the dangers she might bring to herself by revealing her location to a strange man. Trust me she just wanted her phone and bag back at that moment and didn't even think of the dangers.

It was when she was up in bed that she began to think if it was a foolish choice to text the strange man her address.

His voice sounded husky and a little bit scary. What if.... Just what if he's someone bad?

It took a lot of motivation for her to brush off the thoughts of it and finally go to sleep.

"Kai there's a text for you from your own number.... It's strange, but it says I'm at the address you sent, come get your phone."

Maimi yelled at the top of her lungs so Kylynn could hear her.

She quietly walked towards the window and peaked out and to her shock a gorgeous sports car was packed just outside their short gate.

Kylynn's clumping feet were what she heard when she walked back to the living room.

It was already eight o'clock and Kylynn was all dressed up for her morning class.

"Tell mom I won't be back till dusk."

Was all she said to Miami before running out of the house.

As she walked out of the short little gate that covered their small house she came face to face with an incredibly nice looking sports car. It was gray in colour and looked brand new.

She just hoped it was not Javier who picked up her bag from the floor.

She stalled her feet and walked at a slow pace while the car door opened revealing a drop dead gorgeous guy as he stepped out of the car.

Kylynn dimmed her eyes in surprise at how enticing his aura seemed.

Jared, clad in a simple black jean and a white hoodie with his feets covered in white sneakers looked drop dead gorgeous.

His red curly hair was cut short and it scattered here and there on his head in a cute way, indicating that it hasn't received good care for a while.

His face also looked a bit messy from the stubbles that were growing unharmed on his jaw, it made him look outspokenly hot.

Kylynn couldn't take her eyes off him.

That height!

That curly red hair....

It looked awfully familiar.
