Chapter 1 Kylynn Lionel

Chapter 1

Subtitle: Kylynn Lionel

Staring out of the car window was a usual thing an eight year old Kylynn would do.

Usually she gets to ride with her parents in their old wagon to pick up her older brother from highschool.

It was already evening as the old rusty car sped steadily across the busy streets just across the busy gate of the school Flynn attends.

As her father crossed the busy road after making sure his course was somehow clear the little girl was too kind of the outside world much more than she was of what was going on inside the car.

Her parents, however frantic, were yet on another phase of their usual dubious arguments, not minding if there is an eight year old in the car with them, listening to their conversation.

As her father packed at an empty spot in front of the public school she could clearly hear her mother yelling at the top of her lungs, trying to get her father to agree with her on something.

"No shut up George! Are you going to keep denying the fact that you've been railing that b*tch?"

Her voice was loud and deep, and it somewhat creeps Kylynn out to the fact that her parents would never stop fighting over something baseless.

Who was the b*tch her mother was talking about?

Whoever she was it must be really nice for her to visibly control her parents like morons and make them fight each other constantly.

"Ack Nancy stop being so delusional will you? Your jealousy is really getting on my nerves if you don't know yet!

I talk to my colleague for a minute or two and you start accusing me of having an affair? This is freaking me out!"

He snapped back at her.

Kylynn was tired of their rantings and constant arguments so without them noticing she quietly opened the door to the old car and quietly slipped out of the car unnoticed. Her parents were too busy fighting each other, each of them wanting to dominate the other with his voice.

Without the two adults noticing the child had already opened the car door and stole out of the car as quietly as possible.

Walking across the open road was a clear free Kylynn who clutched tightly to the little wooden figurine she had in her palm. The speedy honking or the incoming sports car came unnoticed to the little girl, the driver was fortunate to quickly avert sharply to the side nearly avoiding the little girl from getting run down by the poach car.

The car screamed and screeched to a halt just a few meters away from her and the little girl jumped in fright falling on her arse.

She was frightened and clutched nervously to her little figurine as tears slipped out of her large blue eyes, passerbys where begin to notice the little girl seated on the floor and the car parked just a few meters from her.

The door to the sports car flung open and out came a neatly dressed woman with long slender legs.

The little girl curled up in a ball as she watched the woman walk towards her in a haste, just seconds after the woman left the car the second door flung open and a boy came out. He looked similar to the woman because of his wild height.

" Goodness lad, are you okay?"

The woman asked and gently bent over to scoop the little girl from the floor.

The little girl was stubborn and sat quietly in her place, refusing to leave the floor.

The tall boy has now closed up to the two.

"Is she an okay mother?"

The tall boy asked.

"She won't talk. Poor wee thing most be frightened,"

"Wherever are you parents, kid?"

The woman looked worried, she helped Kylynn wipe the tears off her cheeks and tried to help her up from the floor, she was still stubborn and would not move.

"Let me.."

The tall boy told his mother.

He quietly bent towards the little girl and reached out to her with his hands spread out.

Kylynn knew she was a little bit small for an eight year old, she did not complain though.

The little girl looked puzzled, the boy was adamant as he let out a fierce smile that looked funny... So funny that Kylynn couldn't resist laughing gracefully at how cute and funny the boy looked while faking a smile. She noticed his curly red hair that packed in a messy ponytail just behind his hint. The hair was not so long so some of it let loose and fell freely over his face covering his dark brown eyes from view... Not unless he flips the hair aside at intervals to have a clear view.

He looked tall and well built, just about the same age as her elder brother Flynn... Was he a classmate to her brother?

The little girl wondered... However she found him sort of cute.

"You look funny."

The little girl said as she placed her hands on his palm and allowed him to draw her up from the floor with ease.

The boy smiled at her this time around, it was genuine.

"Good girl... Are you hurt?"

He asked.

"I'm fine.."

She whispered... But he could hear her and she needed not to repeat what she just said.

"Good."

The mother was puzzled... Since when was her son so good with kids? It was new.

She watched with awe as he walked up to her and gently removed the little figure hair clip that was attached to her hair.

"What're...."

She watched as he walked back to the girl and gently attached it to the little girl's hair.

She giggled and touched the clip on her hair.

" Kai... You little brat, why did you leave the car?"

Her mother's chilly voice swelled through her ears as soon as she made to thank the tall boy for the little gift.

"I... I went out to get Flynn's mother.... It was too loud in the car."

The eight year old replied sincerely, her mother looked worried as she saw the little crowd gathered around her daughter.

"You shouldn't let the little one wander around on her own like this. We nearly ran her down.

Hopefully she is okay."

The woman said to the girl's mother.

Nancy was not pleased.

"Kai is not little... She knows how to cross the road pretty fine, she is just stubborn at times."

The mother replied.

Nancy and the woman do not seem to like each other and the two exchanged a few more tussled words before the tall red haired woman whisked away her cute tall son after apologizing to Kylynn and Nancy earnestly.

They drove away in their sleek sports car.

"Go sit in the car with your father!"

The mother was upset and she was stern as she spoke to her daughter.

Kylynn understood she was in deep trouble walking back was best for her.

As she sat in the car her father didn't even look at her, annoyance was the first thing she noticed in his face and it seems he was just too embarrassed to stare at her.

It didn't take long before Nancy returned with Flynn who had his skateboard clutched to his armpit. The two got in the car and the father hit the road.

The arguments soon resumed and Kylynn was glad it did because Nancy soon forgot the fact Kylynn that she just messed up a while ago.

Flynn was busy with his book.

Kylynn couldn't help but stare at her little hair clip, it had the figure of a magnificently carved wolf on it.

It looked gorgeous.

The next few days were hell for Kylynn at home, her mother won't stop nagging and fighting her father and when he couldn't handle it anymore he hit her.

A potential road to a divorce opened up and half a year later Kylynn watched as her mother took off, leaving her and Flynn behind.

The little girl cried and asked for her mother through sleepless nights giving her father and brother a hard time taking care of her.

Two years later her father remarried.

The woman was beautiful and kind. Kylynn warmed up to her at once.

She had been longing for a mother figure for a long time and was glad to have one.

Her brother however felt the opposite about the new mother they hard, he hated her.

He had just gotten into a decent college and when his father refused to send off his new wife at Flynn's demand he soon took off, just like his mother did.

Leaving behind his little sister to his father and new wife to take care of.

He never returned, well not until six years later when their father got really Ill and passed away.

He swung by for his father's burial and had a few words with his sister who was now a teenager, still small and little for the age of seventeen.

Flynn was older and now worked at a big tech company as a manager, Kylynn found out during the little catching up she had with her brother.

He was now tall and well built.

He now had a fiance and promised to bring her to meet his little sister sometime.

Although Kylynn was angry at her brother for abandoning her like their mother she was still grateful he was fine and still came back to see her, not like her mother who she never heard from again.
