Chapter 9

Sanaya

"Your son-in-law's parents have definitely spent a good amount of money on this wedding, I just can't take my eyes off the beautiful decoration." My mom said to Siya's mom who is going to marry today. If you guys don't know who she is then let me tell you, she is my cousin cum best friend.

"Yeah, Indeed, after all, my daughter is going into their house as a first princess. They would leave no chance to impress us." She replied with a smile.

"Siya is a very lucky girl, not everyone has been born with a golden spoon to get married to a prince. I've even heard that Karan is very handsome and he has dated many beautiful female celebrities before. And I wonder how he agreed to marry Siya without even meeting her for once." My mom spoke with a hint of excitement and disbelief in her voice.

"C'mon, Reshma, I don't think he even needs to meet her since they both were childhood friends and lovers." Siya's mom is actually too proud about her daughter getting married to a rich family's son but do they even care to ask Siya once for it? Karan can go to another woman after the marriage if he didn't get what he wants from her and no one would question him and my innocent Siya would be alone and stuck into a loveless relationship.

"I wish I could find someone like Karan for Sanaya. Her life will also get settled in a big and happy house." Mom spoke her thoughts, making me roll my eyes.

They started again!

"As much as I know, Suryavanshi family have another son maybe his name is Samrath, we haven't seen him because he stays in a low profile life, away from cameras but I heard a news that he is the one who talked to the magistrate to solve the problem of our village's electricity, besides, he's Karan's brother I am sure he would be handsome too." Siya's mom said with a proud grin.

Correction* Mr. Samrath just has talked about it like every other politician does to get votes, I will believe in him only if he does what he says.

"It means Samrath is going to be Siya's brother-in-law, so can you please talk about Sanaya's marriage with him? How nice it will look that both sisters will live in the same house, no?"

"Sure, but not everyone is down to earth like my son-in-law Karan to marry a simple girl, who knows if Samrath's choice is different and high class…" And with that, she taunted me. I swear if she wasn't my aunt I would have ripped her tongue off for saying such a thing.

"Ma! You know, I want to finish my graduation first and after that, I wanna do a job! No marriage and bullshit," I exclaimed, earning a slight slap on my shoulders.

"So? I am not stopping you from doing all these, you can continue even after you get married to your husband."

"Only if he allowed it! Otherwise, my dreams will go in vain." I retorted as she sighed.

"Calm down, Sanaya, we are just talking, don't act like we are forcing you to get married now but sooner or later, you have to do this anyway, get it from now on, whether you've to sacrifice your dreams for them or not, got it?" Siya's mom spoke to me in a rude manner which I didn't let myself get ignored but annoyance couldn't hide from my face.

"Also, I have some work to see. If you don't mind Reshma and Sanaya, please make sure to help Siya get ready on time." She added and left like she doesn't care.

It's her daughter's wedding and she got some work to see rather than seeing her daughter getting ready because, after today, she will go to her husband's home.

I shook my thoughts and smiled happily to get over my bad mood, after all, it same goes for me, I don't know when I'll get a chance to see her again.

"Let's go then." My mom said. I was on the way when I thought I saw him. That flirty devil Sunny. I tilted my head and found him staring at me like creeps with a wide smile on his face. He was in an off-white sequined Jodhpuri sherwani with a long white pearl necklace on it.

My mood is already off and this guy must be stalking me because not everyone is invited except for special people.

I am gonna kill him for this!

"Ma, you go, I will come in five minutes," I told her. She nodded and gone as I walked over in his direction.

As I came near him, I noticed his facial expressions changed into confusion, and wasting no time, I slapped him hard for stalking me. He, of course, did not expect this as he slowly lifted his face back in the same position, holding a confused, angry, and disbelieving look and I slapped him again.

"Ouch! What are these slaps for?!" He asks, rubbing his now red cheeks to ease the pain.

"For staring and stalking me, bloody stalker!" I yelled, earning a raised brow from him, including a smile.

"Well, I won't deny that I haven't stared at you since you are looking way too gorgeous for any guy to avert his eyes from you, " I almost grinned at the compliment he gave me but I still put an angry look over my face, "But stalking? No way."

"Really? Then can you care to tell me what you are doing here, that too at the same place where I am?" I questioned, narrowing my eyes at him, suspiciously.

He inhaled a breath as he put his hands on his jean's pocket, "Trust me, It's just a weird coincidence."

"I don't believe you, this wedding is only for family members of both families and I am the bride's cousin, no one else, then how did you manage to get in?"

He brushes his palm on the backside of his head thinking, "I…"

"See, you got no answer. Either you have broken in or you must be working here as a waiter after getting kicked out by your dad for wasting his money." I taunted him badly, nonetheless, I have spoken only what I felt.

He slowly nodded, confirming my doubt.

I couldn't hold my laughter, I burst out laughing as I clutched his shoulders for support because I might even fall on the ground, laughing at his condition.

"Wow, trust me, I am sad for you but I can't stop laughing, thinking the guy who used to travel in cars is now working as a whiter because his dad throws him out the house," I stated, gaining a satisfied smile on his lips which I didn't get.

"Y-Yeah, yes, totally, but my dad hasn't thrown me out, I left the house for my self-respect because we both had different thinking and unfortunately, now I have to work as a waiter at parties to pay my bills." He clarified in a seriously sad manner, however, carrying the same smile.

I shook my head, tapping his shoulders, "Nah, you don't need to make a cover story, your secret is safe with me. " I assured him, in a teasing way.

"If you say…" he trails.

"Okay, I gotta go now." I said and moved to Siya's room when I turned around and added, "And please make sure of our guests' comfort because it's not a normal wedding so take care of our reputation." I winked at him as he always does to me only making his grin wider.

This guy is confusing me! Perhaps, just to annoy me.

~~~
"You are looking so pretty now." My mom told Siya who was getting ready for her marriage.
"Maybe." She replied, nervously.
"Maybe? I am sure, your husband won't be able to take his eyes off of you." I spoke, teasingly to ease her nervousness. I knew, Siya is not ready for this and I don't understand why she even wants to do this.
"Who knows, be careful, the first night could be painful for you." My mom teased her more, preventing her naughty smile. She is making her more uncomfortable.
"You don't worry, your husband would be a nice man, who will love you so much for sure, just be happy," I said, reading her face. I wanted to know what's exactly going on in her mind but I skipped it just in an attempt to divert her brain from all these negative things.
"No, I am happy, just nervous, " She finally said.
I nodded in understanding, "I can understand, but we are with you." I gave her some confidence as she flashed me a 'Thank you' smile.
"Siya, it's time." Her mother loudly said.
I could sense the tension in the air. We left the room and walked downstairs as I helped Siya to lift her heavy lehenga so she could walk easily. Siya and her mom did a bit of chit chat as we led her to the mandap and sat her down. Her mom told me to take a seat on the chairs as she will manage everything from here.
I nodded and sat down next to mom. We rose from our seats when Siya's husband made his way to the mandap as well, he took an entry like a king.
We were enjoying the beautiful scene in front of us when I saw Sunny running in our direction to grab a seat. He was about to sit when I called him, purposely.
"Waiter!" First, he didn't respond so I had to call him multiple times. I know how to get his attention, "Don't you know, I am talking to you, Sunny waiter!" And, he froze on his spot for a moment before, slowly moving back to face me.
He flashed me a sad grin, saying, "Please, don't call me with that name again especially here." He begged for God knows why.
"Okay, I wouldn't have planned this but you haven't heard me in the first place!" I retorted.
He rolled his eyes, "I am not used to it and can you tell me what work you have with me?" He questions.
I gave him an innocent smile, ordering, "Can you get me a glass of juice?"
I swear, I saw the anger rise in his eyes which he controlled somehow, and nodded to me, annoyingly. I wanted to laugh at his face but I didn't only because I got a vibe that there's something he doesn't want me to know.
