Chapter 8
Sunny
I sat down at the table, waiting for breakfast to be served since Mom got discharged from the hospital a week back. Things are getting more normal but not for me because Dad still made me take those boring lectures on Politics by Mukesh for my better future; Like I am going to be a politician.
Karan bro joined us too at the table as we bid good mornings to each other. He seems too calm over the fact that he is no longer going to be a bachelor or maybe, he has adjusted himself for the future consequences, I guess.
My eyes roamed on the Macbook in my hand, noticing I am still receiving messages from Tina. Ain't I told her already that everything is finished between us, then why is she doing this? I didn't even care to open the messages to know what she had written in them. She is still stuck on the prank Ronnie did with me, she thinks, I am the one who sent her. I will do that only either in her dreams or after getting beaten by a mad dog, not before it.
"I can't wait for bro's marriage! No, Sunny?" My sister Kaya's voice almost snaps me from my thoughts.
"Yeah, Yeah," I replied in God knows what she said. Suddenly Karan bro snatched my MacBook away when I was about to reply to Tina, "What, brother?!"
"No gadgets during food." He said.
"But-" and Dad cut me off.
"No, buts, Sunny, Karan is right." Dad supported him.
I rolled my eyes and started to eat the food in annoyance. I want to send her at least one reply of not contacting me again which I can always do later but I don't want her silly texts to fill up my space.
And the next few days went well enough for me because everyone got busy in the preparation of bro's wedding so dad didn't order me to do things and all I did was to see how everything is going on which is the most comforting job I ever got because Deepak was doing my work. Since today's wedding day, I decided to check on the groom aka my brother. I haven't seen him for a while.
I made my way upstairs towards the dressing room after I heard Mom saying to dad that Karan bro has gone to get ready. I wasted no time and hopped into the room without knocking.
I found him with the designers who have designed the entire wedding clothes for all of us. Karan bro was adjusting the size of the most expensively beautiful sherwani, as I stepped into the room, I, for once thought traveled back in the era of royal kings. The way he was carrying this heavy king look made me rethink if I am looking at the same man or not.
I cleared my throat to get his attention and hence, he is my brother, he didn't even care to look behind. "Ain't you should watch all the preparations?" He asked, through the full-length oak wood mirror.
"Nah, bruh, I came here to check on the groom," I replied, walking up to him.
He raises his brow, "Why?"
"I thought you might need some company, after all, it's your last day of independence." I joked. As he dismissed them.
"I don't think so. No one can steal my freedom from me." He says in a serious tone.
"Right. And still, you agreed to marry the girl you never saw…"I trailed off, expectantly, "What if she's marrying you just for wealth?"
He shook his head, "No, Sunny, Mom has chosen the bride for me, so I am pretty sure she would be nice not some greedy bitch."
"Like Monica?" I asked, jokingly only to earn his dead glare.
He made sure if anyone is hearing us or not, and after confirming, he spoke, "Keep your loudspeaker shut, Sunny, I am already nervous enough because of this stupid wedding now don't ruin my entire mood by taking her name."
I raised my hands in surrender and was about to apologize when my grin lifted brightly in realization, "Wait a minute, you're nervous? My brother is nervous? First Kunwar sa is nervous?! Like seriously?!" I couldn't hide the happiness in my voice. I should be a bit worried for my brother but here, I am enjoying it because this is the first time he's ever admitting he's nervous.
"Of course, I am human." He retorted, "And How I couldn't be nervous, Man, I am going to start a new phase of my life with a girl I have no idea of, I think I should have to meet her for once to know how she looks and stuff."
"Uhh, you're gonna meet her anyway in some time."
"Yeah, now leave me alone. I want some 'Me-time." He stated, moving his eyes to the jewelry he is going to wear.
I wanted to ask him a few things but I didn't want to take the risk of getting scolded by him as I said, "Sure."
"Great, there is the door, " He says, pointing behind me and I leave the room. I decided to go to the wedding venue to pass my time.
I don't know why but I am kinda getting bored like something is missing. No, someone is missing here, or am I missing someone? But who?
I wandered off to the open wedding area, observing the beautiful location and the decoration in front of me. My parents must have spent crores on this. Which seems worth it.
I allowed my gazes to roam around when it suddenly fell onto the most unexpected guest.
Sanaya.
She was in a beautiful sharp mustard-colored silver lining across the lehenga with a green queen necklace around her neck which was suiting her shiny brown skin perfectly like she just came out from the pool of gold. And the way she is looking today with her brown wavy hair tied up in a Cinderella's hairstyle, which fastened my heart race.
I thought, this a private wedding not everyone is allowed here except for the family members of the bride. She was with some ladies whom I assumed my bhabhi's mother and Aunt. So, is that mean…?
My heart was now skipping the beats for a serious moment when I saw her smiling over a talk, I don't know what was happening to me but I just felt like watching her that smile all day, even though I am sounding like a creep but I am 100% sure, I won't ever get tired of this gorgeous view in front of me.
My own smiles widened when I notice her walking in my direction...but, wait, a serious yet furious expression was held on her face which raised confusion in my brain as she suddenly treated my left cheek with a tight slap.
