Chapter 10
He's laughing.
When I looked down, I was relieved to see that I still had my clothes.
-Earlier, I just said that as a joke, he told me.
He deserved a huge slap that one.
-Luckily, I only have to put up with you one day a week, I told him. I would die if it didn't.
-It's strange, I said the same thing to myself, he said ironically.
"So much the better," I whispered.
I set off on the trail to head back to camp, even though I had no idea which way to go, and then Hunter joined me.
-Why are you following me? I said.
-I'm not following you, I'm going to the refectory, that's all.
We walked in silence for at least five long, arduous minutes. Then Hunter broke the silence.
-Tomorrow night is the full moon, I hope you will come because it is something not to be missed.
- No thank you, I don't want to be eaten. I hold on to life.
-Don't worry, those who don't yet know how to control themselves go further into the forest so as not to hurt anyone. We can witness the transformation of those who master themselves perfectly, if they want to of course.
-I'll see that.
Then the silence fell.
-Hey! So how did it go with Hunter? Wendy asked me as I entered the bungalow.
-Catastrophic.
-Oh come on! Surely it wasn't that bad, right? Tell me !
-He took me deeper into the forest and explained to me how transfiguration worked. I wanted to turn into a cat, but that stupid shapeshifter distracted me so I ended up turning into a mouse.
She laughed then I continued
-People were coming in our direction so he turned into an eagle and took me in one of his big claws and flew away!
-That must have been impressive, right?
-But not at all ! I was dizzy!
-Oh. But otherwise, is that okay?
-Yeah, much better. And you ? I asked him, remembering that the full moon was tomorrow.
-Ugh, there have been better days.
-Because of were hormones, or Cody?
-Wh... What? What do you mean, Cody?
-I'm not blind, I saw him sit next to you at lunch. And according to your murderous gaze, he was too close to you. From the way he looked at you, he seems to like you a lot.
She remained silent.
-I won't bother you anymore with that, are you good at controlling yourself on the evening of a full moon?
-Not perfectly, so I go further into the camp forest.
-All right.
We left the bungalow to go to the refectory for dinner. I was really looking forward to it, not to eat with Hunter, but because I was really hungry. Metamorphosing was exhausting and emptying the stomach.
When we entered the refectory, we had quite a surprise. There was a food fight. It was the first time I attended.
There was spaghetti on the menu, so it was messy. Then suddenly, Wendy got a lot of pasta in her face. There was a heavy silence.
The noodles falling from her hair, she gave the entire room a murderous glare.
There was a flash of light then a loud roar. A storm had just broken out outside.
-Come on, let's clean this up, I whispered to Wendy, taking her arm to take her to the bathroom.
But she stood there. She took someone's plate, a full plate, then shouted:
-Who did this to me!?
Cody stood up.
- I aimed badly, sorry, said the latter.
And in a jiffy, she swung the plate in his face. Everyone burst out laughing, even Wendy.
And the rumblings outside ceased.
Strange, the storm hadn't even lasted two minutes.
We all had a blast for a good ten minutes. Until Melissa, the camp director, walks into the room. Everyone became still, creating a huge silence.
-What the fuck is this? Who started ? she screamed.
Someone stood up at the other end of the room, when I recognized him, I was almost glad that it was him who was being scolded.
It was Zack, the vampire who played with other people's emotions.
But unfortunately, everyone was punished. Throughout the evening, we cleaned the room. Wendy and Cody kept complaining for nothing. The reason ? Probably werewolf hormones. They were bitching and growling at everyone. They even sent them away.
Once the cleaning was done, Wendy and I left the dining hall to go to our bungalow. Then walking, we passed Nathan and Hunter.
Nathan came a little too close to me. He put his hand in my hair and pulled out a noodle.
"You shouldn't sleep with that on," he said smiling at his two beautiful canines.
I laughed lightly.
I glanced behind Nathan, who was in front of me, and saw Hunter glaring at his back.
Was he jealous of this closeness?
