Secret
Half awake, I smell a wonderful smell next to me and move closer to her to go back to sleep. A groan of satisfaction answers me as well as a slight pressure around my hips.
A growl? I snap my eyes open and face Daemon. My heart skips a beat and I try to get away from him. But a sharp pain in my wrist stops me and I hold back a hiss of pain. By dint of gesticulating, my movements woke him up.
- Hi, did you sleep well?
I blush uncontrollably and try to pull away. Sighing, he opens his arms and lets me go.
- Do you feel better like this? I'm sorry, my wolf would want to touch you all the time, I didn't want to make you feel uncomfortable.

To divert his attention, I take the time to detail the room in which I am, it must be his bedroom. Driven by curiosity, I get up and explore the room, Daemon watching me with a slight smile.
I look at the books in his library, the pictures that hang on the walls... On one of them, he's with the twins and Kyle, they look so happy.
Once my inspection is over, I turn to the wolf who still hasn't moved. His eyes have grown darker and I don't know what that means.
Uncomfortable, I look away and mechanically grab the end of my dress before realizing that I no longer wear the same outfit. I widen my eyes and look at Daemon in surprise.
- Yes, so that... Do you remember falling asleep in my arms?
Seeing that I nod, he explains what happened next.
- Well, I asked your wolf to make you human again, Tristan took care of the bandage on your wrist and Trisha didn't want you to put your dress back on... So she kicked us out. infirmary long enough to replace your clothes with mine. She couldn't pass you hers, you're not the same size and my wolf wouldn't let you wear anything that belonged to another male. So this is it...
His voice makes me shiver from head to toe and I look down at his T-shirt, he could have at least given me some pants with... I nervously try to pull down the piece of fabric to hide my legs but nothing don't do it.
- My shorts are too big for you, he adds, answering my silent question. Then, I didn't want to let you sleep in the infirmary so I brought you here but don't worry, nothing else happened, he said raising his hands and joining me.
That's when I noticed he was only wearing boxers to sleep and I swallowed hard. But how does he manage to have such abs! He comes as close as he can and reaches for my face, I tense up but don't try to stop him. Taking that as an invitation, Daemon slowly strokes my cheek with his thumb. Seeing that touch only triggers a delicious stomach-twisting pain, I press my face against his hand, closing my eyes. His hand moves from my cheek to my waist, and Daemon hugs me tight. I don't know how long we stay like that, cut off from the world, but a sound of falling breaks this moment.
- I think it's time I went to see what's going on, Daemon sighs, looking at me. Would you rather stay here alone or come down with me to see the others?
The memory of yesterday's fight petrifies me and I grab Daemon's hand so he won't leave me alone again.
- Yeah, I'd rather you stay with me too but I'm not going to let you go in that outfit.
He hands me one of his sweaters and a pair of sweatpants that are twice the size and I'm holding it in the hand that isn't Daemon's. He gets dressed in turn and then we go down to the living room. For more security, I stay behind him. When we arrive, all the discussions stop.
Luckily for me, only the twins and Kyle are there, they seem like Daemon's closest people.
- Well, it's time to make the introductions. This is Kyle, he's the red wolf who saved you yesterday. Kyle, meet my soul mate, Daemon announces, pulling me to his side.
The young man simply nods in my direction, watching me carefully.
- You feel better ? I'm glad to see you, I was so scared earlier! I was the one who felt there was a problem but Kyle insisted on going and seeing for himself and luckily I couldn't have done much for him.
- Trisha, let her talk, Kyle interrupts. You could at least thank me for saving you, he adds, addressing me directly.
- Kyle! The girl exclaims indignantly.
- Well what, it's the least of things, isn't it? And then I can't wait to hear the first words you're going to say because since you arrived, it's not politeness that suffocates you. So, since Tristan is talking about post-traumatic stress, I want to hear your version of the facts. Why don't you give us your first name? You show up here and we get attacked in less than 24 hours, you came here to pit us against each other? Answer me ! He yells, approaching menacingly.
He doesn't take more than two steps forward when Daemon angrily stops him.
- Don't talk about my soul mate like that!
- I want to know who it is, why is she refusing to answer my questions?
Terrified by this turn of events, I look around for something that might help me. Meanwhile, the twins try to separate the two wolves before the situation escalates further.
I see a pen and a diary at the other end of the room, probably to write down their patrol schedules. It doesn't take me more than a few seconds to cross the living room, but a sudden blow to the leg knocks me into the hallway.
As usual, no sound comes out of my mouth despite the pain. Luckily for me, the notebook fell by my side.
- Why did you do that Kyle? Leave her !
- No way, I'm not going to watch her escape because you think she's defenseless. So where did you want to run? He asks, tightening his grip around my ankle.
At that moment, I thank Daemon for lending me some pants, thanks to that, I don't feel the touch of Kyle's hand against my skin.
I wince in pain but continue to write in this damn notebook, I no longer feel the blood circulating in my foot.
In a last burst of courage, I tear off the page and turn around to show it to him.
- A-Alyss?
I nodded as I felt his grip loosen.
- I-You You are-
- Are you mute? Tristan asks, crouching beside me while keeping his distance.
I nod again, but more slowly this time. I dare not look up at Daemon, I couldn't bear to be rejected again.
- But your wolf is fine, so why? Ask my soul mate
I don't answer, it would take too long to explain and there are things I'm not ready to tell.
Trisha walks over to me and sits on the floor smiling at me. He's the only person in the room who doesn't seem upset by the news.
- I really like your first name, you know, she announces, breaking the silence. I'm sure Snow would love it too. You remember him ? That's my duck...
I throw a smile at the young girl, she is truly a remarkable person. But Daemon's silence prevents me from concentrating, he hasn't moved since a while ago. My wolf runs in circles in my mind, she shares my concern.
Just as I was about to get up to leave the room, Daemon walks toward me with a determined step.
