Chapter 5: Ulric's Tattoo
Moreover, the tattoo bore the marks of age, deeply ingrained in the skin, rather than appearing fresh and recently done.
If Tilda's information was accurate, then 0825 could potentially signify the birthday of Ulric's significant other.
She knew his birthday fell in April, while the birthdays of the chairman and his wife, who happened to be Ulric's parents, were both in July. None of these dates aligned with the tattoo.
Her birthday was November 14th.
None of those numbers matched up.
Reflecting on Ulric's icy demeanor, she speculated that his decision to get a tattoo, an audacious and somewhat juvenile act, might indicate the depth of his affection for the other person.
Regret washed over Rosalind as she realized the impulsiveness of her actions the previous night. Why hadn't she inquired about Ulric's relationship status before indulging in the encounter?
Despite Ulric's attractive appearance, impressive physique, and remarkable capabilities, Rosalind firmly upheld her moral principles. She had no intention of becoming involved with someone who already belonged to another, no matter how alluring he may be.
"Tilda, do you happen to know anyone close to Mr. Walters whose birthday is on August 25th?"
"How would I know? Prosperity Holdings Company is merely a subsidiary of W Group, which already dominates 70% of the domestic investment market. Mr. Walters presides over the entire W Group! I'm not privy to his personal matters!"
"......"
Not privy, yet surprisingly well-informed, it seemed.
Suddenly, Tilda's memory was triggered. "Wait, I believe Sirena Reynolds, the chief lawyer of W Group, has a birthday in August. I've come across her resume before. She's an elegant and wealthy beauty. There was even a buzz when she attended an event with Mr. Walters. Let me find a photo for you!"
"No need," Rosalind promptly interjected.
With this piece of information, she could already envision a grand romantic drama unfolding within a wealthy family.
It became clear why Ulric had been so distant and business-focused earlier, intentionally keeping his distance from her to avoid potential controversies. By acting unfamiliar with her in the presence of others, he ensured that even if she were to disclose something inappropriate, it would lack credibility.
Ulric's shrewdness was undoubtedly a significant factor in his rise to the position of president.
After ending the call, Rosalind retired to her room, changed into more comfortable attire, and proceeded to organize the materials for her new project on her computer. Her mother's significant medical expenses demanded her undivided attention, leaving no room for romantic musings.
She feverishly typed away on the keyboard, oblivious to the several silent notifications lighting up her phone nearby.
Only when exhaustion took hold and she decided to continue her work the following day did she notice three missed voice calls from Ulric, all received four hours ago, along with a message:
[Wake up and call me back.]
What could he possibly want from her?
Perhaps it was a warning for her to remain silent or an offer of hush money. Accepting such money would compromise her integrity.
Rosalind paused for a moment, her fingers hesitating over the keyboard, before typing: [Let's pretend last night never happened. I won't disclose anything.]
However, just as she was about to send the message, she reconsidered and deleted Ulric's contact information entirely.
This way, he would be assured that she would maintain confidentiality.
Setting her phone aside, Rosalind drifted off to sleep.
Until a phone call from Mr. Chan abruptly jolted her awake.
"Hand over the project contract to Anna."
"Mr. Chan, I—"
Before she could finish her sentence, the call abruptly ended, leaving her with no opportunity to respond.
Rosalind had no choice but to get up and look for the project contract. But after searching through her luggage thoroughly, she couldn't find the folder!
She clearly remembered taking it out to check when she first checked into the hotel!
Suddenly, Rosalind froze.
Oh no...
It must have been left in room 1501 when she fled in a hurry that morning and was picked up by Ulric!
