Summary

"She's pregnant. Let's divorce." After a year of secret marriage, Dillan brought a woman home and proposed divorce. Ivy showed him the positive pregnancy test. “What about our baby?” “I never slept with you. Stop lying,” Dillan said. Heartbroken, Ivy never wanted to see him again. Four years later, Ivy returned as a top lawyer. Dillan begged for remarriage, kneeling in the rain. Ivy sneered, “Forgive you? Only if you die kneeling here!” Just then, a little kid ran out. “Mommy, why's that uncle kneeling?” Dillan was shocked. 'I thought she’d aborted the baby, but this boy's a mini-version of me!'

Chapter 1: She's Pregnant, Let's Divorce

The Zane family villa.

"Dillan, when will you be back? I have something to tell you."

Ivy Yancey's face lit up with a sweet smile as she looked down at the positive pregnancy test in her hand.

The man's voice on the other end of the phone was deep and steady. "I'm already back, in the living room."

"Really? I'll come down then."

She hung up the phone immediately, clutching the pregnancy test, and rushed out of the bedroom, eager to share the good news with him.

She hurried down the stairs but slowed her pace as she remembered she was pregnant.

Holding the pregnancy test tightly in her hand, she wondered how Dillan Zane would react to the news.

Halfway down the stairs, she saw two figures in the living room—Dillan and a woman with a striking figure.

She stopped slowly, gripping the handrail tightly as her heart sank.

Dillan and the woman were behaving intimately, like lovers in a passionate relationship.

Ivy's smile froze on her face. Her mind went blank, and her feet felt as heavy as lead as she descended the stairs step by step.

"Dillan..."

She finally reached the living room, but as soon as she spoke, the man interrupted coldly, "She's pregnant. Let's get a divorce."

So straightforward, so eager.

Just as eager as she was to share her pregnancy news.

The woman clung to Dillan's arm and smiled. "Mrs. Zane, I'm sorry, but it's time for you to step aside."

Ivy stared at the woman's hand, her eyes dimming as tears welled up. Her heart felt like it was being torn apart.

She tightened her grip on the pregnancy test and held it out to him. "What about our child? How can you be so heartless?"

Dillan glanced coldly at the positive test and sneered. "You can't be pregnant. I've never touched you. Stop trying to deceive me with this."

If it hadn't been for his grandfather's illness and threat of death, he would never have married Ivy.

To his surprise, after marrying Ivy, his grandfather miraculously recovered.

Sometimes he wondered if Ivy and his grandfather had conspired to force him into marriage.

His words left Ivy wide-eyed in shock. She retorted loudly, "You did touch me! At the company's celebration party, you were drunk..."

"The celebration party was out of town. You weren't even there. How could I have slept with you? Ivy, let’s keep a bit of our dignity here. You know I despise clingy women."

The man's ruthlessness was evident in his impatient gaze.

"I..."

Ivy wanted to explain that she had attended the celebration party, taken care of him while he was drunk, and spent that absurd night with him, resulting in their baby.

But seeing his attitude, she didn't want to explain anything anymore.

Ha...

Her heart felt dead. What was there to say to a man who would abandon his wife and child?

"Mrs. Zane, it's better to divorce. Dillan doesn't love you. There's no point in dragging this out."

The woman leaned coquettishly on Dillan's shoulder, her triumphant smile like a declaration of victory.

Ivy took a deep breath, suppressing the pain in her chest, and looked at the man before her. "Fine, let's divorce. You decide when to handle the paperwork. I'll be ready anytime."

With that, she turned and left the villa without looking back.

As she walked away, tears streamed down her face. She never wanted to see this man again.

A hint of surprise crossed Dillan's handsome features. He hadn't expected her to agree so quickly. Was she really that fragile?

He figured Ivy would be all about the money and wouldn’t want to give up being Mrs. Zane.

After all, before marrying into the Zane family, Ivy had been nothing but a poor girl from a fallen family.

"Yay! Dillan, your wife agreed to divorce! When will you marry me?" The woman looked expectantly at him.

Dillan pushed her away with disgust in his eyes. "Don't worry. Even if every woman on earth died, I wouldn't marry you."

The woman was stunned, unable to accept his sudden change in attitude.

"Dillan, how can you say that? I'm carrying your child..."

"Like hell you are! You know whose child it is. Get out!" Dillan roared at her before heading upstairs.

There was no way he would let such a woman bear his child. Ridiculous.

...

After leaving the villa, Ivy went straight to the hospital for a series of tests and scheduled an abortion.

"Miss Yancey, you're seven weeks pregnant with an intrauterine pregnancy. The fetus has a heartbeat and buds. Are you sure you want an abortion?"

Ivy looked down at her abdomen and gently touched it.

Baby, I'm sorry.

I can't bring you into this world.

She nodded firmly. "Yes, please schedule it as soon as possible."

The doctor indifferently wrote up the surgery order. This was a common occurrence; there were always people coming for abortions every day.

"Come for surgery tomorrow. Remember to fast."

"Thank you."

Ivy left the doctor's office with the order in hand.

As soon as she stepped out of the hospital, she received a call from Old Mr. Zane. After hesitating for a moment, she answered.

"Grandpa."

"Ivy, come home for dinner tonight. I've asked the kitchen to prepare your favorite dishes. Dillan will be there too."

The old man knew their relationship was super cold and deliberately created opportunities for them.

Ivy wanted to decline. "Grandpa, I have something tonight..."

"Don't try to fool me. Both of you must come back for dinner. That's final."

He hung up before she could argue further.

She stared blankly at her phone.

If it hadn't been for Old Mr. Zane's insistence, she and Dillan wouldn't have married. She still didn't understand why he wanted them to marry so badly.

...

Evening fell as night descended upon the city.

Ivy took a taxi back to the old house for one last look; she might not have another chance after this.

The butler spotted her immediately and approached with joy. "Madam, you're finally back. Old Mr. Zane has been waiting for you."

"Zack, I'm sorry I'm late." She smiled weakly.

"It's alright. As long as you're back. Old Mr. Zane was just worried you wouldn't come."

Ivy made her way to the dining room and found Dillan already seated there without even glancing at her.

Old Mr. Zane stood up to greet her. "Ivy, come sit down; the food is getting cold."

Ivy walked over intending to sit next to Grandpa but was forcibly placed beside Dillan by Old Mr. Zane.

"You two should sit together like a proper couple. Now let's eat."

Old Mr. Zane smiled contentedly at seeing them sit together.

Dillan continued eating without sparing Ivy a glance.
