“Baby, I want you right now!” Helen grabbed me, wrapping her arms around my neck. She smacked my butt behind the wine bottles and rubbed against my crotch. I cleared my throat.
“What? Here? Right now?” I rolled my eyes, but my body was getting hot. Her crazy energy was turning me on.
“Yes, right here and now—no waiting.” Helen stared at me and bit her lip.
I couldn’t stop looking at her mouth as she licked her bottom lip. “Okay, but what if someone sees us? You’re my client! The boss will chew me out or even fire me.”
“Baby, the boss is your dad! And you’re the heir to this whole wine company. He can’t complain about you keeping a client happy.” She slid her hand into my pants, making me moan.
“Fine, we’ll make it quick,” I said with a nod. I pushed her against the wall, hiked up her dress, dropped my pants, and we went at it for ten minutes. Who could blame me for pleasing a client? But Helen wasn’t the only one. My days were filled with hooking up with women, drinking all night, and making my special wine.
At least I worked hard at something. I was one of the best in the business in the country. My dad and grandpa had been famous for decades. We owned millions of acres of vineyards. [Karma.]
“Javier!” My father barked my name. I straightened my suit, kissed Helen’s cheek, and hurried out.
“Yes, boss!” I let out a sharp breath when I saw him talking to clients. Thank God he hadn’t caught me.
“Where have you been?” My boss raised an eyebrow, looking me up and down. I think he noticed something off.
I stammered, “I was just checking on something! Do you need anything, boss?”
“Yes—don’t crap in my office! Act like a man! You’re not a teenager anymore. You’re almost 25. Find a wife, please!” My father gave me a disgusted look.
I gasped. “God, a wife? No way, I’m way too young for that!”
“Just get out. Your mother called you several times. She wants you now.” My boss told me.
We kept it professional at work—he was the boss. At home, he was Dad. When he said Mom called, we both jumped. Not because she was strict, but because we both adored her. She was the sweetest person ever.
I nodded. “Got it. I’m going. Don’t be late, Dad—I mean, boss.” I waved and hopped into my car. One of my girls walked up and blocked me as I got in. “Baby, I want to see you tonight,” she said with a wink.
“Sorry, I’m busy. It’s my mom, so move it.” I sounded annoyed. I sped off, ignoring her. Yeah, I’m a player, but not when it comes to Mom.
I parked in the garage of our mansion. Our house sat on thousands of acres—huge, with everything you could dream of. It was paradise, thanks to Mom and Dad’s family.
Did I mention I’m the only guy in this family? It’s full of women. And no, I haven’t slept with all of them. Okay, most of them.
“Mom!” I yelled, looking around the palace. The servants pointed me to the kitchen. With all the maids, she still cooked herself. And honestly, no one’s food tasted better than hers. She was the best.
“There you are! You almost gave me a heart attack! Why do you do this, Mom? You say it’s urgent, then it’s nothing! I told you—don’t use that word unless someone died or there’s a fire or—” I let out a relieved breath and raised an eyebrow.
“Son, it is urgent! You need dinner, or you’ll lose your strength—especially jumping from bed to bed!” She smirked, arms crossed.
I swallowed hard and rolled my eyes. “Mom, I’m not!”
“Oh, really? I’m so disappointed, Javier!” She shook her head.
“I’m not jumping from bed to bed! It’s all in my bed. I just switch out the girls, that’s all.” I teased, leaning in to kiss her cheek.
“Son, it’s written in your coffee grounds and your tarot cards. You’re going to fall in love soon—with a virgin girl.” She put her hands on my shoulders.
I frowned. “Mom, why do you keep saying that?”
“Whatever. I don’t think you even know who you are. Sleeping with tons of girls doesn’t make you a real man. I’d rather see you settled with a dog than chasing every girl you meet.” Mom muttered.
“Can we change the subject?” I widened my eyes.
“Yes, but promise me first—you’ll stop sleeping around, find a wife, and quit drinking all night!” Mom stared deep into my eyes.
I saluted. “I promise, Mom.”
“Now, will you try blind dates? I—” Mom started.
I cut her off, shaking my head. “No way! I’m good-looking, rich, sexy. My phone’s full of girls. Why would I need a blind date?”
“Okay, then find someone! You look like a magazine model—fancy brands, expensive shoes, luxury car. But it’s empty.” Mom looked shocked. What’s wrong with that?
“So what?” I raised my eyebrows.
“Son, let me tell you—love makes life fun, not money. Cash keeps you going, but it doesn’t make you happy. One day you’ll meet someone you’d do anything for, and she’ll turn you down.” Mom said. Her tarot was never wrong, so I felt a pang in my chest. I’m scared of commitment. I hate feeling weak. I’m a positive guy—if I fell hard and she dumped me, it would crush me.
Dad walked in, kissed Mom. “Well, lovebirds, I gotta go.” I winked.
“Stay for dinner first.” Dad said firmly. I nodded.
My phone rang—one of my party buddies, Sam. I stepped away to answer quietly. “Yeah, Sam.”
“Meet me tonight at Gabriela Club. Don’t be late,” he said.
I whispered, “Sure, midnight.” I turned and saw Mom right there. I forced a smile—she’d heard it all.
“Not again, Javier, please.” Mom frowned. I kissed her forehead and bolted, waving. “Bye for now!” How could I stay when they nagged me every day? My life was fun—until that night. Everything flipped upside down.
