Chapter 11: A Necessary Trial

Wilde Jewelry Group was the largest jewelry seller in Ubrilens, as well as one of the top ten jewelry groups in the country, with powerful capital.

No one knew who this old man was. He actually sent Leo an invitation over a gambling game.

Originally Sophia thought that Leo would immediately say yes, but after pondering for a little while, he actually replied, "I'll think about it."

"Okay, you can think about it." The old man was also a bit surprised by Leo's answer, but after giving him a stare, he said, implying something, "I will let someone contact you, young man. But all talents need someone who can see their talent. You should cherish your opportunity. Well, goodbye."

Seeing the old man turn away after saying that, Sophia complained to Leo, "What a great opportunity it is to work at Wilde Jewelry Group! Why didn't you say yes to him?"

"What if he's a scammer?" Leo answered with nonchalance.

Now that he was in possession of his abilities, jobs were not attractive to him at all, and if he wanted to make money, he could just gamble a few more games.

Sophia was speechless, if Leo could get a good job, she would probably suffer less abuse at home.

"Someone fell!"

Suddenly there was a shout.

Leo and Sophia looked over and saw that it was the old man they had just talked to who had fainted.

Many people saw it, but no one went forward to help the old man. No one even made any call.

Nowadays, kindness was slipping away.

Leo quickly ran over and gave the old man acupuncture.

Taking out the silver needles, Leo said in his ear, "Sir, wake up..."

"This gentleman must be an expert in traditional medicine."

"I agree. He seemed to know what he's doing."

"But after that old man wakes up, he might not be grateful for that."

"I don't think so, after all, that young man was saving him."

"Hard to say..."

The onlookers were discussing.

Not long after, the old man woke up, and when he saw that it was Leo who saved him, a grateful smile appeared on his face, "Young man, you saved my life."

Leo retrieved the silver needles, then helped the man slowly stand up.

"I had a relapse. Thank you for saving me. I'm surprised you also know medicine," the old man looked at Leo with an appreciative gaze.

"Sir, I only temporarily relieved your headache. You should go to the hospital and have a check-up. Also, you'd better stop drinking," Leo suggested.

"I love drinking more than my own life," the old man sighed, "I'm really thankful to you today and I hope you can give serious thought to my suggestion."

Compared to his own illness, the old man seemed to be more concerned about whether Leo would come to work at Wilde Jewelry Group or not.

"I will."

After parting ways with the old man, Leo and Sophia went to a store that engaged in jade carving and handed the already-polished raw stone to the owner.

After hearing the owner's suggestion, Sophia planned to carve the raw stone into a toad as her father's birthday gift.

After making an appointment with the owner to pick it up at noon two days later, Leo and Sophia left.

Originally, Leo had planned to go to the hospital to treat Harry's father, but Sophia didn't want to go. She asked Leo to drive her to the company.

On the way to the company, Sophia said, "Leo, you've been hiding it far too well. Tell me the truth, when did you learn to gamble on stones?"

"I didn't learn. I was just lucky," Leo casually explained.

"So lucky that a big shot wants to recruit you?" Sophia obviously didn't believe it, "You've been hiding your talent for three years. And you even know traditional medicine. How many secrets are hidden in you?"

Leo was a bit nervous, as it was hard to explain.

Fortunately, Sophia didn't hold on to her questions.

After sending Sophia to her company, Leo went to the hospital again.

Harry and Venus were also in the hospital. Leo gave their father an injection and then prescribed medicine for him before leaving.

After leaving the hospital, Leo didn't go back to the villa, instead, he navigated on his phone to a park in the suburbs.

He was going to gather some spiritual energy there in the open space.

Without spiritual energy, he couldn't practice according to the methods described in the Nine Transformations of the Stars. Worse still, his special abilities would be gone when the spiritual energy in him was exhausted.

In a quaint coffeehouse on Antique Street.

"Coral, I want to introduce someone to you." The old man who had been helped by Leo was sitting in one of the rooms on the second floor and was on the phone with someone.

A sweet voice came from the other end of the phone, "Grandpa, I've already said that you don't need to worry about me finding a boyfriend."

"What are you thinking? It's not about that," an amused expression appeared on the old man's face as he said this.

"Then why are you introducing this guy to me?"

"I want you to recruit him to work for us as a jade appraiser."

"Grandpa, what kind of person is he? You seem to think highly of him," The woman on the other end of the phone was curious.

The old man then briefly told the story of how he met Leo.

After the woman heard the story, she said doubtfully, "Grandpa, I'm afraid that guy was just lucky. You can't say someone got talents just based on a single gambling game."

"Are you questioning my eyes for talents?" The old man was dissatisfied.

The woman on the other end of the phone hurriedly explained, "How dare I question you! Alright, tomorrow I'll have the personnel department notify him to come to the company for an interview. I'll personally interview him. Okay?"

"Okay. You can see if he's got the talent I said. If not, you can just casually arrange a position for him in the company, after all, that young man has saved me."

"Saved you?" the woman was a little nervous, "What happened?"

"I'll talk to you later. Well, I'm going to drink my coffee now," the old man said and hung up.

...

Coming to the park, Leo found a place by the pond and sat down cross-legged. Then with his eyes slightly closed, he tried to use the method recorded on the first chapter in Nine Transformations of the Stars to connect with the spiritual energy.

If he connected with spiritual energy, he could reverse the Spiritual Power, and channel the spiritual energy into his body to be refined and absorbed.

It sounded complicated, but in fact it was just like the photosynthesis of plants. Sunlight is where spiritual energy comes from, and Spiritual Power is the carbohydrates produced after photosynthesis.

After trying for hours, Leo finally connected with some spiritual energy.

Although it was a little, it was better than nothing. Leo began to try to refine and absorb it.

While he was focusing, he didn't notice that the pond in front of him had changed a bit.
