A bitch

For two days, my mind was plagued with the meeting I had with the Christophos brothers. I couldn't shake off their words, no matter how hard I tried. It was as if they used their claws on me, wrapping me around with chains, making it difficult for me to think about anything else but their proposal.

“You seem absent-minded, Bella. Tell me, what's wrong?” Chris asked as she sat opposite me. Her lovely golden hair shone as the morning light hit it at a perfect angle, making her look so ethereal it made me jealous.

It was no secret that she was the most beautiful woman in this firm. Almost all the men have a crush on her. And those who don't are gay.

“Nothing,” I smiled at her, taking in her emerald gown, which seemed to bring out the beauty of her hazel eyes. “I love your dress,” I commented, loving the way it hugged her body.

“Thanks. I got it on a trip to Paris. Good God, girl, you need to see the Eiffel Tower!” she gushed.

“Is it as beautiful as the picture?” I raised a brow, eager for some juicy gossip from my friend, who went on a three-day holiday to France.

“Of course! It's the most wonderful place thing ever!”

“Aren't you exaggerating that?” I placed my right hand under my jaw, smiling at the animated faces she made.

“No, not at all!” She hit her palm on the table. “Do you think I would have spent time there if it wasn't gorgeous?” She scowled at me, wrinkling her nose before a smile graced her face. “You need to see this!”

All around us, our colleagues worked on their reports, acting like they weren't secretly listening to her.

Like I said earlier, Chris was the most beautiful woman here, so… Ordinarily, everything she says has an attraction for the men among us.

“If it's not that loser!” Imelda strode towards us, with her arms folded and a satisfied smile on her face. She was putting on a black suit with a red necktie, which she paired off with magnificent red suede heels. Her new pixie hairstyle made her look like a clown, but no one would tell her that.

Why?

Well…

Imelda is a bitch! A Capital One. And should there be any need for some brackets, you got that right.

She's a bitch, whom no one wants to be friends with. But she didn't care. She was always out to rub it in our faces that she's the best journalist in the firm, ever since she cracked the case of the illegal business our governor was involved with.

She thought she was the goddess of the journalism world. And that right there is one of her many flaws.

No one wants to be a friend to the bitch because we don't know when she might snap, taking our heads off with her bare hands.

“What do you want?” Chris turned to her, glaring daggers at the woman, who pretended like she didn't hear the question.

“I'm speaking to you, Bella. You are a lousy loser!” She chuckled, looking pleased with herself. “Do you think you can crack a case that a queen like I couldn't? Oh, spare me that! You are nothing but a child in this. So, I will only advise you. Stay in your damned lane!” She yelled in my face.

“Must you spit on my face before you pass a message across?” I wiped my face, scrunching my nose in disgust.

The others laughed, loving how badass I sounded. If I had thought she looked like the green tea bitch, it was nothing compared to the scowl on her face. She looked as if I had somehow matched her grandma's grave.

“You bitch!” She shrieked. “Do you think you are now a big deal because you got to see them?”

“At least I'm better than you!” I retorted, not in the mood to let anyone speak anyhow to me.

Chris gave me a thumbs up, loving it.

“Better? What's to say you didn't make it all up? There is no way they could have let a loser like you into their house!” She tried to deny the truth, knowing that I got the upper hand in this.

“Oh? But this underdog received an email. Tell me, have you gotten one before, almighty Imelda?” I folded my arms, loving how shocked she looked at my words.

“Gloat for as long as you will, Bella! But all this will end when you don't get an interview with them. When it happens, I will be back to give you a friendly reminder of what a damned loser you are!”With those words said, she stormed towards the elevator while the others returned to their work.

Since I wasn't as popular as Chris, none of them came to either console me or support me.

“Don't mind her. She's just jealous of your progress,” Chris said as she placed her right hand on mine, and gently squeezed, smiling at me.

“No, she's right.” I removed my hand from under hers. “I need to bag an interview with the brothers.” And I know what to do to get that.

“Bella, you don't —”

“No, it's my job, Chris. I got them to reply to my email. I think I'm the only one who can get an interview with them.”

However, it would cost me more than I ever bargained for. I need to show Imelda that she was nothing to me. Getting the brothers to interview will give me enough fame.

All I have to do is sacrifice a little for the future. If my virginity is what they want, they can have it.

It wasn't as if I had any reason to still keep it. I was a virgin, not because I wished to. It was just that I had not had the chance to think about a relationship because I was busy chasing my dreams.
