CHAPTER 5
Aarav's POV
I don't know why I asked her to come to the penthouse. I could have easily accommodated her in one of my hotels. But still, I told James to get her to the penthouse. I decided not to think much so I went to finish my work.
It was almost 1 when I decided to check on Dia whether she was sleeping or not. I went inside her room and saw that she was not in bed. The balcony door was wide open and there she was sitting on the floor her hair was lightly flowing with the air. Her legs were crossed and all she was doing was gazing at the night sky and was saying something. I decided to go near her and listen to it. It was kind of scary to find someone in the middle of the night talking to no one.
"I really miss you" she kept on repeating it. I wonder who she this 'you' is. She was not her usual self. She was rather looking very sad and her eyes were also not very cheery as usual. She was not crying I knew that. I then finally decided to barge in.
"You know what it's not good to stay up so late and then talk to someone whom others can't see," I said and sat beside her.
"I can't see him either just imaging maybe he is somewhere here," she said with a smile.
"Is this how you are in the midnight, all scary and philosophical" I don't know why I was talking to her but I felt nice while talking to her.
"I think so" this was the first time when I noticed a sweet little dimple on her right cheek.
"Who were you thinking about," I said acting all innocent.
"My dad" she replied.
"Hmm, what happened," I asked.
"He was a martyr," she said with a pound smile.
"Army?" I asked
"Nope Airforce he was a squadron leader at..... the time of his death I might be only 10 I guess," she said. I just wanted to listen to her. Now I am thinking that how lucky I am. "My mom used to say that my loved me a lot and was very close to me but I don't remember anything" and then a tear escaped her beautiful eyes I could take it so I quickly hugged her.
"It's okay there is nothing to cry about Dia I know you are proud of him and he is proud of you" I then started rubbing her back. She was always all strong and answering me back but now she was all vulnerable and fragile.
"I am sorry I ruined your shirt," she said while wiping her tears.
"It's okay, beautiful, but now you need to sleep" I then looked outside and saw that it was now raining heavily. "And I don't think this rain will stop anytime soon," I said with a smile. I then tucked her in her bed and taking a last glance of her I went to sleep.
Next morning I woke up to the ringing sound of my phone it was Mom.
"Hello Good Mor-" she cut me off.
"Aarav Rai you so are dead meat right now," she said angrily.
"What happened mom," I asked in a confused tone.
"Are you listening to this Arjun 'What happened'" she mimicked me. "Last time when you got that girl what was her name uh uh uh forget it whatever her name was I told you that you will not be having any girl around for your misdeed, didn't I or didn't I not" she was really angry.
"Yeah but-" she again cut me off.
"That's it, did you listen to that Arjun he remembers it well but just not listening to me" she was damn furious.
"Mom will you listen to me it's not like what you are thinking. She is my HRM and as yesterday was raining all the roads were blocked so I offered her to come here. That's it" I said.
"And you didn't do anything like that," she asked.
"No mom we didn't do anything and if I would have tried to touch she would have killed me. So nothing, okay?" I said.
"If you say, well I am coming over I have made breakfast for you," she said.
"Can't say it that you just want to check?" I said with a smirk.
"Aarav-" I cut her off.
"Mom I love you will be waiting for you" I then hung up.
God.
I then decided to wake Dia up. I went into her room and saw her sleeping she was looking really very beautiful and innocent while sleeping no wonder I like her so much. Wait what.
"Dia" I called her out. She quickly opened her eyes. Light sleeper I guess.
"Am I late for the work sorry I'll just take a shower" she then started getting off the bed "I'll make it really Qu-" she stopped saying because I had held her wrist.
"We are not going to work today as the weather department has said it's best to be at home for few days," I said.
"Oh," she said "so can I go back to sleep," she asked with the puppy face.
"Don't do that it won't work and no you can't go back to sleep my mom is coming so change quickly?" I said and then left the room. I quickly changed into my sweatpants and a white shirt.
Suddenly the bell rang and I knew who it was. Mom.
I went to open the door and she hugged me.
"My firstborn child I so much missed you," she said while hugging me.
"Mom I missed you too," I said that and tried to get off her grip. Man, she was strong. Then finally she left me what a blessing and then I saw that Dia was awkwardly standing near the stairs.
"Oh, you must be Dia" how does she know that. "Arjun told me about you. I am Naina" she then hugged her. God, she is so embarrassing. But to my surprise, Dia hugged her back and there was a really big grin on her face.
"You are really beautiful I must say that," my Mon said while keeping her bag on the table.
"Really? Well, thank you. But I guess you are more pretty" she said.
"Look Aarav this is how a well-mannered girl is not like your bimbo girlfriends," my Mom said.
"Well mannered?" Dia let out a laugh. "I am sorry" she tried to contain her laugh.
"What you are not a well-mannered girl" mom asked while unpacking the food.
"Nope it's not like that it's just that my Dida used to say that I really need to go to some manner learning camp," she said with a chuckle.
"Hmm... I wonder what you do to make your Dida make such comments" mom replied with a smile. "Aarav come here help me with this" she called for me but before I could get up from my seat Dia said "May I help I can do that," she said while going near her.
"Dia just put these in the microwave," she said that and I returned back to my work. "Aarav you keep doing your work not even understanding that someone else is helping me," she said mockingly to which Dia laughed earning a glare from me. I ignored them but to one thing that caught my attention was when mom told her "Your mom is very lucky to have" generally Dia would have replied to that but she just gave a little smile and then started thinking something. She then excused herself and went to the room I guess.
I then helped mom to lay the table when mom said "Aarav why don't you marry her" god dad was right she has lost a few of her screws over the past few years.
"Mom comes on I have only known her for few weeks and besides I don't have any feeling for her" to which mom just smiled "Aarav I am psychiatric and just by looking at the person I can say if he or she likes a person or not."
Was she right do I have a feeling for Dia. And then Dia came down.
We settled on the table and had our breakfast with constant chattering of mom and her. What a company. Finally when we were done mom decided to leave.
"Dia if have ever some spare time please do come Rishi is always in hospital Arina is not in the country and Aarav and Arjun are always busy with their money accumulation. So if Aarav gives you a break please come around" mom said.
"Sure ma'am-" mom cut her off.
"Don't call me ma'am you can call me Auntie if you want okay then I'll see you around. Bye, Aarav take care Dia" mom then went inside the elevator and Dia waved her hand. Then we went inside.
"Your mom is really sweet," she said.
"I know that" I replied. And then I looked at her she was just gazing at the window with a blank expression.
"Have you ever had a natural shower?" she asked suddenly.
"Natural shower?" I asked with a chuckle.
"Yes you know like getting wet in rain on purpose," she said while going towards the balcony door she was about to open it when I stopped her.
"What are you doing. You'll get sick you are not going out there" I said strictly.
"Come on Mr Rai you are no fun. I promise I won't wreck you expensive carpet" now how am I supposed to tell you that I am not concerned about the carpet but you. She opened the sliding door and then went out.
She was jumping like a kid who had just entered a candy shop. She was looking all innocent and was just enjoying the moment. I wanted to go to her hold her dance with her but somehow I held myself.
"Come on Mr Rai you don't have to be such a badass boss come it is really very nice in here. If you enjoy a little your stocks will not affect and phir kya pata....... Kal Ho Na Ho" god don't tell me she is a Bollywood keeda.
"No Mr Rai I don't have a Bollywood keeda" she screamed.
"You don't have to scream Miss Patil, you are audible," I said.
"Then why are you not coming here" she came towards me and grabbed my hand and dragged me with her.
"Come on don't act as if you have never experienced this," she said. And started doing her happy dance I guess. I just watched her with a smile on my face I was really feeling comfortable out here. No matter how much I disliked this weather. And at that very moment, I realised maybe Mom was right. If anyone sees me right now they might not know that I am a cold-hearted billionaire. Because all I am doing here is standing in the rain and looking at some mad girl who is enjoying her life and expects me to do the same. Goddd there is this foreign sensation in my body I just can't let her go now. Maybe she is the one.
"Maybe we should go in" and then she sneezed.
"Great. Now keep sneezing all day mad woman. I told you not to do that" I grabbed her wrist and took her in. I gave her a fresh set of clothes and a towel and told her to take a shower. I then showered myself and dressed in a set of new tees and sweatpants. I West to check on Dia she was now in and a fresh set of yoga pants and a dark blue tank top. She was all shivering when she was coming out of the bathroom.
"I told you not to try all those stunts dancing in the rain. You could have danced here" I said with a smirk to which she threw the towel on me. It smelt like her. I kept the towel on the chair. And opened the closest to look for a jacket and finally, I got one sweater.
"Here, wear this," I said while giving it to her.
"I am sorry I spoilt your carpet," she said.
"Come on Dia do you really think that that carpet was more important than you," I asked.
"Of course Mr Rai it looks so expensive and by the way, there is no comparison. Yeah of course if one of your girlfriends would have done that it would have not made any difference but me I am just a stupid HRM of your company who is just a liability on you just because you didn't let me go to my apartment on time. That's it. You don't have to to be nice to me you should be rude to me because all I am is a mere-" I took a step towards her which was enough for her to shut.
"What-Why are you coming near me," she said while taking a step back.
"Because you won't keep that pretty little mouth of yours close now would you," I said with a smirk still taking a step towards her.
"Look Mr Rai no matter how handsome or dead gorgeous you are- don't come near me," she said while taking a step back which was followed by her sneezing.
"Come you really need something hot although your anger is enough still" I smirked and then went towards the kitchen to prepare something for her. She came down after a while and went into the hall and started looking through the DVDs.
"Old classic?" She asked with shock.
"Yeah, didn't think me off like that now did you" I replied.
"Like seriously Gone with the winds then this is..... Schindlers List..... The Great Escape do you like war films" she asked.
"Yeah, specifically those world wartime movies" I stated.
"Oo My God," she said.
"What," I asked while coming out of the kitchen.
"The Sound of Music," she said while showing me the DVD.
"Have you seen it?" I asked wit a smirk.
"Yes Dida Mom and me we saw it together but that was like, ages ago," she said in a dramatic way and then kept the DVD back.
"You want to see it again," I asked her.
"Can we see it?" she asked like a child asking for candy.
"Stop acting like a kid. Let me bring some blankets then you can sit here and watch it" I went and got a blanket for her. And then we had the soup while watching the movie. At times she was singing with Julie Anderson. God, she was really into the movie. All I was doing was watching her. Her excited face and all the actions she was doing it was like she was not sick at all.
"Well now that's what you call a movie," she said.
"Yeah I know actually I saw it for the first time," I said while scratching my neck.
"Really well you could see it alone when or maybe with someone who is less excited or less irritating," she said and I chuckled.
"I'll keep that in mind, but now I think we should go to bed," I said that and instantly she was on her feet. She went to her room and is went to my room. The last thing that I remember was Dia singing Do Re Mi.
