Chapter One
Jaxon's POV
God, I'm so damn tired. I feel like I haven't had a chance to relax in ages. Reports have been coming in for the past few weeks about problems with the Bloodvenom Pack and as Alpha of one of the leading Packs of the world (the Silver Shadows Pack), it was my job to try to figure out what the hell was going on and find a solution.
Just as I finished up reading some reports I had received on this issue, there was a knock on my office door. "Come in" I called loudly. The door opens and my Beta, Carter walks in. He looked absolutely livid, which is a strange look on him as he is normally full of jokes and smiles. He is probably the most laid back person I know. So something really bad must have happened to piss him off this badly.
"What's wrong Carter?". He ran his hand through his hair in frustration. "He fucking did it again Jaxon. We found another Omega just outside his packlands and it was bad. The poor boy looked no older than 17 and he was beaten beyond recognition, same as all the others. But the same scent was on him as all the others as well. I know what Mason and his Beta smell like, and it’s definitely not them. It smells like another Omega." He finishes his rant and shoves his 6,3 frame into the chair on the other side of my desk.
Now if you are wondering what the hell we are talking about, I will tell you. Mason is the Alpha from the Bloodvenom Pack and we had found out that he uses the Omegas in his pack as his personal punching bags and unfortunately for a few other things as well. We don't have any hard evidence as our evidence died the same day we found him just inside our borders. He lived just long enough to tell us that he was an Omega from the Bloodvenom Pack and that he is just one of many that Alpha Mason has done this to. Then he just started mumbling the same name over and over, Evan. We could smell Mason on his skin as well as his Beta, Dorian. But there was another scent on him that got my wolf agitated. It was the smell of Vanilla and Chocolate. But I didn't have time to deal with my wolf at that moment. I needed to get the boy help.
I had linked Richard, the Pack Doctor, and informed him that we were bringing a badly injured boy.
He was waiting when we got there and started on him immediately. The boy, however, was unconscious by this time. Carter, myself as well as my Head Warrior, Sebastian, waited for about 2 hours before the doctor came out and by the saddened look on his face, we knew the boy had not made it.
"I'm sorry Alpha, but there wasn't much I could do. He was far too injured to be saved. How he travelled as far as he did with his injuries, no one will ever know. May I ask what you know of him?" The doctor looked between all three of us for an answer.
"I'm sorry Doc, all we know is that he was from the Bloodvenom Pack and apparently he was injured like that by Alpha Mason, his Beta and probably a few others as well by the looks of it." The kind doctor shook his head in disgust and sadness. "If it's the Alpha that did that, then he is a very twisted and sick man. He has some old scarring that makes me believe that this wasn't the first time this had happened to him."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That happened about three weeks ago and we are no closer to getting any sort of evidence to use for confronting him. I look at my Beta and he just sits there waiting for me to process the latest info.
"I think we need to make an excuse to go see Alpha Mason so we can maybe have a look around the place. See if we can find something against him that way" I mumble thoughtfully.
He shakes his head at me, "Not going to happen Jaxon. You know he hardly ever allows anyone on his land. How are you planning on getting him to agree to see you, when he denies everyone else?"
I sit back and smirk at my best friend. "Well, if there is one reason he can’t deny me, then it's to let me search for my Mate. Everyone knows that I have been going to all the different packs for the past year, looking for my Mate. By our laws, he can not deny me."
Carter finally sits back and smiles at me. "You have a devious mind my friend, but I like the way you think."
I use the next few hours to make our preparations and finally I call Mason and inform him that I will be there next Saturday to meet his pack as I am still searching for my Mate and his Pack is one of the few I have not yet visited.
He didn't sound pleased at all, but knew there wasn't much he could do about it, so the arrangements were finalised. I was, however, also informed rather rudely, that I could only stay there the one night and would have to leave the next morning, whether I had found my Mate or not.
I went to bed that night feeling strangely excited to be going. I only had to wait four more days, before I would be able to see for myself what has been happening within the Bloodvenom Pack. And the Goddess better help Mason's black soul if I found anything out of place.
If I find any evidence of what I suspect is happening there, then I will make sure he regrets the day his mother gave him life. Omegas are gentle and sweet by nature. They are special and balance out the overload of testosterone from the bigger, more aggressive wolves.
You see, I say testosterone, due to Omegas being males. They are usually mated to other males and are the only male wolves that are capable of carrying pups, although I have heard of some exceptions being made in this regard.
I have also heard a story from when I was younger, about some Omegas being so special that they actually have special powers. But I don't know how true those are. That would be so damned cool though, I thought as I drifted off to sleep.
That night I kept dreaming about the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen. But they looked so sad and filled with so much pain. I wondered who those eyes belonged to as I drifted off to sleep.
