Chapter 4
My eyes caught sight of Alpha Kyle. Anna came alive as soon as she saw him.
"Mate" she whispered.
As soon as I saw him, my breath got caught in my throat. It took all the self restraint in me not to open my mouth wide in awe.
He was the most gorgeous man I had ever seen. He stood tall and commanding. He looked like an Alpha. If I hadn't heard of him before, I would have guessed who he was by his looks.
He exuded an effortless confidence that drew me in like a magnet.
His handsome rugged features were framed by blonde, tousled hair. His piercing blue eyes seemed to see right through me. His eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that took my breath away.
I can't believe the Alpha of the pack was my mate. I could hardly believe the sheer magnetism he exuded.
Our connection was undeniable. I could feel a magnetic pull that seemed to reach into the depths of my soul. My heart swelled with emotions that I couldn't describe with words. I felt drawn to him in a way I had never felt before.
Time seemed to slow as we observed each other. We stared at ourselves for what seemed like forever.
Raquelle looked back and forth between us. There was a look of confusion on her face.
"Do you guys know each other or something?" Raquelle asked.
"No" Alpha Kyle responded "She looks familiar"
He still stared at me. I had to look at the floor to hide my gaze.
He looked so intimidating and hot at the same time.
"Alright" Janet said "Let's eat then"
We all sat down at the table. The maids came and serves us one by one.
To everyone else, this was normal but to me, it felt like Christmas. My mouth almost watered at the sight of food. I can't remember the last time I ate a proper meal. I was usually the one who did the serving. Nobody has ever served me before.
Raquelle sat beside Alpha Kyle while I sat across from them.
She wore a wearing a short gold colored gown with her cleavage showing. Her long wavy blonde hair fell in waves over her shoulders.
Throughout the meal, I felt tense. I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.
So much was happening all at once.
I tried to wrap my head around the fact that my mate is an Alpha.
How can that be possible? I'm an omega. I'm not supposed to be mated to anyone powerful.
My father and Alpha Kyle exchanged words about pack politics.
"I appreciate the work you've done while I've been away" Alpha Kyle said "No one else could have done it better"
Raquelle giggled "That's my dad, for you. He's always there when you need him"
"She's right" Janet added "You can always count on him"
Alpha Kyle nodded "I can see that now"
Alpha Kyle and my dad went on to discuss alliances with other neighboring packs as well as the ever-present threat of rival packs.
I did my best to focus on my food. I sure as hell am not allowed to say anything. It's even a privilege that I was invited for this dinner.
I kept my mouth shut and chewed on my food slowly, hoping nobody would take notice of me.
No matter how hard I tried to divert it, my mind kept wandering back to the Alpha. I couldn't deny the intense attraction I felt for him. It left me feeling both exhilarated and anxious.
Every now and then, Alpha Kyle and I would glance at each other. Any time we made eye contact, my chest would flutter and my cheeks would heat up. I could feel butterflies in my stomach just at the sight of him.
Every time we looked at each other, he would stare at me without any expression then look away.
His actions made me a little scared.
Does he not want me?
Does he think I'm ugly?
I won't be surprised if he doesn't want me. I'm sure that I reek of weakness.
He's an Alpha. Who would want someone as pathetic as me for their mate?
To make matters more complicated, Raquelle seized every opportunity to flirt shamelessly with Alpha Kyle.
She batted her eyelashes at him. She laughed a little too loudly at the littlest things. She would lean in close to him whenever she could.
"How was your trip, Alpha?" Raquelle asked.
"It was okay" Alpha Kyle answered. His voice was direct and cold "I was away for some time. I had many things to sort out"
"Wow" She batter her eyelashes "You must be so busy"
"You can't imagine"
I felt some type of way with the way she flirted with him. It made my chest prick with jealousy.
To be honest, they do look great together. I stared at them as they sat side by side.
Would he prefer my sister?
If he did, who could blame him?
Raquelle was basically built like a Barbie doll. She's resilient, strong willed and beautiful plus she's not an omega. She's the legitimate daughter of the leader of the pack's warriors.
I looked down at my food to hide the tears in my eyes. I'll never be good enough, no matter how hard I try.
After dinner, I got up and cleared the dishes off the table. Alpha Kyle looked at me as I did so.
I might have been lucky enough to be served but I wouldn't expect anyone else to do the dishes. The maids have probably gone to their quarters to rest.
I took the plates to the kitchen and started cleaning up. I turned around to get some soap to do the dishes. Suddenly, something hard stopped me from moving forward.
I took a look at the person. It was Alpha Kyle.
He stood tall, looking down on me with a cold expression.
I gulped.
I felt small and intimidated. He looked like he could basically crush me if he wanted.
"Where do you think you're going?" he asked.
"Nowhere" I whimpered "I just wanted to get some soap"
He moved forward towards me slowly. I took two steps back but it was no use. Soon enough, I had hit the sink. This means there's nowhere else for me to run.
"Have you heard about me?" he asked me.
His voice was cold. There was something about it. His voice sent chills through me like it would to someone who got ice poured on them.
I nodded "Yes Alpha"
"Do you want love?"
I didn't respond.
What do I say to that?
"Answer me" he growled.
I slowly nodded.
He laughed dryly.
'The rumours you heard about me are true so you can throw any thought of love out the window. You're mine now and there's nothing you can do about it. This means I will treat you as I see fit. Is that understood?"
A feeling of nervousness ran through me as he said this. I shook subtly at the coldness of his tone.
I nodded in fear, too scared to say anything.
"Speak up when I talk to you!" he demanded.
"Slowly, I whimpered Yes alpha"
