CHAPTER 7

Anyone who heard her sarcastic questions would have bursted out in laughter. But this was a serious situation.

[Good one, My Queen.] Rocky remarked in Ryker's head and the King wanted to snort at his sudden betrayal.

"Duck right!" Selena ordered, this time her eyes glowed with a fighting intensity. She was sending the being a gravely look as it stared at her in surprise.

The look on his face was probably a 'the heck, she can see me!?!?'

Ryker did as she said, this time pulling her to a standing position, they both swayed to the right. His hands went to her slender waist reflexively. This was because it looked as though they were dancing.

Selena shifted her gaze to meet with his. She couldn't see his eyes but could make up that he was staring at her.

"Squat down, duck left." Her voice ordered and he did as she stated.

Selena thought Ryker would leave her and squat alone, she was all ready to deliver what she thought was a lethal hit to the unseen being.

But she was wrong. He pulled her to sit on his laps, while his eyes darkened. There was no way he would allow that being hurt her. Only he had the right to do that.

"Lean back!" She pushed at his chest and they were suddenly lying on the ground. Her head was on his chest and she heard a growl.

Selena raised her eyes and she squealed because the unseen being she could see now had claws outstretched toward her.

Her heterochromatic eyes widened and she expected to be hit, but a dark wolf leaped from nowhere and pounced on the being.

The being started to become more visible and Ryker's eyes turned deadly as it they landed on it.

It was a demon. They never encountered this type of demon before, it felt so powerful while being unseen.

"What the f**k is that?" Selena questioned under her breath, unaware that Ryker could hear her. Different wolves started strutting to encircle the demon, while their menacing growls tore the air.

As though paying a visit to her children, the moon rose from the sky, encasing the scene with its silvery rays.

"Demon..." Ryker grunted, his sharp eyes focused on the being that was now immobile under the Beta's grip.

He rose back to his sitting position with Selena in his arms. They were both oblivious of the disbelieving gaze that came from his pack.

The dark wolf that placed its entire weight on the demon transformed back into its human form, clothes still intact. It was the first time his eyes were seen. They were like a reflection of the moon.

Randy glowered at the demon that writhed in his grasp trying to escape, but the Beta already rendered him immobile by straddling him and placing his whole weight on him.

"Who sent you? Who are you after?" His semi-deep voice entertained the ears of the other wolves who never shifted from their forms.

Among them was the Gamma who stared at the King and Queen in disbelief from the sidelines.

[I hope I'm not imagining it... but the King is allowing the Queen to sit on his laps!?!? What's going on here...?] Perry asked himself in his thought, while his wolf sniggered because it was obvious.

Selena got out of Ryker's embrace and she wanted to head toward the being, her eyes were narrowed on it. But a hand drew her back and walked ahead of her, making her expression turn gray.

'Such a petty person is the King of this strange place.' She sneered and threw a look to her sides.

Selena was offended with the way he pushed her aside as though she wasn't the one who helped him to dodge the demon's attacks.

But being so obstinate was something he couldn't prevent. Selena walked behind him, and she found herself in the circle of wolves, staring at the demon.

His gaze fell on Selena and it started to growl in a language that only she understood... magically.

"*You lowly thing! You dare to protect this selfish King from being attacked. Let me tell you something, you will never be able to get away from him. No matter how hard you try!*"

Her eyes dilated and she folded her fingers into a strong ball. Yes, it seems like the demon also knew her real identity. What was this supposed to mean?

'How did he manage to know I'm not Selena? There has to be a way...' her frown deepened as she watched the demon continue to cuss her.

Meanwhile, the Lycans never said a word as the demon appeared to be grunting incoherently. To them, it was trying its best to escape the lethal grip of the Beta.

One wrong move and its spine would be severed, then it would wilt into nothingness.

Ryker's sharp azure eyes followed the direction the Demon was looking while it grunted moving its lips. His eyes landed on Selena who seemed focused on the demon.

Her gaze was so intense, one would think she was listening to it. But she was only human. There was no way she would even be able to see this thing when he couldn't!

'This proves that she's purely insane. Beings who scream and speak in language they only understand... can see strange things too...' He shook his head because he never thought her case was as severe as he thought.

But for some reason, it really bothered him watching her stare at the demon in an alarming intensity.

There was something about her no one knew. And he was going to find out about it no matter what. At least, he was assured Selena had something doing with the sacred object that went missing.

"You don't like to listen to instructions, do you?" His cold voice broke her out of her reverie. Ryker was sending a mean look at his supposed Queen who returned it back with a greater force.

"Who are you to give me instructions?" She raised a brow, her voice still calm.

[Oh no, she didn't!] An internal face palm was heard as the voice commented.

[Better believe it!] Another voice which sounded tenor-like intoned.

Then the air around them started turning chilly again. This time, all their gazes were on Selena. Pity could be seen in them because they knew what was coming.
