CHAPTER 6
As expected of Selena, she got the wind of what he was trying to do. Ryker didn't mind, but he got amused because he underestimated her. Perhaps she was actually not from this place like she claimed.
But there was no way he would try believing the 'excuses' she made just to run away from him. Selena wasn't a pure person before she met him. She was one of the cunniest pickpockets that roamed around Lycaria's borders.
She was smart, no doubt.
He clicked his tongue and took a step forward to her.
"You return back what you've stolen, and you're free to leave. As long as you don't appear in this Kingdom again." Ryker's voice turned serious as he stated the second sentence and conditions he gave to her.
Selena scoffed and crossed her arms on her chest. She could not see his eyes, but she was staring at his face with a 'are you kidding me' reaction.
"For the love of Hecate I've said I never took a shit! I don't even know the heck you're talking about!!" She growled out, frustration heard in her voice. She could not remember what she stole.
Why did she need to remember? She wasn't the owner of this body!
"You will mind your language and the volume of your voice when speaking to me!" Ryker became livid again. The air around him changed from that calculating Alpha to that of an enraged wolf.
"You didn't get the gist of what I meant, it seems. I don't take orders from people who think the universe revolves around them." She countered, this time her voice sounded so calm it reminded one of the lake.
Her eyes were focused on Ryker again, and she liked the reaction he was giving off.
'It is a good thing I have a knack for Psychology. Feels good watching him get mad.' She mused to herself as she swished around gracefully.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes, stood the Supreme second-in-command and third-in-command to the Alpha. The Beta and Gamma.
"She's really got the nerves to speak to Ryker in that manner. I mean... the audacity!" The red-haired young man shook his head in wonder. His sharp, green eyes were on the small silhouette taking a step from the murderous outline of the King.
"She's going to be the end of her race if she doesn't keep shut and adhere to his orders one day." A silver-haired man stated with obvious boredom. His eyes never left his friend, the King.
"Come on, Randy. Learn to appreciate her for her individuality." The red-haired man addressed the silver-haired again. This time, a small smile was seen on his handsome face that was concealed in the darkness.
"Don't tell me you've become a follower of a mere human and have contacted her insanity. You speak in a language only she understands." Randy spoke in a low voice. He was sending pointed looks to the man who praised Selena.
"Shut up for Hecate's sake! Why can't you accept her for being different??"
"Because she's going to be the cause of anyone's downfall, with her brazenness. You have forgotten about how life rules us here, Perry." The Beta sighed, before raising his hand to tousle his silver hair.
This was the first time he said too much, and it was because this crazy red-haired spoke about the Queen. Well, they might really hit it off if they spoke to each other for once.
They felt like something was off with the air, and it was threatening enough to make them shift into their beasts. It was a quick transition that rendered them in another realm.
Their environment changed something that seemed beyond the physical as their senses became heightened because of their transformation.
A dark wolf with a silver patch around it's right eye and a red wolf with an aura of red flames dancing around it. They both growled as they couldn't see what was about to attack them but sensed the great tension in the air.
[Inform the elite warriors... we're under attack!!] Randy's voice ordered the Gamma who bowed his head and headed away from the scene immediately.
The Beta used the same opportunity he had to inform the Supreme Alpha of the current danger in the place.
Selena raised a brow before turning around to face Ryker again. But then her eyes caught a frightening shadow looming behind the King.
She didn't know when it happened but her legs moved with instincts. Selena grabbed his hand and tried to pull him away from the spot, with fright seen in her eyes.
Her body started to tremble as images flashed in her head. The figures she saw was enough to render a human unable to sleep for three days straight. And to think she could perfectly see the face in darkness!
Ryker looked at her not comprehending her actions. But he took note of how she shivered terribly while staring at something unseen.
"Damn it! Move, you stubborn Wolf!" She screamed at the top of her lungs and at the same time, Ryker got a wind of what was happening from the mind-link that connected him to Randy.
[Alpha! Unseen forces are detected in our current location! Perry has gone to call for reinforcement.]
A strange wind whistled past his ears and he moved according to his reflexes, while pulling Selena into his embrace.
Selena was about to fight his action, but he growled into her ear in a low voice: "Stop making things hard for me, I'm trying to fight the unseen."
"Just listen to me for a moment, Ryker! I can see it perfectly!" The woman who screamed in fright and was trembling some seconds ago was no longer existent.
The person in his embrace was the stubborn Queen who fought for her views to be heard.
"You can see that thing?" He heard another blow coming his way and he lowered his torso 90 degrees to the ground. His action made it seem like he was dipping Selena.
The light-skinned girl scrunched her nose, grimacing at the thought of dancing with the Cruel Alpha.
"Why else did I scream? Because I saw a gorgeous Prince?"
