CHAPTER 7 : NEW MATE? OLD MATE?

It had been 4 hours already since Alexander left the room. Jace was still in his room regretting what he did because he knew very well that omegas should be treasured not used and he made an omega feel all used.

Jace sighed all frustrated as he rubbed his face not knowing what to do. He laid down on the bed as he closed his eyes and groaned.

“I shouldn’t have done that. I should have kicked the little cub out as soon as I saw his face because I knew very well, I would lose control” Jace grumbled to himself as he took a deep breath when he heard chatting but as usual Jace didn’t care.

‘Alexander’ Jace suddenly heard his rejected mate’s name so he coughed and concentrated so he could listen carefully taking his strong hearing senses as an advantage.

“Why were Alexander’s eyes puffy?” Jace heard Crystal’s voice and he could tell she was worried for Alexander.

“It seemed he was crying” Ruby spoke a bit worried as Jace rolled his eyes.

“That’s because of heat nothing else. It happens to me as well” Daisy spoke as Jace felt more guilty for kissing Alexander because he knew that kissing by your mate can trigger heat to come quicker.

“Yeah, but he should have said something about it” Maya spoke as Jace sat up and kept on listening.

“He looked really weak this morning” Rei now said as Jace knew that Rei was the one who dropped Alex at his and Keith’s house.

“It’s sad because I wanted him to stay” Aleena sighed as Jace’s eyes widened since he didn’t know about Alexander’s stay.

“He would never stay because there are three alphas in this house” Zain spoke as Jace hummed knowing his friend was right when he heard Crystal laugh and say “We know that dumbo”

“I just hope he didn’t cry because of Jace” Keith spoke as Jace was now quite angry since he hated the fact of Keith being close with everyone.

“No, he didn’t. When I went to call them Jace called Alexander ‘Alie’” Aleena giggled out as Jace rolled his eyes knowing he just said that because his head was all fuzzy and infront of him was his mate who was a mess.

“Well, that’s a good starting” Keith laughed out which angered Jace since he didn’t like Alexander at all even though he knew he kissed him.

Jace angrily stood up as he banged open his door as he stomped towards his friends. He glared at Keith who raised his eyebrow.

“It is not a good starting” Jace angrily spoke as he kept on glaring at his friends.

“Oh, so you wanted a good starting from the day you rejected him?” Zain snickered as Jace grumpily stared at him as he spoke sternly “There is no starting or ending” confusing his friends.

“I don’t get you” Daisy spoke a bit concerned as she glanced at her mate who smiled at her telling her to calm down.

“I mean I don’t like Alexander” Jace spoke in an ‘I don’t care’ tone making Crystal sigh since she wanted Alexander to be happy.

“Why did you call him Alie?” Aleena questioned as she stared at Jace when Rei questioned “Why did he say you guys had fun chatting?” as Jace stared at him now.

“Why did he say you are a nice guy and laughed with him?” Zain asked as Jace sighed opening his mouth to answer when Maya suddenly questioned “Why did he say so many good things about you?” making Jace shut his mouth since he had no reply.

“Why did that lil boy say you played guitar for him?” Ruby questioned as she made Jace face him.

“Why did he say you showed him your new song called ‘A choice to make’?” Crystal questioned as she glared at Jace who glared back at her.

“Why did he look so happy?” Daisy questioned as Jace just remained quiet not knowing what to say yet again.

“Jace, something is up and you are hiding it from us” Keith now spoke as Jace sighed shaking his head while he sat on the sofa and spoke in a low voice “I like Richa” making his friends angry since Jace was stubborn as hell.

“Jace, Richa is now married” Keith spoke angering Jace since he hated when Keith always said that.

“SHE ISN’T MARRIED. I LIED TO YOU GUYS” Jace yelled finally telling the truth when he whispered yet again “She isn’t married” sadly.

“What are you talking about?” Crystal questioned as she sat next to Jace rubbing his back to calm him down.

“She left me because she hates me. She said I am over-protective and she is in love with a human. She left me for him and they are only engaged” Jace spoke as he rubbed his face while he tried his best to stay strong.

“Whatever it is. She now belongs to someone else” Keith spoke as he stared at Jace who glared at Keith hating the fact that Keith was so straightforward.

“I never liked her anyway” Crystal spoke since she also knew Jace’s, old mate.

“We knew her since school days” Jace spoke as Keith shrugged and replied “Yeah so? She never respected you anyway”

“STOP IT” Jace yelled angrily as Keith yelled back “SHE ISN’T YOUR MATE”

Jace was now extremely angry as he stood up and yelled “SHE IS MY MATE” while he showed Keith his wrist where Richa’s name was still visible even though it should have vanished.

“Jace, that girl rejected you and to your luck, you were born with two mates. I told you this before as well but you should select Alex because he is a wolf” Rei spoke trying his best so his friend understands but Jace didn’t care.

“You didn’t even know him at that time” Jace huffed out as he sat back on the sofa and crossed his arms around his chest.

“But a wolf being your mate is better because you are reckless.” Zain chuckled as Jace shook his head to a no.

“Look bro, I know it’s hard for you to move on because you spend so many years with Richa but at least give Alexander a chance” Keith spoke as he knew Jace would never listen but if he becomes Alexander’s friend…there was still a small chance of them ending together.

“I don’t know” Jace whispered out confused.

“What if you just be his friend?” Daisy questioned as Jace glanced at her and questioned “What do you mean?”

Daisy had no clue how to answer Jace’s question. She knew the answer but one wrong word and Jace would back away.

“Just be his friend, be close with him. Alex isn’t a bad boy. He is sweet, innocent with a bad past so just stay with him and if you still can’t get over Richa…” Keith spoke as Jace hummed getting what his friend was trying to say.

“We won’t stop you anymore” Ruby spoke as she sighed knowing Alexander was a better choice.

“Just remember what you said okay” Jace spoke as Keith nodded his head and whispered “Yeah, we will”

Jace thought for a moment, he knew it was a great deal where there was no one interfering in his life so without any hesitation he said “I will think about it”

“Good just think about it. You want a new mate or old mate” Keith spoke as Jace nodded his head understandingly.

“I will go rest in my room” Jace whispered still thinking as Keith nodded his head.

“You need Alex’s number” Daisy questioned as she showed her mobile while Jace thought for a while and nodded.

“I guess just give it” Jace sighed as he saved Alexander’s number and went back to his room. He laid down on his bed as he stared at Alexander’s number.

Jace opened his ‘beegram’ as he wrote Alexander’s name on the search bar to see many Alexander profiles pop up. He thought for a while as he wrote ‘Alexander Edward’ this time to see his mate’s profile.

“Bingo” Jace smirked as he clicked it open to see all of Alexander’s posts.

“You are cute” Jace chuckled as he saw Alexander’s pictures and other posts when he came across an old picture where Alexander was small and he was standing with his family and under that Alexander had commented ‘Sometimes you love the past but scared of the outcome it had given’ which confused Jace a lot.

Jace stood up as he yet again walked out of his room to ask his friends about this when he saw Crystal and Keith seeing their friends off.

The time he waited passed by quickly as Keith and Crystal finally went back to the dining room as they heated the pizza again.

“I want one slice” Jace spoke as Crystal hummed taking one slice for Jace as well to the kitchen where she heated it.

Crystal walked back to see Jace deep in his thoughts with Keith staring at him.

“Everything okay Jace?” Crystal questioned as she gave Jace his slice of pizza while Jace answered nervously “Y-Yeah I guess and thank you for heating this”

Crystal gave Keith his slice of pizza while she sat next to Keith.

“Jace, we are your childhood friends so we know that it is extremely hard to leave your mate behind and go after the other one but Alex is a good boy” Keith spoke since they were alone, he could talk with Jace more openly and even scold him.

“I have this question and it’s about Alexander” Jace spoke catching Crystal and Keith off guard.

“Okay, what is it?” Keith questioned as Jace questioned back “You said bad past so what did you mean by that?” which made Keith sigh as he remained quiet.

“He just got a bad past that is it” Crystal spoke trying her best to end the topic but Jace was stubborn and he really wanted to know about this.

“I want to know and you know I have more rights to know about this. More than you both do” Jace spoke as he stared right into Keith’s eyes.

“Because he is your mate?” Keith questioned as he smirked while Jace hummed nodding his head while he answered “Yeah, even though I rejected him, he still is mine for now”

It was true, even though they rejected each other…their names didn’t disappear yet so they still had rights over each other.

“He didn’t tell us everything but that day when you rejected him…” Crystal started as she sighed shaking her head while she continued “Well, he cried a lot after he ran away and told us a bit since he had no clue what to do.”

Jace frowned as he felt sad so he questioned “Did he say not to tell?” because he didn’t want to know if Alexander said not to tell because Jace believed in promises and always kept them.

“No, so I think we can tell,” Crystal said as she glanced at her mate who shook his head as he said “But I don’t think kiddo will like it”

Jace clicked his tongue as he spoke through gritted teeth “I want to know as his mate” making Keith sigh.

‘This is the first time Jace called Alexander his mate so I think we should tell” Crystal mind-linked Keith who was staring at Jace.

‘Okay but just small things and if he wants to know more. We can tell him to ask Alexander’ Keith spoke through mind link with his mate who nodded her head agreeing.

“Well? Tell me” Jace spoke hoping Keith and Crystal tell and to his luck they agreed.

“He said he got no one and no one to call home. His family rejected him and they were abusive so he moved out when he turned 18. He waited for you but you ended up rejecting him. Alex thinks you hate him and he is all alone.” Keith spoke as he didn’t talk about Alexander’s wolf and omega part also a bit about the family part.

“…”

“Jace” Keith called Jace but he didn’t respond.

“…”

“Jace de Leon” Crystal spoke as she glanced at her mate who shrugged.

“…”

“JACE” Keith yelled as Crystal shook him bringing him back from his thoughts as he questioned, “Yeah…what?”

“Are you okay?” Crystal questioned as Jace hummed nodding his head while he answered “Yeah, just thinking. I will go back to my room and rest for a while” as Crystal hummed.

“Okay and try being Alexander’s friend” Keith spoke as Jace chuckled nodding.

“I will try” Jace whispered as he went back to his room while he locked the door and walked up to his bed.

Jace felt guilty and sad. He now knew what Alexander went through and why was he so innocent and kind to him. Why he cared when Jace was sad and it hurt Jace that he made Alexander cry.

“I am sorry” Jace whispered as he took his mobile and messaged Alexander quickly.

‘I wasn’t in my senses and thank you for not telling others. Hope you can forgive me’ ~J

‘Hi, it's ok because everyone makes mistakes.’ ~Alex

‘I feel tired so I will go sleep’ ~ Alex

Jace sighed knowing at least he asked for forgiveness. He still felt guilty but he knew very well that he will yet again ask for forgiveness when he meets him. Jace kept his mobile on the side as he stood up locking the door and closing the lights and curtains.

The room was cold which made Jace sleepy so he laid on the bed when he remembered he kept Alexander’s diary under his pillow so he took it out.

“It says to return it to Jace so I think I can read” Jace spoke to himself as he made up his mind that he will be Alexander’s friend for now until he can select his new mate or old mate because, in the end, he wanted to have a mate.
