Chapter 10

I'm scared.

We come home, worn and betrayed...especially my dad, but mostly I'm afraid of Carter, the worst nightmare. I decide to not obey his orders so I throw the paper and burn it then I go in my bed and sleep through the cold storm in New York.

Morning.

Sound of the birds coming through my ears, I blink my eyes to see the sky but same as usual the sky grey and depressing in October. I wake up and take my phone from my nightstand, I see that I have 6 notifications from Leo, Myla and an unknown.

Leo

Leo: Hey, you alright?

Leo: Why aren't picking up?

last night, 22:45

Jenna: sorry I was asleep, I was somewhere else.

Leo: oh good morning, and it's okay, I accept your apologies, should we hang out in the Manhattan Mall with Myla?

I chuckle and look at the last message in disgust, how can she love him while I hate him?

Myla: hey hot stuff, I mean good morning, I don' t know, I'm scared ya know.

Jenna: yeah but you want him, you want to devour him.

Myla: that's true, anyway what should we do today?

Jenna: oh yeah Leo wanted to meet up together so we could hang out in Manhattan Hall, wanna do it?

Myla: hell yeah, I can't wait to meet you guys so what time?

Unknowns: You disobey my order, now princess you will have your punishment.

Ok, I think this getting too overboard, I will tell my dad about it, anyway I get up and go to take a bath.

25 minutes later,

Ahh it feels great to have a hot bath filled with vanilla scent, I go to my small closet and see which outfit should me correspond today, and I find it.

I put on my nude lipstick and mascara on my face, no foundation I prefer to keep it natural. When I go downstairs, I see my brother who was already awake and he's doing his weird dance again.

I giggle and took my iPhone from my pocket, filming him until he notices that I'm filming him, he takes notice of what I am doing and his face is full of awkwardness.

"Oh, you are so dead now Jenna!" He yells.

I laugh, "So why don't you take my phone and delete the video, kiddo?"

He thinks for a while and shakes his head.

"Nah I'm tired, Jen." He waves his hand.

"What's up little brother, slept well?" I ask him.

"First I'm not fucking little and second I slept well, what about you?"

I lie to him in his face, "Yeah I did."

Last night, because of him, I couldn't sleep, I mean why did I make a dumb move on him, I shouldn't do that, it's my fault if he's like that to me.

I take a bowl and pours some milk and put in the cereals and I find a spoon who is laying on the table, I take it then start to eat.

"Where's mom and dad?" I say while munching the cereals.

"Ew, first you should eat then talk and second, the parents went to Los Angeles because grandma is sick."

"Oh...okay, I hope grandma is going to be okay," I say disappointed.

This is not the first time they do this, they leave us with saying goodbye or whatsoever, it breaks my heart to think that our parents are not worried about us a least write saying that you guys are going to see grandma when she's sick ughh parents these days.

I finish my cereals and put the bowl in the sink then I go to the living room to a watch a movie on Netflix for killing my boredom.

15:03,

I slept through the movie which was American nightmare, and I see that I'm late to meet up with Myla and Leo, I take my phone and my jacket.

"James, I'm going out with my friends." I yell.

"Oh me too I'm going to a sleepover."

I look at him suspiciously, "Which house?"

"Kyle's."

"Alright, the- wait what, the Carter's?"

"I think I said that to you twice." He rolls his eyes.

"Yeah I know but since when you and kyle were friends?" I smile because yesterday there was a battle of glare between those two teenagers and now they are besties.

"Oh yesterday was nothing, we decided to make up each other."

"Alright you can go but be back tomorrow morning in 8, I will ask Mrs Parker if it's true that you are going to their house."

"Ok, mom." He mocks.

I chuckle and get out of this house, I take my car to go to the mall.

Manhattan mall,

I step out of my car and see that my two best friends are drinking Starbucks without me, those idiots.

"Omg, I can't believe you are drinking Starbucks without the special guest which is me!" I joke while pointing myself.

"Uhm doesn't flatter yourself, babe, did you see the time? We waited for you in this cold weather so please we had to eat until you get here." Leo says dramatically.

"Sorry, I was sleeping through the movie I was watching, I forgot to wake up." I lower my head down in embarrassment.

"God, how much can you sleep that much? Are you like a superwoman or something?" Myla says sarcastically.

We laugh at her joke and go to the mall.

As the time passes by, Myla and Leo went on a shopping spree, me being the dumb one thought that we were going to hang out and I didn't bring any money, they insisted to pay for me but I declined politely which they didn't take it very well and since they were rich as fuck, they brought for me a lot of things.

"It was so fun! We should do that much more again?" Myla exclaims.

"Yep, that's right, oh remember when Leo was flirting with the cashier but then the cashier announces him that he wasn't gay, omg you should have look his face when he heard that!" I laugh like a hyena as she does the same thing.

"Aha, it's so funny Bradshaw." He fakes laugh, "It's not funny actually." He pouts.

"Ohh you should stop making that face," I say to him as a mother should.

"Yeah that's right, oh god it's already 7 pm, my mom going to kill me!" Myla yells.

"Me too!" Leo yells.

"Then you guys should go, I will see you guys tomorrow."

"Yep, goodbye." They say together without forgetting to hug me.

I go to the parking lot and find my car then I get in and put in the ignition.

After 10 minutes of driving, I step out of the vehicle and open my door then close it after.

Now that I think about it I'm alone but before getting the party started I'm calling Mrs Parker if James was lying about a sleepover or not.

A few minutes later, I call Mrs Parker and she said that there was a sleepover and I feel relieved that he wasn't lying to me, she also said that she wants to apologise to my mom for what her husband did but it wasn't her place to apologise but her husband.

I go up to my room and open my laptop to do my homework for tomorrow.

10 minutes later.

Finally, I finish my homework, I check my watch and see that I got a lot of time before bedtime. I go downstairs to make a sandwich for me. As I'm making the sandwich, I hear a knock on my door.

Who could that be at this time?

I go to the door but before opening it, I take a little ladder, since I'm short to see the peephole, but the peephole shows that it's covered by a thumb.

Maybe it's a burglar.

Anyway, I don't open it, too scared to see it who it is then there is a knock again but it wasn't like the last one it's much more of a brutal knock, the person keeps knocking on the door brutally. I take a step back slowly, each footstep, then the door broke from the outside.

I run upstairs while tripping a step, I glance back to see that the person is running after me, they are faster than me and is wearing black clothes and mask so I didn't know who are they.

I open a door which is my parent's room and then close it with a chair on the handle and try to think of a place to hide.

Where should I hide?

I look everywhere and see there is a little closet, it's small but enough to fit me.

This should do it.

I quickly go to this small closet and stop my breathing, sweat is slowly dripping around my face, I couldn't believe there is a burglar in my house or maybe a kidnapper?

Oh god, I'm going to be killed, god please tell my family that I love them.

Suddenly, while I'm praying there is a deep voice who could make my stomach feel like a butterfly. It's so weird.

"Where are you, baby girl?" He shouts around the house.

There is only one person who calls me that.

Omg, it's Carter.

Why is he here at this time? Maybe he's here to punish me? Wait now I get it, the warning on my phone...it was him. He wasn't kidding, he will punish me.

"Don't worry baby, I love playing hide and seek." He says with a psycho voice, I'm sure that he's smirking.

Maybe if I beg Carter to not kill me maybe he will have sympathy over me? I think the fuck not.

Look like chance wasn't by my side, because at the wrong moment, I suddenly sneeze.

Heavy footsteps are coming toward the small closet which I'm hiding right now, I pray for God to keep me safe away from this monster even though I was not religious.

He pulls the handle and sees inside the little space but since I'm at the bottom of the closet, I think he couldn't see because of the darkness. He closes the closet and I let out a relieved sigh.

Out of nowhere, a hand grab my forearm brutally and drag me out of this closet, I close my eyes and say to myself goodbye world.

"I found you, baby girl."

My eyes widen at this voice and to my surprise, I was right it's fucking Carter.
