Chapter 4 (Keegan)
"Got a staring problem?" she asked, tapping her foot impatiently. God, she was adorable standing like that. It took everything in me not to take her in my arms and kiss her right there. I shot her an amused look as I stepped away from her to create a little space.
"You're the one who ran into me," I replied, greatly amused. She rolled her eyes and her arms tightened slightly.
"I was walking backwards. What's your excuse?" she asked. I could tell she was getting annoyed with me. She seemed like a girl who was always trying to protect herself. She was trying to irritate me, but all I could feel was an overwhelming amount of love for the girl who stood before me.
"I wasn't paying attention," I answered honestly. She dropped her arms as her eyebrows shot up. She looked shocked. Her beautiful, big blue eyes held me where I was. I couldn't move or say anything, and I didn't want to. She watched me curiously before she crossed her arms. My eyes glanced down at the motion this time. My eyes widened slightly. She had an incredible body. Her body was an athletic hourglass figure and her legs were gorgeous.
"I don't think I've seen you here before," she said, making light conversation. I shrugged and rubbed the back of my neck nervously; a little embarrassed that I was checking her out. My hand twitched slightly, wanting to touch her.
"I just started school here. I was homeschooled," I answered honestly. I didn't think I ever wanted to lie to her.
"Oh," she said. We stood there a moment as I tried not to check her out. I just wish I could put a name with this beautiful person. I knew I was hooked. She already had me wrapped around her finger and she didn't even know it. I'd do anything for her and I didn't even know her name.
"I'm Caroline," she said, holding out her hand. I thought of whether or not to shake her hand. If I did, then she might feel the spark too, and if she did, then she might come to the conclusion that we were made for each other, but what if she couldn't handle it? What if it scared her and she never talked to me again? After my mental turmoil wouldn't shut up, I just went for it. I took her hand in mine. Sparks and heaven knows what else shot up my arm. My heart skipped a beat and my wolf was melting to her. I wanted to give her the world. I wanted to take her to my bed and devour her, taking in every beautiful inch of her. I let go quickly and she only blinked at me as if she were in a daze. God, I hoped she was.
"I'm Keegan," I introduced myself. She only blinked at me, unable to hear me.
"What?" she said. It sounded like she was out of breath. I smirked to myself before looking at her again. Good, she felt it too.
"I said: the name's Keegan," I repeated. She blinked and took a step away from me as if she were trying to regain herself.
"I have to go," she muttered softly as her cheeks flamed bright red. I smiled as I looked after her. Caroline... the name fit her well. I watched as she sat quickly and put her head on the table. She was embarrassed. I had no idea why but I didn't care. She felt our connection also. Her friends started talking to her and I went to go get my water. Coming back, the guys were looking at me curiously. I sat down and looked at her in amazement. My first day "socializing" and I already met my true mate. This was going to be an interesting year.
"What was that all about?" Gregg asked. Gregg was going to be my beta. I only smiled at him.
"Caroline is my mate," I answered softly.
