Chapter 4
Talia's POV
“The abyss?" Xavier asked, his eyes widened in shock.
“Yes."
“But alp…"
“End of discussion. You can take her to the hunting ground, whoever catches her will have only ten minutes, after that, the abyss. I want to hear her screams. Besides, my pets haven't had meat in years," Logan snarled.
“Yes, alpha," Xavier said, bowing slightly.
Goosebumps caressed my skin as I felt my heart stop. Pet? Years? I was going to be raped and shredded to pieces and it's all because of the one meant to protect me? I pinched my hand vigorously to ensure I wasn't dreaming. Reality hit me hard as I cried out loudly in pain, pleading for mercy from Alpha Logan.
Dragged by chains, I was taken out of the mansion. Guards trooped behind me in huge numbers as I cried silently. Xavier, indifferent didn't even glance at me. I was utterly alone. As we drew closer to the hunting ground, my heart ached as an unexplainable urge coursed through me. My body grew hotter as I yearned for something, someone, Xavier.
As my breaths became heavy, I swallowed hard. My senses weakened as my head drifted towards the night he marked me. My breath, deeper than before as my vision blurred. Fuck, I was in heat.
“Whew whopew," the guard behind me whistled, “From the way this cutie is breathing, she can't wait to have some."
“Beta Xavier already said whoever catches her can have her," another argued.
“Yeah, but, why can't we all have her?" Another suggested.
“I mean, yeah. It won't be bad. Then she can get a taste of everyone."
As they rejoiced amongst themselves, I tried finding a way out. My eyes darting through each corner. But I couldn't function properly, my whole body screamed for his touch. I wanted him.
The lights flickered as the wind howled. The cold chill sending shivers down my spine as I tried to get myself together.
“Why don't we all take her here? Since beta Xavier didn't argue, I'm sure he'll want to join in. Right beta…”
"Where did he go?”
The lights went off, darkness surrounded us as the screams of guards echoed through the night. Seizing the opportunity, I ran as fast as my feet could carry me. Sweat trickled down my face, dampening my brows as I dragged my weak body. I tried getting a hold of myself, but my damned senses wouldn't wake up.
“Ahhh!" A guard screamed, sending shivers down my spine. The air became thick with fear as I trembled with each step. Turning to see what was happening, my jaw dropped as I saw the gruesome scene.
Blood splattered everywhere with scattered body parts. The lights flickered, exposing a figure draped in black. A loud cry echoed as I watched the figure brutally snap the head off the body of a guard, the blood splattering over the floor. My heart raced as I screamed for help. I ran from the scene in search of shelter. Although slow, I had to find a way out of there. I didn't want to be next. Hell No!
“Help! Help!" I screamed frantically, dragging my legs through the woods.
The sounds of footsteps approaching from the side caught my attention. I stopped in my tracks, straining my ears as I steadied my breathing.
“Hello."
Startled, I stumbled backwards. My eyes widened as i turned to the direction of the voice, “Are you ok?" She asked, looking at me concerned.
"Y… Yes," I stuttered. I couldn't help but feel a strange sense of familiarity towards her. Her voice especially, sounded so familiar, almost like we've met before.
“What's a lovely girl like you doing out in the woods alone?" She asked, her eyes scanning me.
"N…Nothing.” I couldn't risk telling her who I was nor where I escaped from. Who knows, she could drag me right back to that hell.
"Oh, you poor thing. Are you lost? What pack do you belong to? Maybe I can escort you back,” she said smiling sweetly.
"It's fine,” I responded. Only goddess knows what would happen if she discovered I was rogue.
"Are you sure? You look a bit pale my dear,” she said, stretching her hand toward my forehead.
"I'm fine,” i said firmly, taking steps back, "Who are you?”
"Gosh, don't mind my manners. I'm Serah Knight. An omega in the crimson pack.”
Crimson? The name does ring a bell, but I don't remember where and who leads that pack.
"I'm Talia, Talia Lockwood.”
"No pack?” She asked, arching her brow.
"I'd rather not say. We're a small pack just trying to survive,” I said, chuckling nervously.
"Is that why you're in chains?” She asked, cocking her brow toward my chained hands.
There was no explanation I could give at this point. Left with no other option, I told her about my ordeal with Logan and his men.
"Oh, dear. You've suffered such a great ordeal. Mind accompanying me for a bite to eat? You must be hungry. I insist.”
As I opened my mouth to decline her offer, my stomach gave me away, growling loudly. Giving a sly smile, I cleared my throat as I sniffled, "Maybe just a bite.”
"Here, let me help you,” she said, drawing her hand toward mine. Though confused, I placed my arm in hers as she pulled a pin from her hair. Twisting the pin, she successfully unlocked the chains.
"Thanks.”
"This way,” she said, motioning her hands toward the opposite direction. As we walked, we engaged in light conversations along the way. It was an excruciatingingly painful journey as I tried my best to fight my urge. All efforts proved futile with each passing second. Maybe some food would help? A brightly lit walkway caught my attention as we drew closer. Though skeptical, I walked towards it's direction, following Serah behind.
The gates to a huge mansion creaked open as the guards greeted us warmly. Where was this place? Was she a high ranking omega? As we entered, Serah led me to a huge room. My eyes widened at the luxury inside.
“Alpha, I have a present for you," Serah said.
In seconds, a knife came flying towards my direction…
